Thanks, I'll do that and see what happens....FYI The knee? hahahah Im a walking mirical hahaha I broke my fiba and tiba in my right leg 12 of 08...Befoe that I had and suppose still do have a torn ligiment in the right knee as well, oh and a piace of bone slivered but still attached becaues it cant be removed due to being to close to a magor autory that supplies seventy percent of blood flow in addition to a titainaim rod with two screws in the knee and two screws in the ankel....Id love to show and let ya feel my bone and screws...The Doc did an excelent job on the cut... and I dont walk with a limp and still wear high hill shoes....whooo whooo...See you all on the boat MOTHERFUCKERS hahahhahah!!!!!

Shirlee, Try to get in 30 minutes each day. It can be 10 minutes at a time. Also, I seem to remember hearing that wearing ankle weights while on the treadmill can be bad for your knees...I used to do the same thing until I heard that...You may want to research that. Drink LOTS of water. Soda is bad, even diet soda...I agree with Just Because, cut the sugar, carbs, and fat too. It's all about the calories! Don't give up!

Shirleeboss: Cut your sugar intake way back. Read the labels on everything. You will be shocked at how much sugar is in the food we eat. I try to limit my sugar intake to 15 grams per day. Also watch the carbs. The Belly Fat Cure by Jorge Cruise is the book I've been using for a while and it has worked great for me. Not preaching, just saying this is what worked for me. Good luck!

Lot of good information ladys, thank you. Im doin my fifteen minute walk each day (4themostpart), the treadmills on a slight incline and I wear two lb weights on each ankel and at two, eight and tweleve minutes lift three lb hand weights in each hand over my head sixty times for a total of one hundred and twenty. Im sweetin and pantain at the end hahahah. Last week I decided to quit my beer intake on a regular basis and save achole for rare situations hopefully so that should help...Ive not lost any weight but have gained two pounds over the last three weeks of doing this. Im hoppin those two lbs are musel not fat...The tredmill says I burn seventy-five caliores. I read 3,500caliores = 1lb

TammyRay's picture

just bought some new hand weights last night and am going to add them to my routine--I do alternate the walk, run, walk, run thing...
BIKINIS?? there aint no amount of treadmill, weights, or healthy eating that would get me in a bikini, but you go girl more power to ya'... off to the treadmill in 15 minutes-----

ooppss, just realized I typed od in my last post, should of read of, but I'm sure y'all figured that out..
Good Luck this week everyone--

TammyRay, just my opinion, but when I do cardio, I alternate running with walking. One minute walking, one minute fast running. Or you can alternate every 45 or 30 seconds. The idea is to not do the exact same thing every time. And mix up your total time. 30 minutes one day, 45 the next, etc. And when you run, go as fast as you can for that minute, 30, or 45 seconds. My trainer tells me it burns more fat and calories when you do intervals. I do not use the incline unless I am strictly walking or jogging...Keep up the good work!
I just bought 3 new bikinis online!!! If that's not a motivater, not sure what is...Well, meeting Kid Rock in those bikinis is pretty motivating =)

TammyRay's picture

yesterday's hour of dancercise to History od Rock kicked my ass, boy am I sore today..
thanks for all the tips and advise everyone--the other day I was able to keep the 40 minutes and up the incline and speed a bit on the treadmill, now I'm thinking maybe I should focus on distance and calories burned..why is this so damn hard?? well off to the store to buy more chicken breast, fish, fresh fruit and vegies, and yes more then likely some damn Ice cream, I think that's one addiction (along with Kid and TBT) that i will never overcome, and lets face it and be honest I don't want to..
Have a great Sunday and a wonderful week everyone--

Wish I was driven like you, Lisa. Keep it up ...after you nap. Lol

LisaG67's picture

Ok, brilliant me, sore from head to toe, front to back, decided to get on the treadmill to loosen up my soreness. I ended up doing 45 minutes of incline walking . I suppose I am glad I did something, but geez, I need a nap!

Mrs Cedar Michigan's picture

Oh Tammy, btw....after you do your 30 mins on the treadmill...take the next 30 mins and do your arms with free weights and some type of ab workout or two...... that is prime fat burning/muscle building time... I started with weights way back in June...I didn't add the Treadmill until the end of September.. so I lost 30 lbs just by choosing healthier foods, no soda, and light weights/more reps type weight lifting...
The more muscle you have, the more fat you burn doing daily things... I think that has made all the difference for me this time... :)

Thanks Lisa for those tips. I've never heard of that before! = )

Health--Food--and Body Quotes I came across that I thought would be "best fit" for this thread:

Health is like money--we never have a true idea if it's value until we lose it..

Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegies smelled like bacon..

The Good Lord gave you a body that can stand most anything--it's your mind you have to convince..

@TammyRay...I agree with MCM, increase the incline, and work your way up to 45 minutes. Keep up the great work you all! I take Green Tea Extract before my workout for that extra stamina. Although I haven't done this in a while, a couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar(if you can choke it down)in a glass of water twice a day helps to burn fat. Also the same amount of lemon juice mixed with water is also beneficial. I also take CLA capsules which is supposed to burn fat as well...I also need to get back on my whey protein drinks...But for now, another cup of coffee! It's supposed to go up to 52 degrees today, I may take a run in the park!!!

TammyRay's picture

WAY TO GO mcm..I'm sure it was your hard work, good choices and determination more then the ThermoPush..as for me I can not take any of that stuff, due to the medications I'm on--I just had to check with my dr. today for a vitamin suppliment that I wanted to start taking..I'll let my husband know though, he's been looking for something to take..

sensa in your beer, you crack me the hell up girl--GREAT to have you back here too..
muah, muah, muah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MsBehavin's picture

Okay----i am going to GNC tomorrow--have You Guys tried that "Sensa" stuff? i wondered if it actually worked---i'll sprinkle that shit in my beers--lmao :-)
It's GREAT to see Both You Guys on here :-) Tammy :-) and Mrs. Cedar :-)
~Muahs!!!!!!!!!! :-)

Mrs Cedar Michigan's picture

tammy: Now this is just my opinion...but i just went thru this quandry myself...stay at 30 mins and up your incline...then gradually increase speed...
I have also started taking ThermoPush from GNC since Christmas.. not only did I not gain any during Christmas, but I have lost 5 additional lbs since Christmas.. so I think that actually might be helping... I am at 55lbs lost since June 2011... its the best I have ever done! If I can....ANYONE can... because i figured at 41 that my waist was a lost cause... but guess what i got back... I can't even believe it was still in there...

TammyRay's picture

with all this exercise means healthier eating as well, so last night I pulled out the George Foreman Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine and grilled up some Chicken Breast for dinner. and I even traded in my much loved sour cream and butter for Salsa on my baked potatoe--
I up'd my 30 minute treadmill workout to 40 minutes, however I lowered the speed and incline a bit, what do you all think should I stick to the 30 min. more intence or the longer workout with less intensity..my goal is to get to a 45 min. to an hour tradmill session with more intensity..
maybe by april i'll hit that damn goal..(lol) laying off the snickers ice cream at night might help too..
Keep up the good work Ladies, I'm proud of you all---

Did legs today, squats, lunges, and a little plyo and cardio...Gonna pay tomorrow! It's all good!

Way to go RSMS! And, yes watch those knees. Catcher knee is painful. I so hope you get into that gown and then some! Do you have a YMCA nearby? They tend to heat the pools and offer low impact exercise for those of us with joint pain. I take Mila which is a high grade salvia seed, that I have found to help with, not only my joint pain, but also swelling in general. Started it after hubby took for a month in an attempt to avoid rotator cuff surgery, low n behold after a month and a week or so he was standing at the kitchen sink yelling, "HONEY LOOK AT THIS!" He was using full circular range on his shoulder without pain......
My girlfriends who started taking it with me ALL lost 7 -10 lbs. I was taking it for over a year b4 seeing weight loss. Yeah!
I'd happily send you a bag if you would be dillegent about using it. It cooks up to 500° so I put in in everything ;) after seeing its benefit I even put it in my dogs food.
Anyway I wish you all much energy and best of luck!

Way to go RSMS! Be careful of knees. There is lots you can do without stressing them...Just keep the faith, work hard, eat well, and soon you will be laughing at your hubby!!!

I worked on the Total Gym today (mostly pulley for arms). My stomach is still sore from the other workout two days ago. I have a LONG road ahead of me. A couple of the exercises hurt my knee (bad knee from catching). I'm getting a little better at controlling the pulleys and thanks MsBehavin for the tip about moving the wing bar down with the closer holes. It does help me. My husband is working out on his universal machine while I'm doing my thing. It helps to have a buddy although he still laughs at me quite a bit. I tried on a gown I have to get into by next Friday. It fits but if I can keep up the workouts, it should fit nicer by then. I just have to be consistent on doing this.

LisaG67's picture

I finally picked up the dumbbells today after just cardio for a week or so...Got a good shoulder, ab and a little cardio in...Went grocery shopping, no more leftovers! Lots of lean protein and veggies! Back to reality, and I like it!!!

TammyRay's picture

well i skipped the treadmill yesterday for some dancercising..Danced to the entire Born Free cd, and even repeated Rock Bottom Blues, think I'm going to do the same routine today, but with a different cd--Have a bunch of teenage boys in the garage using the punching bag and weights.. well Happy New Year and Happy "ercising" (danc, sex, or whatever your cup of Tea is) to all...

it would just be easier for me all around if I were six foot, model thin and could eat anything I wanted without ever having to worry...LOL

MsBehavin's picture

Good Morning and Thank Yous-- :-)
i'm about to get on the Total Gym and get back into my routine :-)
~Rsms---i'm 5'5" and had to put the foot accessory thing into the 2nd set of holes at the top (by the pulley thing---on the frame---there are 3 different sets of holes where You can attach the foot bar) for it to be the right height to do the crunches---have You tried that? i know it's WAY better for me--

LisaG67's picture

Love the poem Msbehavin! RSMS good for you for working out today. Nothin but the couch, a blanket and the remote control for me today. Happy New Year to all!

rocksavedmysoul's picture

Did the Total Gym and only got my hair pulled once. I'm getting better. It's hard for me to do some of the exercises because I'm so dang short. I have to kind of cheat on some. The abdominals are still kicking my butt. My husband still laughs his ass off when he watches me and I cuss back that HE should have had the three children! LOL

Wishn all you girls and guys a Happy 2012. Very proud of your will! Keep it up! XO
