On November 16th Kid Rock put on a great performance at the Fillmore for fans in our nation's capital. The following local charities were recipients of support in Silver Spring, MD.

    The Family Place

Teodula first came to The Family Place in 2006 with her two daughters Heyshel and Yadira. The Family Place is a center which provides educational and support services to low-income families in order to help them survive and thrive in order to create a better life for themselves and their children. Teodula received counseling for domestic violence and attended parenting classes. In 2007 Heyshel was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia at 2 years old. Teodula's husband left her a year after hearing the diagnosis. The Family Place helped Teodula and Heyshel get through the years of chemotherapy and now Heyshel, 6 years old, is in remission, but continues to receive treatment to make sure the cancer does not return.

Half of the funds will go directly to the family for her continued support and wellbeing. The other half of the funds will go to support the Early Childhood Education Program at The Family Place and to support the numerous other low-income families who go to the TFP for support on a daily basis.

    So Kids Can

Capitals defenseman Mike Green and Elliot Segal of the "Elliot in the Morning" show teamed up to create the So Kids Can program, a fundraising initiative that benefits a different youth-focused, nonprofit organization each year. This year Mike, Elliot and other So Kids Can supporters partnered with KaBOOM! to raise money to build a Capitals-themed playground for an underserved community in the Washington, D.C., area. KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit based in Washington, D.C., is dedicated to saving play across the country and is best known for its all-volunteer, done-in-a-day playground builds. Once So Kids Can meets its fundraising goal and a site has been selected, Caps fans will be invited to take part in the playground construction.

Amazing, just amazing! So much. Wow, if it's overwhelming for us to just hear about or read... what in the world must it be for You and the Band to be a part of it. Forget cloud nine, I mean is there even a number that would go that high? :)))

This was my 3rd Kid Rock show this year and I couldn't be prouder to contribute to his success! This man rocked me in 3 states with his live music, continues to move me with every song and everyday with his heart in all of his actions to CARE! I would love to participate in any way with The Kid Rock Foundation to continue the hard work and love that was shared through this tour! Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with all of us ;)

I was at that show, I drove down from Johnstown, Pa it was well worth the three and a half hour drive. Not only is Kid an awesome performer, but you can tell that he truly cares about what he is doing. When he stood on that stage talking about the little girl and her family he was practically glowing. This man melts my heart with every move he makes and every word that comes from his mouth. Now that I have read more about where the money from the show went, I am so grateful that I had the chance to be a part of it. I am working on a degree in Early Childhood Education and then moving on to a Masters in Special Education. I work with children with special needs and no one can imagine how fullfilling it is to make a differnence in their life. Thank you Kid Rock for all you do both on the stage and off!
