Great post CHRISSY55, We thankyou, your family and especially your husband. Please do your best to send a letter people - Kid Rock.

CHRISSY55 SAYS (1 hour ago) When I hear the word "Heroes" I think of our men and women serving in the military. My husband is currently active duty military (Navy) and is in Iraq right now. My "Hero" is my husband for his service and dedication to his country. I haven't seen my husband since June 2011, he is currently serving a 6 month deployment in Iraq. He will be home for Christmas, just don't know when the exact date is yet. My other "Hero" are my two kids, Ben (12) and Emma (10). I know this is not an easy life and they haven't seen their dad in 6 months, but their courage and strength are incredible. I love my family very much and can't imagine life without them. I know Kid Rock is a huge support for the military and this does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your support for our men and women in uniform.

Just one more thing...... if you would like to send an injured soldier a Holiday card, please see below. I have been spreading the word about the "Holiday Mail for Heroes" program and hope that we can send as many injured soldiers Holiday cards as we can. The address is as follows:

HOLIDAY MAIL FOR HEROES PO BOX 5456
    CAPITAL HEIGHTS, MARYLAND
    20791-5456

    Thank you so much!

Im so glad our guys & girls are getting to go home from the 9 yr war. I know most people are to busy, or at least they think they are,to show these people the praises they deserve. I think its great all the times you mention our troops and what they have done. I also think you taking the time to perform for them is something very special. This is something they will never forget. Thanks for giving back to our troops and taking the time to reconize what they do. You are a hero yourself and I wish more people would follow in your footsteps. Thanks for remembering where you came from and remembering the people who give it their all even if its not money.

Just wanted to say thank you again for your all the responses below. Phil's homecoming was awesome! We were standing just outside where security is. When Emma saw her Dad she said, "Can I pass this line and run up to him?" He wasn't the only soldier coming home from Iraq...... there were a bunch of soldiers walking with Phil anxiously awaiting to greet their loved ones. I am so blessed to have Phil home and so very proud of his work he did in Iraq! However, there are so many other soldiers not with their families right now. Please pray for their safety and that they will return home to be with their loved ones soon. Thanks again Kid Rock for responding to my post. Last night Phil and I sat down at the computer and read your response and your fans' responses. You truly are a wonderful person who cares about so many things. I am so thankful that you put out the word about the Holiday for Heroes Mail. I can't even begin to imagine how many soldiers will get Holiday cards...... from what I read below it will be a lot! God Bless and Happy Holidays!

Great news Chrissy!! So happy for you and your family, for sure it will be an extra special Christmas!! And, just like Kid said, "a big THANK YOU to you, your family and all the brave men and women serving this country. Yes, Kid, I DO believe I live in the greatest country in the world!! And for soldiers, like Chrissy's husband, who sacrifice a lot to make sure our country is well protected and that we sleep sound knowing this -- a letter or care package is the least we can do to show our gratitude and to brighten a soldier's day! And, even if the deadline has passed for Christmas letters, there are other organizations that send letters and care packages year round (LettersToSoldiers.org, AMillionThanks.org, SoldiersAngels.org) It doesn't require a huge effort, yet it can mean so much to someone that is so far from home, away from friends and family and, needless to say, facing such stressful situations. Freedom isn't Free!! Thank a Soldier!!

Thank you SO much for everyones' response. I can't wait for my family to read them all. If you are going to send an injured soldier a Holiday card please do so today. I talked to someone at the Red Cross, Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland today and she reassured me that your card will go to an injured soldier if mailed out today. I put my cards in the mail this afternoon. Thank you SO much for taking the time and thinking of the injured soldiers at the hospital. It will mean so much to them and their loved ones! Thanks again Kid Rock for posting my response with the address on your news wall. I was not expecting that at all and am so grateful that you took the time to do that. I hope you have very Happy Holiday and New Year! God Bless!

c55 please tell your husband "THANK YOU" for his sacrifice..I also want to Thank You and your children for your unselfishness..You Ben & Emma are brave and strong like a soldier..May God Bless and Protect your family always..Even if it may be to late to send Christmas cards how about a New Years card, or even Birthday cards because just like it's 5:00 somewhere, it's always gotta be someone's Birthday over there, and some may not have anyone to wish them a warm Happy Birthday..Just a thought--Enjoy your Husbands company Chrissy.. I just can't imagine what it would be like not to have the warmth of my husband's smile, touch, and love nearby. I'm a daughter to a Navy vet and a grand daughter to a late WWII vet.. truly runs in the family but.... Chrissy, Bless your heart for having the strength to get by the long days without your loved one close by. God Bless you and your husband for your sacrifices, serving our country, and providing America our safety and freedom. Wishing you and yours the most wonderful holiday blessed with your love for one another. ... and Thank You !

Thank you so much for your reply Kid Rock. And.... thank you to everyone for your kind words. I really appreciate Kid Rock and his fans thinking of my family and me. I was unaware of the cut-off date for the Holiday Mail for Heroes program, but I just spoke to someone from the Red Cross, Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. I asked her if I mailed out my card today would it make it on time and go to an injured soldier. She said yes. I also asked her what the very last day to send a card and she didn't know that answer. So, if you would like to send a card to an injured soldier please mail it today. I apologize for any confusion. I was just so excited to share the "Holiday Mail for Heroes" program with everyone. Good news to report..... I am picking up my husband tonight. He's been in Kuwait for the past week and I've been waiting for the phone call of when he was coming home ! I got the phone call from Phil last night. Ben, Emma and I are super excited and can't wait. I am very fortunate to be able to have my husband home for the Holidays. There are SO many other men and women in uniform that will not be with their families for the Holidays. Please pray for those troops and their families. Thank you! Thank you again for everyones' response. I can't wait for my husband to read everything tonight. Kid Rock..... you completely made my day by responding to my comment. Thank you so much! God Bless!

CRISSY55 ~ I read somewhere that last week was the deadline to get the letters out, and those not post marked by a specified date, will be returned. Is this the same effort? I will put a letter in the mail in hopes of the later. May you, your husband, Emma and Ben have a wonderful holiday season and an abundance of all things important to you all. Thank you for the sacrifice of each and every one of you. Best of All Things, kc, Jupiter FL

I have never been more proud to be a fan of yours. You were chosen out of thousands of artist to perform on such an honorable event. I tip my hat to you. I've had to defend my loyalty as a fan to many, but not anymore, your actions speak loud and clear. God Bless

Unfortunately the cutoff for Holidays for Heroes was a couple of days ago, and Walter Reed doesn't exist any longer so please don't use those addresses that were posted below. There are other ways of remembering our heroes in the military~ See http://anysoldier.com/ for other ways of sending mail and care packages to deployed military units who need it. Operation Homefront can always use donations, too. https://www.operationhomefront.net

When I think of heroes I think of those who stand up for what they believe . . . and I was very happy to send a holiday card to the troops. I believe that people should simply be nice . . . follow 'the golden rule' and always remember to walk with kings or commoners . . . with the same grace! Be grateful . . . and well I think that's exemplary to be an example . . . just be REAL~J anyway think KR is a blessing to so many . . . music rocks, but his soul has always been what shines through !

I just looked up the Holiday Mail for Heroes - it states if it is not postmarked by December 9th cards will be returned to sender. Is there any other way to get theses cards to soldiers. Looking around on the internet to find out....

sending cards to the military has been a tradition for the kids i work with for the past 7 years. The kids range in age from 6-18 and all have mental health issues. The cards these kids make are wonderful, sometimes funny most mostly just very honest and heart felt. i will continue the tradtion this year and use the address yu posted. Thanks and god bless all our military families !
