Kid Rock To Help Injured KCK Mom

Musician Kid Rock is stepping in to help a Kansas City, Kan., mother who risked her life to save her children from a burning home.

On Oct. 1, Claudia Gonzalez made two trips back into her apartment to save her children. She was able to get two of her children out, but her 3-year-old son, Yair Ramos, died.

"He was so small," she said. "Sometimes, I feel guilty that I wasn't able to get him out first."

Gonzalez still suffers from burns to her face, arms and legs. She is being treated at the University of Kansas Hospital.

Kid Rock, who is performing at the Midland Theater in Kansas City, Mo., on Tuesday evening, offered to help. His foundation is donating money to a charity called El Centro that will help pay for her recovery.

Gonzalez said her extreme pain and the grief over her son makes good days like this rare. "This will be a big help to El Centro," she said. "I really appreciate Kid Rock because there will be other people who'll need his help, too."
