Lol, It was just a fluke that we ended up there... We meet some people afterwards and one of the girls said she heard Bob was going there after the show. My husband was the tall (skinny) guy and I was the one with the shit eatting grin on my face!! What a great time -

K1mmy's picture

His girlfriend was an attractive brunette seem very down to earth. The girl w/the jersey was from California along her boyfriend-we thought he looked like Scott wells from the packers, or the singer from limp biz kit, but he was just a dude. As for as knowing where Bob was we didn't we were hanging out w/some couples from San Diego they were going to Habanas so we went-glad we did! How did u know he was there? By the way I was the girl just to the right of the jersey girl up on the rail against the wall so I was above everyones head we actually have a pic of the couple u r asking about they were really friendly.

kejm's picture

Ok, and what does his girlfriend look like?

K1mmy -

How did you guys find out he was at cafe habana? Also, any clue who the "big guy" with the foot- ball jeresy sit ting on the right of the stage was? - He looked so familiar... He had a girl with a greenbay jeresy sitting on his lap?

K1MMY - We flew from Columbus, Ohio - long story as to why but, it was also cheaper then flying out of Detroit which is only 45 mins away from where we live. I felt hung over all week at work from the time change and flying and I couldn't even tell anyone what we did!! I am having a major let down this weekend....It's not like we do this all the time. But I sure love to look at the picture of me and Kid Rock!!

Thanx KEJM for the info we will be looking for more of Blake in the future! Where did u fly in from? Sounds like we had the same flight schedules. I still can't believe it either- ur right the PROOF is in the picture we also got! We also have some amazing shots from the show, along w/ hundreds of other pics from past concerts. We have been reeeaaally lucky in the past to get some amazing pics. This was our 11 th concert, They only seem to get better!

K1mmy - the young guitarist's name is Blake Mills we meet his dad at the show and talked with him and his dad at Cafe Havana. I am with you it was such a once in a life time trip we flew in Sat night and flew out Monday morning. If it wasn't for the picture that Bobby had to take twice with me (the first was to dark) or the great shots at the show I would have wondered if it was all a dream - He is such a real down to earth guy!!

K1mmy's picture

We flew in from Green Bay & have to say it was worth ALL the time, energy, and cash we spent- it was everything we expected & more. Meeting Bobby was the highlight of our short 56 hr trip! I think I had an OUT of body experience. He is so down to earth & real. It was also great to talk to Shannon and meet Bob's girlfriend. A big shout out and THANK U 2 GIO - ur a great guy! We made some great new friends while in Malibu, everyone was extremely friendly making us feel right @ home! Would like to know the name of the young and extremely talented guitarist who went on stage w/ Bobby, anyone? Can 't stop thinking about what a good time it was.

Can't wait for the New Year & the new music Bob will come up with!
Thanks again soooooooo much.
Kim & Shawn
P.S. I need to get on the boat-turning 40 in May-HELP!

@KEJM That's great that you met Kid Rock after the show, especially since you flew in from Toledo! That Cafe is right around the corner from the Malibu Inn. I have some great photos from the night but my iPad won't let me load them. I'll have to wait until I can use the desktop. I don't know about all of you, but I can't stop thinking about the show and how incredible it was!!

We flew in from Toledo-The show was off the charts - The Band rocked the house so hard that the dust was falling from the rafters!! The Best part was meeting Kid Rock at Cafe Havana after the show.
camps42 the last song was Tush (BFG) - this is what was printed on the set list short for Billy Fucking Gibbons :)

The show was awesome. My boyfriend flew in from Detroit and said it was the best Christmas gift ever. I want to say thank you to Kid Rock and the band for putting on such a fantastic concert and allowing me to be a part of it and thank you to the new friends I made in Indio and Malibu

Thank You

I think I was right behind Camps42. It was my husbands 1st time at a Kid Rock concert and he finally gets why I like him so much. We had such a great time (with the exception of having to work so hard to keep our spots from the young lovely ladies that were sure they would get a chance at Bobby if they could just get closer....next time try waiting in line like the rest of us!) We met a lot of really wonderful people in line and appreciate the opportunity to be there. A Big THANKS to everyone that made this show possible. It was the perfect Christmas present.

We were very close to the front and Kid Rock was 10 feet away!! It was an amazing show and my ears are still ringing!! We drove 6 hours from northern CA and made it home by 3:30 am. I felt so lucky to be at such an intimate show. THANK YOU FOR ANOTHER AMAZING SHOW!! The energy was electric and I don't think anyone left disappointed. He sounds so good live!!

@Beckxy Malibu in the summer is fantastic! Last night was a bit chilly by Cali standards (about 50 degrees) but the guys right behind us in line had flown in from Michigan and they said that it was 9 degrees in Michigan so we shouldn't complain!!! lol We didn't complain we just danced in line to stay warm while we were waiting! We were also right by the ocean so that made it colder. You should visit Malibu some time! Did you know that you can camp right on the beach about 15 minutes north of there at Point Mugu? Extraordinary! That's in the summer, though!

I was in the front row also. AMAZING! It was crazy wicked fun! Love him. Love him everytime I see him. He never dissapoints me. Love my husband for giving me the gift of KID ROCK for Christmas. Thank you Bobby for Kicking ASS! Love you and see you where ever I have to since you NEVER go to FRESNO CALIFORNIA. So glad I saw you more then once this year!

P.S. My teenagers loved you in Sacramento also!

Great reads... I'm from the northeast coast.. been to Vegas once but that's as far west as I've gone. What's Malibu like? What were the temps? Anyone get together and hit a bar afterwards?

MiddleSister's picture

I was there with my daughter at the stage right in front of Kid Rock! We were first in line because we lined up at 3:30! It was a party in the line and worth the wait to get in. I have a ton of great pictures and will upload some as soon as I get a chance. I think that everyone who has already posted did a great job of summing it up. Beyond incredible concert! KR was in a great mood and spent a lot of time thanking US. We were all thanking HIM! My favorite moment of the night was when I was filming him and he zoomed in and made a funny face for my camera! That's the kind of mood he was in. Fun, playful and yet very grateful. I feel very fortunate to have been at this once in a lifetime concert at such a small, intimate venue. Yeah there were celebrities milling around, but I was there to see Kid Rock!!!!

Oh man.. I only had read the first review by Doah and already I had to post.. sounds like a great time. I jeolous I would of loved to heard a live version of "For the first time, in a long time".. I think I asked someone before if he kept with the same key as on the album and my friend said no. And Tush.. that song Rocks !! I think he's done that cover before.. and very long while back.. Great review : )

@LK'S I felt the same way last night; my battery died about half way through.

The best part of the show was being in such a small venue, and it truly felt like a private VIP show; I saw David Spade, and Jeremy Piven, and I heard someone say that Cindy Crawford was there; it was a totally different experience. I gotta give it up to Kid Rock for being such a cool dude to put on a small show like that, and to let some of this fans get in. Unbelievable show!!! I got to be right next to the stage, and got some good pics. I took some video, but being so close to stage made the audio sound like shit. I did get him on video though, saying that he's gonna do one last show in the D, next year. So, I was standing right next to Dave McMurray, and I saw they had their set lists taped to the ground, and after the show, he gave me his; here is the set list (as they typed it out, and the last two songs aren't on it cause the paper ripped):

Malibu Inn 2011
Jouney/shakes/
Devil
Rock Bottom
Forever-Cocky
Slow my roll
Waistin time

What I learned
Cowboy / lay it on me

Great seeing you play KR!!!! Letting the fans attend the show was truly something special for all us, and we can't thank you enough!!! I can't wait for the next album and tour; I've been listening to your music for the past 12 years, and it is literally the soundtrack to my life.....If it's real....You'll feel it!!!!!!

When cameras are allowed at concerts, having memories forever vs. being fully engaged in the live performance is always the dilemma! And, being a "shutterbug" doesn't help!! Of course my camera's battery died right in the middle of Blake Mills' performance -- amateur move -- boo!! He is another "kid" with tremendous talent, he was pretty spectacular!!

I may have gotten one photo of Billy Gibbons, let's hope! I have a few of him when our Mayor was giving ZZ Top the "Key to the City" many moons ago, but still, hope I did get at least one! I think I recorded most all of "For The First Time" -- fingers crossed people, fingers crossed!!

And, if only I could have crashed the after party at the venue (it just might still be going on back at Kid's Malibu pad; which, at the moment, is only a hop, skip and jump away . . . so close, yet so far : ) I bet Kid is glad Pam insisted they get a home in Malibu -- not a bad place to hang your hat, that is for sure!!!

Sounds like it was Fantastic, so cool for you guys! I'm a bit jealous though as I too Doah, love the song "For the first time" and you guys got to hear it and I didn't...BOO...-lol

Can't wait for your goodies (meaning Kid Rock stuff :D) to be uploaded LK!

So glad you guys had a Blast-I wonder what Malibu thought of it all! :YAY!!!

Thank You every one for sharing!!!

How cool! We went to Memphis for the Artist Den show but I knew he would amp it up for the Malibu show. It sounds like it was a blast. He really seems to care about his fans and its nice to feel appreciated! And us fans appreciate all the intimate shows. Rock On!!!

LK's Soap Box's picture

A unique Kid Rock bar show for sure!! He said he hadn't played a show at a place like that for 20 years! : ) Great KR experience! It ended with an extended encore and a surprise appearance by the legendary Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top!!

I'll post photos and videos when I make it back home. It was a great Kid Rock, fun-filled weekend!!

Doah's picture

Hi there! The show was off the charts great. The best Kid Rock concert I personally have seen. The energy was incredible! It was great to see the band smashed so close together on a small stage. Kid Rock seemed to be in a fantastic mood. He seemed to really love the feedback such as the shouts of "Thank you!" from the crowd. He was eating it up and seemed to love it. At one point he said, "This is the last show of the tour, okay, second to last show of the tour. I want to put together something for Detroit next year." I have seen a few of the shows this year and he always closed with "Born Free" but in Malibu he said, "That is where we usually end the show, but we're not gonna do that tonight!" He brought out Blake Mills, the guitarist that played on "For The First Time" on the Born Free record. They did that song, and I was so happy because "For The First Time" is my favorite song on the CD right now. Then, after that, he brought out Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and Blake Mills and Billy Gibbons and the entire TBTB did ZZ Top's song "Tush" to close out the night. The energy in the room the entire night was incredible! A night to remember for sure!
