    He and anyone else who wants to use my song do not need my permission. I said he could use it and I would say the same for any other candidate. I have to have a little faith that every candidate feels like he or she can help this country. Without faith, we got nothing. I make music to have it be heard. Merry Christmas folks! Rock on.

Just came back on this thread and can't believe it's still going on? It's too bad Kid Rock felt it necessary to have to make this post in the first place and it isn't even election time because people were getting so bent, what's next from people when it really comes down to election time :( It's a song and a really good one that all Americans can sing proudly!!!

So I'm gassing up my car with my windows rolled down blaring my Kid Rock CD. "Born Free" ends and all the sudden it starts up again. I was confused (no joke). Then I looked up at the flat screen TV they have on top of the gas pumps out here in San Diego and the news is talking about Romney using your song for his campaign. Weird coincidence! But my first thought was, "Did this guy get Rock's approval to use his song?" Came here to find out that you're OK with it.

Well, Rene, for the last election one of the most powerful people in the world, a certain black woman Billionaire, misused her power to tell her sheeple who to vote for -- Hello?!! And, a whole hell of a lot of people get very rich with hard work. Kid's dad is a self-made man, he put himself through college and then applied himself. And, regardless, Kid Rock passed his father's income by a few million by the time he was 28 from talent, hard work, sacrifice and dedication. And, the majority of philanthropists are rich white guys that GIVE their money away to help those in need, to improve education, to support the arts and scientific research. It's a sin to be greedy, it's not a sin to prosper. Most charities wouldn't even exist without "rich white guys" and to think otherwise is just ignorant.

I don't think a campaign song has ever dictated who was elected president folks, so calm down. I think this is a great opportunity for your song to reach people that may have never been exposed to it. I'm sure you are honored that he chose Born Free. It's a great song. I am a had working, middle class republican and also a loyal to the end Kid Rock fan and proud of it!!!! Rock on baby and don't let the whiners bug ya.

Just one rich white guy supporting another rich white guy for President. Nothing new here. Would have been nice if Kid Rock had the stones to stand by his choices instead of trying to spin it with "anybody can use my songs". Have some pride in your music and some courage in your convictions.

It's a SHAME that for all you've done to help charites, schools, and small businesses...you still have to explain your actions. It saddens me that so many of you have NO CLUE who is really for the middle class. You need to look at the policies that got Detroit into the mess in the first place! NONE of them were legislated by R's. Like I said before Democrats and the unions have had a death grip on Detroit from the local level all the way up FOREVER. Don't get yourself all messed up and then blame the R's when they don't want to give you more of what got you in the hole in the first place! Detroit is a product of Democratic policies. That is a fact! Now as for Kid's song! Love it and I am glad he is able to see that having Mitt use it will do good for everyone! GO KID GO

Kid, I work for a global nonprofit environmental organization. Can I use "Midwest Fall" or "Care" for a public service announcement? I recited "Times Like These" when introducing a band in Detroit a couple weeks ago at an event for Great Lakes scientists. Worked like a charm. They got it. We're all in this together. Love ya, Bob!

Music is meant to be heard, just like Bob says. No matter who uses or doesn't use the song in a campaign, Born Free's lyrics are what this country is about.
