Kid Rock Shows He Cares In A Very Big Way

Kid Rock is proving that his tune 'Care' can become more than a song, a video and a tour. The Detroit native is setting the example through his Care Tour, which has played smaller venues in 12 cities and seen the singer make donations to local charities in each town.

"My son is going to Belmont (University) now, and I'm all alone," Kid Rock told his Nashville audience at the city's famed Ryman Auditorium. "I was sitting at home trying to figure out what the hell do I do now? So I finally thought to myself, the one thing I love beyond friends and family is music. So why don't we get back to the music we love and go out and do something good for people?

"I started a charity a few years ago (the Kid Rock Foundation, based in Detroit), and there are a lot of good people in Detroit who need help," he continued. "But I decided to go out and play music in its most honest form, take some money and give it to our neighbors. By the time this tour is over, we will have given $375,000 to friends in these cities through the Foundation."

In Nashville, donations went to Gilda's Club, Best Buddies and Nashville Rescue Mission. Charities receiving funds in Denver were Safe House Denver, Excelsior Youth Center and Bikers Against Child Abuse. Also in Denver, Kid Rock gave a $5,000 check to a 17-year old Kentucky girl, Josie Krammes, to help pay for her enrollment in Lafayette-based Catalyst Alternative Private High School. The girl sees it as a second chance at life, which she plans to use to help other troubled teens.

Thanks Kid for the donation to Bikers Against Child Abuse! Ninny SE Oklahoma Chapter of BACA....

Bet you never invisioned yourself as a "Savior" to so many. If only we were blessed with knowing our path, we'd probably take better care of ourselves, lol. I belong to a few KR sites and you would be so proud of the connections made, and the constant HELPING HANDS that YOU have inspired amongst them. The fact that they are from all walks of life makes me feel HOPE for an unconditional acceptance, when we are able withold judgment and just see souls. On a selfish note, I am so psyched about the tentative name of the new cd, as I am thinking, there is a possibility those of us on that MUTHA FUCK'N BOAT may just end up on a live cut! Wooo Hooo. This Granny thinks it's a wonderful thing you are doing! Lived in your area in MI for a lot of years, and Macomb County produces a lot of great people. Keep up the good work, I'm sure your family is as proud of you as everyone else. Listen to Born Free almost daily! Got it from my Granddaughter last year for Christmas! Hoping there is another one coming this year! :)

Thank you Rock for your fabulous talent and your kind soul. Your generous ways have helped others to realize that its not always about wanting what you dont have but being happy with what you do, and that there is always someone whos got it a little harder than you do. God Bless you and yours and TBT this holiday season. I gotta feeling 2012 is gonna be a good one and can we include a new album too? ~ Meghan ~
