Rock musician Kid Rock performed a free concert for servicemen and women at Fort Travis Air Base Friday night. The Grammy-nominated artist also met privately with a selected group of active and veteran Airforce personnel before the concert.
"We've been standing outside for an hour, but we still haven't figured out what we're going to say to him," said Staff Sgt. Nick Brand, standing in line with his brother, Ian, also an enlisted airman.
Media was invited to videotape the interaction with Kid Rock, but minutes before service personnel went in to meet him, Kid Rock's management denied media access, saying Kid Rock wanted to keep the exchange private.
"I thanked him for coming out here and showing us his support," said Sgt. Ian Brand.
Other servicemen had guitars signed by Kid Rock.
No photos were allowed, but what was taken by the musician's staff members.
The concert started at 8:30pm with Kid Rock performing his radio hits.
