The rap, rock and country musician squeezed an arena production into the 1,800-capacity Egyptian Room in Old National Centre on Tuesday, and Rock explained to a sold-out crowd what brought him to such a cozy venue.

With his son, Bob Ritchie Jr., enrolled as a college freshman this fall, Rock said boredom spurred him to hit the road. Playing mid-sized rooms offers the chance to get up close and personal with fans, while the fund-raising element dovetails nicely with Rock's current feel-good single, "Care."

In Indianapolis, Rock donated $30,000 to the Make-A-Wish Request-A-Thon sponsored by radio station WZPL-FM (99.5). In all, last weekend's Request-A-Thon raised $460,000 and granted more than 70 wishes to children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions.

During onstage banter on Tuesday, Rock said he hoped his publicized giving inspires other acts of goodwill. He also cited Detroit-based companies --including Quicken Loans, Compuware and Fathead -- that financed the tour.

"Give Detroit, Mich., another look," said Rock, in reference to the Motor City hanging tough amid bad economic conditions.

What an awesome show, we made our way up from Cincinnati. What a great decision! Bob put on an awesome show. I told my wife not to expect much energy or uptempo tracks because the venue and stage were so small. Man was I wrong, Big Time Bobby brought the energy and rocked the house. The set list was exceptional, Born Free was a natural ending and wrapped up the show nicely. Although he didnt play "Somebody's Gotta Feel This" (my personal favorite) it would have been a perfect fit for the part of the show when he was talking about not giving up and pursuing your dreams. Great show as always. Ty was exceptional as well, although I feel he would have benefitted greatly from a drummer and some rhythm guitar.

I went to the Indy concert and it was awesome! It was my first KidRock concert and I had a wonderful time. I was pleasantly suprised that the average age of the concert goers was 45ish. He really rocked the house!

Way to go!! I read the whole review, a little mixed, "Rock who played an uncomfortably obscenity-riddled show at the Indiana State Fair back in '06" That statement cracked me up! Any way dude, hurry up & announce the Detroit dates!!

Best Kid Rock concert I have ever been to and I've been to a lot in several states it was very moving. It was awesome to see and feel how much you care about others keep up the good work you are truly a great performer and care about the working man it's nice to see that these days when all we ever see is greed. I never think twice when I spend my money on a Kid Rock show and never will!! XOXO

There is no doubt that what KR is doing has inspired many others to increase their charitable giving. Don't have to be a millionaire or rockstar to give either. Every little bit counts. My favorite is random acts of kindness. The little things along the road that make life better for a stranger. Giving of one self is equal to giving millions. We all have so much to give and share. Like the "Man" say the least we can do is care! Thank You Robert James Ritchie.

Taking a break from cooking for a moment and I came on here to see a wonderful gift once again to "Make -a -Wish -Foundation" - I just love reading about at each venue and what gifts are given to whom it's just wonderful! I hope that Kid Rock has set a new standard for other artists concerts/shows to follow suit and for it to be done with heart and not just publicity! I so love that he is doing this "Care Tour"! Happy Thanks Giving to Kid Rock and all, God bless!
