Love when the arenas, be it The Joe, Palace, Ford Field, or Comerica, play Boston's 'Can't stop Believing.' Each and every fan stands up and sings at the top of their lungs. "BORN AND RAISED IN SOUTH DETROIT." We have a Southwest side and a Southeast side, we have a Northwest and a Northeast side, but no South Detroit, that is why we sing that so loud, cuz our South Detroit neighbors are actually our fine neighbors whom live in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. So proud of the Wings tonight. WOW, we have to keep this game going. GO WINGS!!!
Samantha, yep.. you can bring a bottle of wine or champagne with each cabin mate.. so like you can take one on your carry on and your hubby can take one in his. We did this last year.. carry on only. They charge a cork fee on the boat for like 15 bucks or so.. if they have to come open it.. so if you can find a bottle with a screw cap... it would be better.
lol.. yea.. that looks like a very easy way to get a clear liquor on.. I think we are gonna try too. There were a ton of ppl using rum runners.. I even bought some the first year.. but was afraid they would leak so we didn't use them. From what I'm told, you don't wanna put the liquor you are sneaking into your carry on... but more in your big bags that you give to the porter that they take before you go thru port security.
Ice cold water sounds like the way to go on chasing the Rumplemintz...lol The horseback riding sounds pretty fun. Not sure we'll be doing any excursions this year.. on a very tight budget this year. Oh yea.. you can also bring on a six pack of water, soda, and bottles of tea. They charge for soda and bottled water... which I find overpriced, as well.
You can bring stuff back on the ship, from the island, they take It and give it too you the morning you leave, booze is allowed I think
@Beckxxy- If you don't mind taking shots I think you'll like Rumplemintz. But then again not everyone likes peppermint either. So if you don't mind peppermint it'll go down smooth. I usually chase a shot of mintz with some ice cold water. I definitely cannot do Jager. Something about all those jager bombs I used to take when I went to Canada all the time under age. . .It doesn't sit well with me.
I really hope our booze bill isn't over 1000. But I can see how easy it would be to rack your bill up that high. Especially if you drink a lot, or your drinking all throughout the day and night and you buy some of the merchandise which I'm assuming is over priced.
That is a very interesting video that you posted as well. Great idea. And my boyfriend and I will definitely be trying that. whats the worse that can happen? They take the bottle and your out whatever you spent on the booze. = )
I think we want to do a excursion. We looked online through the carnival website and the location to see what they had available. We were thinking para sailing or the horse back riding. Bryan wanted to do the deep sea fishing but not I'm sure if he's still going to do it or not. I think something like that would be fun to experience on the island!
Do you know if they allow one bottle of wine or something like that you can bring on the ship? For some reason I feel like I have heard that or read it somewhere before?
the life I love is hearing Kid Rock music with my friends.. and I can't wait to get back on that ma focker again..hehehe good one Bobbie Jean ; )~
Never even heard of Rumplemintz.. woo sounds like an acquired taste.. we'll do vodka with a beer chaser if we just wanna go straight to getting drunk.. and we've got messed up on Jager..lol But normally we stick to Capt. and Coke.
Something that we realize on the 1st cruise.. is that they provide very nice BIG beach towel to each member of the cabin.. so that's something you don't have to pack to lighten the load in the suitcase. I don't recall seeing coffeemakers in the rooms.. but you can order free room service anytime and they will bring you coffee... room service menu is limited to certain items.. but coffee is one of them ; )
Regarding the booze bill.. the first year.. my hubby and I racked up a 1200.00 booze bill...lol The second year it was 700.00 which included two $100.00 excursions to Passion Island and tons of merchandise... go figure b/c I can't recall how we drank all that on the first cruise being that we didn't spend a thing for excursions or merchandise. I think by the second cruise we figured it out to keep with buying the buckets of beer at like 26.00.. then bought a few shots for the sail away party on the first day, the Kid Rock show, and Saturday night DJ party on the lido. We kept to drinking the free lemonade, coffee, and tea until night time..then switched to booze... which is what saved us on the 2nd cruise.
Lotta peeps sneaked their booze on board.. but I've been a wussy ever since we got caught with weed at a Kid Rock show at Boyne Mountain, MI back in 05.. and yeah some folks got that on board too..lol But yea.. now'a'days we ain't looking for no trouble so we keep the sneakin to a minimum.
Tho.. I saw this on youtube and thought.. daaam.. worth a try

on the boat again... I bet you just can't wait to get on the boat again... lol For me the first, but you guys already know how great it is, so I'm sure you're even more stoked :)
I have to get this on my fb - they look so happy, it actual makes me smile just watching. Thanks again for sharing Beckxy :)))
Val - there is plenty of coffee on that boat. Plenty of soda, O.J., milk, juice, etc....Take all you need. There might be coffeemakers in the room - I don't really remember - we don't drink it. The stairs are nice, wide, and very easy to use - it's not like a back stairwell in a building.
Samantha - Sparty on! Good luck with limiting the drinking and the lack of hangover. I think we drank 5 days straight including New Orleans before we left. Everyone is drinking on that boat and there really isn't much else to do - other than sit in the sun and go to the shows. Gambling, I guess too - but drinking is cheaper - even with the prices on the boat.
JoJo - Welcome! Make sure you do some pre-tanning or you will fry in the southern sun.
Ruth23 - Budget? I'm assuming you mean for drinks? They had buckets of 4 beers for $26. Specialty drinks were $7-8. I don't remember how much mixed drinks were. Each day they had a different fruity drink on "special" - which was a little cheaper. You don't use dollars on the boat. They give each person a room key - which works to charge anything on the boat to your room. You put a CC on file for your key, so you settle it up at the end. You don't have to worry about tipping anyone on the boat either. Each morning they put your bill on the TV, so you can see where you are at with money. I looked the first day and decided not to look after that.
Roxy's on the boat m-fer's!
Anything else? We are making our final payment this week, so we're all set. Just saving for our bar bill now!
I got a good deal on my flight too, looking forward to april.Seeing everyone and more!!!!!
If you see a lil brunette with long curly hair, and most likely a cowboy hat,Thats ME,Come over and say HI.I will be with 2 pretty blonds
I couldn't agree with you more @just because!
Rumplemintz! Hmmm...sounds like that would make some kickass hot cocoa to warm me up on these cold Michigan nights. LOL
I can't wait, this will be my first cruise!!!! Any advice on how much money to budget for? I can certainly drink with the best of them and want to make sure I can have a great time without worrying about not having enough money.. I can't wait to meet all of you!!
Hell yes

Thank You for all the good advice!!!
Cant wait to meet and party with all of yous......
My first ~cruise~first time I see ocean~first time in hot environment LOL.I am Canadian.
Msbehavin- Rumplemintz or I just call it Mintz is 100 proof peppermint schnapps. It is delicious! It will warm you right up and loosen you right up! And girl I'll be right there with ya making our own chairs if there isn't any available!
Bart- You are full of useful information!!! Ha ha. I had a friend that was on the boat last year that had a bunch of pictures posted of him and his gf in the pool with Kid. Which I thought was cool. I hope they carry rumplemintz on board. Not all places I go too actually carry it. = ) I'm originally from Eastpointe but I live in Lansing now. I am a die hard Spartan fan!!! I graduated from State in 08! Whoop! Whoop!
I'm usually not an early riser. Especially if I had been drinking a lot the night before. But we'll see. It will probably be different given the circumstances. Ha. I say now that I'm going to limit by drinking so I don't get hungover, but we shall see.
I definitely think the cruise will be worth every penny. I can't wait!!!
Bart, thanks for all of the helpful information. I have not been on any type of cruise before, so nice to know. I usually am an early riser..hopefully there is a coffeemaker in the room or some brewing early :) We are on deck 11....so the stairs to 7, eh? Just don't put the bottle opener in your carry ons..they'll search you (I learned the hard way.)
This time you have an island also, this will split people up more than the last few years I would have to think.....Our first time this year can't wait last payment done were on the boat for sure
Another long post!
Oh yeah, I've had too much rumpelmintz in my day....It's tough to choke down anymore. I think I got sick on it one too many times - but damn, it's good stuff. Basically like a spearmint schnapps, for those that don't know. But it's a lot stronger! I'll have some in the winter time to warm the belly.
- They had a flip cup or beer pong tournament last year - I don't remember which one, and I didn't see where it was - I think by the back pool area.
- It was really hard to get a lounge chair close to the main area in the lido deck. The good thing is that there are 6-7 levels that you can choose from. The pool is really small anyway because I think they put the lido stage over part of the pool. We ended up on the higher levels to get some sun - which was fine because it wasn't as crowded. Yes, people will be up all night, but there are a lot of people that were up early too. You would probably have to be up and get a chair before 8am to get a good spot. They also don't let you hold a spot - so you have to be at your chair or you will lose it.
- We are on the lido deck too. We were there last year and it was great - just a few steps away from the bar, food, pool, music, and the crowd. There were only a couple of times when I could hear the music from the lido stage when I was in my room.
- If he does it like the last couple of years you will meet Kid for about 10 seconds when you first get on the boat and get your picture taken.
- You probably won't hang with Kid and the band, but it is cool because you see Kid within the first few hours, at the sail away show, your main evening show, he introduced some of the bands playing on the lido deck, and he hung out on the balcony during the day. He even went into the pool a few times with everyone else.
- We also kept seeing the band members at different times too. My gf didn't even notice half the time - I was like "There's Marlon" "What? Where? Which guy?". We saw the band members at the pre-party in New Orleans, having breakfast, getting off the boat in Cozumel, at the other shows, etc. I sat next to Larry and his wife at Dime's show on the boat last year.
- We live in GR, so we'll help out our fellow Michigan, non-Detroit friends! Especially if you are a Spartan fan.
- The boat is worth every penny!
~I (for You, Lisa :-) can't WAIT to go on this cruise :-)
Rsms and Cedars---You two WILL be on this cruise :-) You Guys better be!!!!!!!!!! :-)
Thank You, Bart for the detailed description on a lotta stuff---for us "newbies"---
-Samantha--what is a "Rumblemintz"? And we can snag 20 beach towels and make our OWN damn chairs---lol :-)
Val :-) I agree :-) screw the make-up during the day---we will be too hung-over to care anyways---lol :-) That's what they make sunglasses for--lol :-)
~Hmmm---theme nights----i totally want an 80's hair metal night----lol (i better make sure my spandex aren't moth-eaten too bad---lol :-) OR 70's Disco night----that stuff is fun as hell to dance to :-)
~"Stayin Alive" WILL get requested---lmao :-)
I think we are staying on floor 7? And I am NOT taking any elevator---anywhere---lol :-)
Cedars and I are still on the waiting list but keeping our fingers crossed
@Beckxy- You can't get much better than to jam out to some Kid Rock and throw back a couple of Tequila shots. Even though now my new kick is Rumplemintz. Have you ever had any of that? Good stuff right there!!
@Bart- Thanks for all of that insight for this cruise! I kind of assumed that there was going to be some sort of itinerary given to us especially with all of the different guests and activities they have planned. Or so I heard at least. I heard something about a flip cup tournament. I think that would be so much fun to get a team together and play. = )
One questions I do have though is, how hard is it to snag a chair or two by the pool on the Lido deck? Coming from past experiences on vacations being in Vegas and other places getting a chair by the pool is very difficult! I know people will be partying all night and what not but how early do people make it out there? I'm thinking you'd have to get up early to get a chair.
I ended up booking a room on the Lido deck. Which was a little more expensive but I think it'll be worth it. I have a feeling that is putting us closer to where all the activities are happening.
With every other fan, I fantasize about meeting Kid and just being able to hang out with him. Which I know is very very unlikely but I still like dreaming about it ;) I'm looking forward to spending time with other fans and getting away from "real" life here in Lansing.
I'll see you on the boat BART! = )
Wow, that was a long post....
@samantha: Sounds like you are on the right track and thinking about things in advance. The one thing I'm bringing this year that I didn't have last year was a bottle opener. I buy the buckets of beer and would bring them back to the room sometimes, but I had to have the bartendar open them all at the same time. This way I can keep them fresh and cold, if I want to come back to 1 or 2 later in the night.
Last year was our first cruise - of any kind. I was a little nervous too, because I didn't know what to expect. They have everything so well planned, you really don't have to worry about anything. The cruise people and your fellow cruisers will help you along - just ask! They will tell you what line to get into and what is coming up next.
Everyone is very casual and there isn't any formal anything on that boat. I tell everyone it's like spring break for adults. It seems like everyone is drinking all of the time. I don't know how they stocked that boat with enough beer, but they did!
The itinerary is all set up for you when you check in, so you can plan how you want to spend your time and what shows/events you want to go to. The rest of the time, just head to the lido deck and grab a chair. That's where most of the action is. If you are not into the sun, grab a side seat. If you are into the sun, grab a couple of lounge chairs in the middle. Kid spent most of his time during the day on the balcony overlooking the lido deck, talking to people in his VIP area, and listening to the music or live music being played.
Connie Jo is a very sweet lady and she loves to write about her experiences. She used to be around a lot more, but I haven't seen much of her lately. She is like your favorite "cool" aunt. She will do anything for you, if she can. I spent some time with her last year and I'll miss her smiling face if she doesn't go this year.
I would also suggest going to the pre-party in Miami to meet other people going on the cruise.
Beckxy-my song choice would be difficult to dress for, it would have to be more of the expression on my face, and my actions that would give it away--
and don't think I'm on board for the no make-up idea-I care about y'all I don't want to scare you half to death..(lol)

@krcval haha true true ; )
@crazy lady .. yea no doubt.. we are gonna miss them this year :( Can't wait to see you and Jodi.. round three ma-fuckas 8 )~
@tammyray.. I like the idea of the Kid Rock song theme night.. and already got that covered it they did.. hope that gets picked.
@samantha.. you guys are gonna love this cruise.. yea overwhelming lotta shows to see and lotta ppl.. but everybody comes at you with the biggest smiles on their faces.. quite a love fest up in there..lol Connie Jo's an awesome friend.. very good-detailed blogger.. had a ton of good times with her on the past two cruises.. sad to say but I heard she will not be on the boat this year. Ditto what TammyRay said about training your man to throw em back and tuning him into Kid Rock, you rock !! ; )
Ms. B--no makeup for this Bada$$ during the day--foolish!
Maybe at night :)
Rock on!
I got my mind on the boat and the boat on my mind ;)
hey sam--have a feeling 1 of the theme nights will be Gilligan's Island related..someone sugessted dressing up as your favorite Kid Rock song and having others guess what the song is by how or what you wear, and I thought that idea rocked, it's unique and that's what Sixthman asked for--I'm hoping they have a cowboy/cowgirl/country/hillbilly stomp/ hat & boot night myself....
oh btw, way to train 'em Sam (lol)
