Times Like These
Times Like These
The lakes and pines they bleed of beauty and grace
And the rivers they run wild like an endless race
The forests soar so high then fall to the sea
As church bells ring and sing in harmony
I heard them say they’re shuttin’ Detroit down
But I won’t leave cuz’ this is my hometown
And it’s times like these we can’t replace
It’s times like these we must embrace
And even though it’s bittersweet and brings us to our knees
It makes us who we are, in times like these
The concrete and steel stand strong against the wind
With the memories of what was and what has been
The sounds of sweet soul music and blue-collar blues
There were 17 colors for a Chevy all red white and blue
I heard them say that you can’t save that town
But I won’t leave, I will stand my ground
And it’s times like these we can’t replace
It’s times like these we must embrace
And even though it’s bittersweet and brings us to our knees
It makes us who we are, in times like these
(Solo)
The ice and snow give way to a new spring bloom
In the wake that hope and faith they will be home soon
A new day dawns as the good Lord shines from above
Cuz in the rubble and rust there remains a whole lotta love
And I was here watchin’ it all go down
And I’ll still be, when it comes back around
And it’s times like these we can’t replace
It’s times like these we must embrace
And even though it’s bittersweet and brings us to our knees
It makes us who we are, in times like these
It makes us who we are in times like these

I so love this song ... I love all your music but this song touchs my heart in so many ways
going to get this kid you have come to full circle you got back to your roots hats off your true roots
I know he you wrote it about Detroit but the message has helped me cope with my mother's Brain Cancer. She is into her final days now and I am playing it in the car every time I go to visit her in the hospice and every time I leave to go home.
Thank You
Has anybody seen the ad for the new Chrysler 'Town & Country" mini van? The ad says at the end IMPORTED FROM DETROIT!!!! I always buy American and this vehicle will be my very next one.You don't have to buy a Chrysler product but If all of us proud Americans bought from the Auto Capital of the USA, they wouldn't be thinking of shutting Detroit down. We all have the power if we work together to keep Americans working. I will do my part to "save that town". Remember, power to the people. It worked back in the 70's. It can happen again.
you just said it all!!!!
Never get tired of ya babe.

BIG DADDY (last post) is my dad. I'm glad to see he's finally embracing Kid Rock like I have been bugging him to for years! It's nice that someone with a national voice like Kid Rock can support Detroit so much. Looking forward to the b-day bash at 40 Field- sorry Big Daddy, no parents allowed!!!
Makes one proud to be from the Detroit area! Everyone from SE Michigan should be proud of this song. Well done.

My grandparents lived at Vernor and Springwells when I was a kid and man, it was a great city back then. There are so many people who still love Detroit and who still have faith that it can be saved. This is a great song. Thanks Kid!!!
I'm with Marianne. I never thought I'd be visiting Kid Rock's site - or rushing out to buy his CD, but this song has touched me deeply. It's been a rough few years here in Detroit - but we'll come out stronger for it! Thanks for giving us such a positive, hopeful song!
Incredible!!!!!!!
Oh I love this tune. Thank you for another great one for my collection. Your cd rocks....
