He and anyone else who wants to use my song do not need my permission. I said he could use it and I would say the same for any other candidate. I have to have a little faith that every candidate feels like he or she can help this country. Without faith, we got nothing. I make music to have it be heard. Merry Christmas folks! Rock on.

    -Kid Rock

PS: Any candidate who makes "So Hott" their theme song has a good chance of getting my vote.

I’ve got to say I'm a huge fan of Kid Rock's music, however if his stance is still the same as it was I’m DISAPPOINTED in his decision to let Romney use Born Free as his campaign song, to say the least…” Bobbie ~ Did you forget about Romney's opinion on letting your beloved Detroit go bankrupt??? FLASHBACK… November 2008, Romney’s opinion piece for the New York Times published "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.” "If General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye," the piece started. "It won’t go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed." To read the entire article go to: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/19/opinion/19romney.html THESE artists took a stand for their conviction that the use of their music would be considered an endorsement by any political candidate that was allowed to use their music: Tom Petty is a repeat objector to the use of his music by Republican campaigns. In 2004, Wixen Music Publishing president Randall Wixen told George W. Bush's campaign to stop playing Petty's "I Won't Back Down" at rallies: "Please be advised that this use has not been approved . . . Any use made by you or your campaign creates, either intentionally or unintentionally, the impression that you and your campaign have been endorsed by Tom Petty, which is not true." When Rep. Michele Bachmann played "American Girl" at a rally during her presidential primary run, she too received a cease-and-desist letter from Tom Petty's management. In 2008 Jackson Browne successfully sued Senator McCain and the Ohio Republican Party for using his hit “Running on Empty” as the music for a campaign ad attacking the energy policies of Barack Obama. He won an undisclosed cash settlement and a public apology from Senator McCain. Two years later David Byrne sued Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida for using the Talking Heads’ “Road to Nowhere” in a commercial attacking Marco Rubio.

I thought Kid Rock had more class than to shake hands with this ass. Do you know how many jobs he has eliminated by buying the companies and then closing them. Also all of his off shore hidden financial accounts? He's a pig and anyone who supports him is a pig also. I want to see all his financial reports and the ASS doesn't pay taxes. No support from me!! And Kid Rock I hold my head in shame if you support him! ;'(

The other night, ABC News had a story about the songs the candidates are using and have used in the past. Mitt Romney is using "Born Free". The news clip even showed parts of the "Born Free" video. http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/video/strange-gop-campaign-song-choices-15310491?tab=9482930&section=1206872&playlist=1887643 About a week ago, ABC News did piece on the Iowa Caucus and you could hear "Born Free" playing in the background when Mitt came out. Personally, I am not overly pleased with any of the Republican candidates. It's going to come down to who can beat President Obama. We need to get this great country back on the right path. Follow the Constitution that our Founding Fathers work so hard at - it's been working out for the USA for over 200 years! Bobby, I'm glad that you are keeping your political opinions to yourself. I will never see another Bruce Springsteen or Santana in concert. If I go to a concert (& spend big bucks for tickets) I surely do not want to hear about their political beliefs. I'm paying to be entertained. If I want to hear about politics, I'll go to a political meeting or watch Fox News. If entertainers want to preach their political ideology to their fans, then they should get into politics. Their fans forget that they are just ordinary people who work in entertainment industry, not someone who works in the political field. I'll get off my soap box now. Bobby, you just keep doing what you have been doing - writing songs, caring about the people who are less fortunate and making up proud in Detroit! Keep up all your great work!

I like Lowlife and Guilty....They would get my vote 10 times over( if I could get away with it) if they used one of those two songs for sure! Talk about hitting the nail on the head!

I USUALLY DO NOT READ THE OTHER COMMENTS BECAUSE I JUST HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO. I ALMOST REGRET ALLOWING MYSELF TO DO SO. FREE SPEECH...OK, FINE. BUT WHY ARE YOU ON THIS SIGHT TO BEGIN WITH?? I AM SO VERY CONFUSED ABOUT WHY PATHETIC, BITTER, JEALOUS, UGLY, DRIED UP, BORING AND SHALLOW PEOPLE WOULD BE ON THIS SIGHT TO BEGIN WITH. ALL OF YOU THAT I JUST DESCRIBED NEED TO FIND ANOTHER HOBBY. LEAVE US DEDICATED FANS AND THE BRILLIANT BOBBY ALONE. WE DEAL WITH ENOUGH SHIT WITHOUT YOU PANSY ASSES TAKING UP SPACE. THANKS, BOBBY, FOR ALWAYS BEING A VOICE FOR SO MANY OF US AND MOTIVATING OTHERS TO HELP THY NEIGHBOR. NOT TO MENTION, ALLOWING US TO VENT, RAGE, DANCE, ROCK OUT, AND/OR CRY TO YOUR POETIC, CREATIVE, INSPIRATING WORDS AND MUSIC. AND OF COURSE YOU ARE SO VERY NICE TO LOOK AT. MMMM. I TELL MY KIDS TO NOT CUSS BUT THEY CAN LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC BECAUSE IT IS A WORK OF ART AND REPRESENTATION OF FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. THANK YOU. XXOO. p.s. F what? F u....assholes. POINT YOUR FINGER IN THE MIRROR.

"BORN FREE" IS AN EXTRAORDINARY SONG FOR A GREAT COUNTRY AND A GREAT PEOPLE! Like you and Mitt I am a Michigan native born and raised in Mt. Clemens. I am a retired lawyer. My law firm was in Mt. Clemens for many years. My house was in Harrison Township on Belvedere Blvd, My former secretary, Vicki, had a part time job as a bar tender in Mt. Clemens. Vicki had nothing but great things to say about you. Also, when I lived in Harrison Township, like you, we always hoped to see you at your house on South River Rd. when we passed by in our boat on the Clinton River. I was ELATED to see your "Born Free" video on Mitt's web site. My wife and I are convinced that only Mitt can take America back. Thank you for the wonderful music. As a Michigan native I recognize the geographical locations in the video. They, like you and the song are WONDERFUL! I have purchased the album and MP3 download. I will be playing this music CONSTANTLY. Lastly, I think that you and Ted Nugent should get together for a drop dead INCREDIBLE song, album, concert for Mitt. TAKE BACK AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!

To the ones complaining about him backing Romney, If you would read what he said,ANYONE can use his songs! And if he is backing him so what! Listen to his song HE WAS BORN FREE! Free to back whomever he wants without judgement. He is a great person with a huge heart, whom helps many in need! If half of the wealthy people in this country were more like him, there wouldn't be so many starving homeless children! It makes me so mad no matter what he does to help, someones always gotta to make it negative instead of focusing on the positive!
JoJoSt's picture

to all haters out there, how many people have you help in the past year????? Live ,Love ,Laugh..:) Merry Christmas to each and every one!!!!!*? ?°*?

Exactly, "If you can’t see my heart you must be blind."

Kid, I love your philosophy on life. You are a very complex and interesting person, never mind your brilliance in music. People, it's his music to do with as he sees fit. Leave it alone, move on, and spend your time enjoying the holidays.

ruthie49's picture

it's a great song, for anyone who has the faith and the heart, like the man who sings it. love ya Bobby
KRLO's picture

Let's all take a deep breath, Kid Rock simply said that ANYONE can use his song for their campaign. If you even even vote on a candidate based on who sings his campaign song, then you need to turn in your voter registation card.

Thats a pretty generous outlook on your tune sharing, most artists require some type of performance clearance/royalty pmt to use tunes. But,as you say, music should be shared,as well as many other art forms. There are many patriotic songs out there, all of which contribute to the American musical landscape,,which in turn, makes this country a very special place! Thanks for all your good works, and wish you and yours a Happy Holiday season.
