    Kid Rock's Exclusive CD With Meijer Is A Hot Seller

    Kid Rock's collaboration with Michigan retailer Meijer Inc. is generating strong sales.

    His exclusive 4-song CD “Racing Father Time” is a hot seller for the retailer that has nearly 200 stores across the Midwest.

    “(Sales) have been very good,” said Gerry Wilding, Meijer's merchandise manager for the retailer's Books and Music department.

    The CD, which sells for $4.96, is offered as a companion to the nationally-released CD “Born Free” which is this week's ninth best-selling album, according to Billboard 200.

    Meijer and Kid Rock's markets overlap. Sales of the Detroit-based musician's CD put him in the retailer's Top 10 highest-selling artists.

    The idea for the exclusive deal came from Kid Rock's camp, Wilding said.

    His management approached Meijer in the summer about releasing an exclusive album. The year before, Meijer sold an exclusive CD from Michigan native Bob Seger for a limited time.

    “It's turned out excellent,” said Wilding of the “Racing Father Time” CD. “We certainly would do it if Kid Rock wants to do it again.”

    Sales of the Detroit-based musician's CDs put him in the Top 10 of the retailer's CD sales.

    Wilding characterized Kid Rock's deal with Meijer as another example of the Michigan native's commitment to his home state.

    “I would say he's a fan of any business in the state and supports Michigan as a whole,” Wilding said.

    Introduced in November, Meijer's exclusivity deal ends Dec. 31. After that, it will be available to other retailers.

Absolutely Love the CD! You can order it from Meijer on line if you don't have one locally. But I got a question on what he's singing in the last line of the song "Forty" and can't find the lyrics on line. At approximately the 2:55 min mark, he sings ".. I can't say that I'm thrilled, but still I'm a ______ ________ cowboy, I don't need those little blue pills..." Any idea what kinda cowboy he is??? Appreciate any enlightenment you can give me.

I can't wait to hear these songs! Love the "Born Free" album; I bought it the day it went on sale. I'm a devoted Kid Rock fan and attend his shows whenever he performs nearby...but I live in Las Vegas now and I don't see any southwestern cities on his 2011 tour! What's up with that? I have to get my Kid fix soon! P.S. The cruise in April/May was unforgettable! He was an awesome host.

I bought the "Born Free" CD yestarday, and I think it is great. Is this a solo album? Where is the "Brown Trucker Band"? I've been listening to you (Kid Rock) since D.W.C. and I'm a true die hard fan, but one of the things I like is that you have a bad ass band with you. The whole sound that you have created is the same sound I must have been serching for, when I heard every track on DWC I thought, "wow, thats what I'm talking about", But I realy liked "Cockey", and it has the same sound as this new one, but it sounds more like you had the county music scene people in Nashville, help out instead of the "B.T.B.". I will always be a fan and just keep on KID ROCK'IN in the free world !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just think it's so cool how Bob (a.k.a. KidRock) has evolved in is music. Every album is a little different from the last. It just shows the talent that he has. He can do anything that he feels like doing at the time and succeed! I love, love, love this new album and I'm sure I will enjoy the new albums to come in the future! :) ThankYou for being on your own level of music Bob and NOT playing the same ol' shit!!! :)
