We went to the Chicago show last night. It was incredible. We drove in from Michigan on Friday and got a good nights sleep so we could have some fun. Got to the House of Blues at 1:00pm and got a bite to eat. Eating allowed us to get into "pass the line" where we were in front of all the other ticket holders. We waited in line from 3:00pm until 7:00pm. We were 9th and 10th into the show room. Since it was a general admission concert we got spots right up front. The only people who ever were closer than us were the bouncers. For the first few songs they also had photographers in front of us but that subsided after just a few minutes. The entire show was exciting and electrifying. Even Ty Stone, who opened for Kid Rock, was very entertaining. House of Blues was a great choice of venue, it offered a very intimate environment (and being front and center supplemented that also). Now, were headed out of Chicago going to Memphis to see Kid Rock taping for "Live From The Artists Den." We got supremely lucky and won tickets. We can't wait!
All Summer Long was the first song in the encore. It was a great show!!
HOB Chicago was a great venue to see Kid & TBT. We drove from SE Michigan and arrived around 4:00 to get our tickets and join a few at Dick's Last Resort for the pre-party, followed lby pre-party in the HOB bar. It was a KR family reunion for many of us. I, too, saw Chris Chelios, but just let him be. The stamp for the pre-entry was well worth it for us, too. We had 1st balcony tickets and were about 30 people behind the line, when we got upstairs we noticed the obstructed view between reserved seats & bar, and a bartender said to check out 2nd floor balcony. We were the first people up to the 2nd floor, picked a corner view with no one near us and saw the entire stage and the sound was amazing! The last time I saw Kid in a small venue was back in '97 and I don't remember a thing... This time, I remember everything and it was a blast! Wishing all the best to the band on feeling better and for the fans in Memphis tonight for the taping, I'm very envious.
I've been to at least 25 shows in all different venues (DTE, Allegan, Boyne, Ford Field, Joe Louis, Comerica Park, cruise, arenas in different cities, etc)- this was the best show I have seen him perform, hands down! A small stage and venue and he still rocked the hell out of it. He played songs I have never heard him play live before - so that was cool. (Rock Bottom Blues, a full version of Midnight Train to Memphis, Lay it on me)
It was awesome. We were right by the sound board dead center and just above the main crowd on the floor. We met some great people - sorry I don't remember anyone's name - but we had fun. Kid and the band seemed to be in a great mood.
We saw Chelios a few times at the restaurant before the show, but didn't bother him. That was cool that he came to Chicago to hang out with Kid.
Have fun Rob - sounds like you planned Chicago the right way, I'm sure Memphis will be kind to you too. Memphis is a great city to visit.

I concur with everyone else that it was by far the most exciting show I've been to. This was my third show. We went and saw him at Pine Knob (Clarkston, MI) and Allegan County Fair (Allegan, MI). This show seemed much more personal than the others (although I had a blast at those shows as well). My favorite thing about the show was the minimal use of "mega-effects." At his other shows the fireworks and such have been a nice touch but it was fun to see him perform a very pure, unaided show. He is a terrific performer!
We were lucky to be local, so we got decent 'seats' as well. That was be far the best show I've ever been to!!
We just returned to Ann Arbor from last night's show. My favorite of all shows I've been to!!! We were dead center about 10 feet behind you Rumblin Rob...Looking forward to hearing about and attending a Detroit show, or 2!!!!
KTweedy, glad you got great seats also! Hope your drive back was safe..snow in the UP today.
