I am a musician. I did not attend college and barley made it out of high school. I try my hardest to keep my ticket prices low, THIS I HAVE CONTROL OF.!! I can not control nor do i understand how the fuck the scalpers and all the secondary websites and bullshit get them. IF I COULD CONFRONT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM FACE TO FACE I WOULD AND IT WOULD NOT WORK OUT TO WELL FOR THEM I GAURANTEE ALL OF YOU. I hate them, i feel like someone is beating up a close friend or family member while im chained to a chair. I try to understand it, i try to ask my managers and people in the buisness i know to help me understand it, but it seems they dont either. The only way i know right now to stop it is to not buy from these people or wait till the last minute when there scared they cant sell em and have to sell them cheap. I am not gonna apologize for something i cant control and it you wanna hate or blame me for it, go for it. But if your really pissed about it, research it and try to find out why its going on and let me know. alot of us are trying to figure out a better way, trust me, the last thing i want is some bottom of the barrel lazy fuck who wont get a real job ripping off my fans to get rich. And no, this post was not consulted w my mangers or publicist, they would probly say not to post it, but thats not how i do things. This is right from my computer to yours. I hope it helps to understand at least how i feel about people trying to get tickets in my fan club or any other way that turns out to be a let down, THAT IS NOT MY INTENTION OR WHY I GOT INTO MUSIC AT ALL. Maybe i should shut down the fan club, because i dont want anyone to think im screwing them and i cant keep the "bottom feeders" from joining it, YET! I try to think of better ways to do things all the time, especially for the fans, but my main focus is always my son and then writing good songs, without those two things, nothing is happening. I will keep my mind spinning trying to figure out a better way to get good tickets to my true fans, and it brings to mind a new song on the new cd "the least that i can do is care" unfortunatley thats not gonna be enuff in this case. trust me im on top of this and doing what i can. thx

KRLO- Your right about the resources. I would gladly meet a scalper near 1201 Telegraph in Oakland County. Get a local news crew involved. Kid lowers his prices so the average fan (the one that buys the cd's) can attend. He loses money by doing this & we lose by not getting tickets. I say- scalpers beware! Hope they're getting a little nervous. If we don't buy them....then they have no business.

Three strikes, I'm out. I had the password for presale tickets on two different occasions, first time, unable even to get to the site, second time, kicked off right at the end, tickets were 6th row from the catwalk, then today, had four tickets, then kicked off the site. WTH is going on? Need to go back to standing in line. Only true fans will freeze their ass off. I have an awesome memory of waiting in line at the old Lucky Record Store in Bay City for Madonna tickets and got third row. Even though Stubhub and e-bay can be great sites, its people wanting to screw the underdog and raising to the top. Feels like politics, constantly getting screwed if you're a middle class citizen

How excited I was to find out that the Orlando concert was going to be at the UCF Arena!! I live 10 minutes from there!!!! OMG! Can you say "PARTY"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went through the "Community" to get pre-sale tickets for Orlando. The tickets I got were not really what (and where) I was expecting...so a few minutes ago, I went on Ticketmaster and purchased better seats. The Arena is not very large, so any ticket will be good, but being the crazy fan that I am...The Community tickets are being given to a couple who are new to the Kid's music. This is what folks should do, and NOT attempt to make a profit on REAL MUSICIANS, PLAYING REAL MUSIC!!! I understand that our Country is going through hard times, but I can bet these jerks never had a job, and will NOT use the profits to stimulate the economy... oops, did I just go political again...???!!! Sorry. Cannot wait for Orlando, Memphis and the Cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a bit of confusion today trying to get tickets in Orlando. I had a password emailed to me for Chicago's show from Live Nation & now I live here in SW Florida so that password didn't work for Orlando TM at 10am. Joined the fan club & presale was sold out (no problem). So I figured tomorrow at 10am is my time. A couple of hours later I got back on Orlando's TM & thought what other password might work - tried "cowboy" & I lucked out & I was in. All VIP were sold out so tried best available & lower level came up 3 differant times. Started juggling the thought of a possible Tampa or West Palm Beach concert maybe coming this way & waiting until than. Gave it a 4th try & around 1pm I had two floor seats & felt like I hit the jackpot! Love it & can't wait to be there - I've attended 4 Chicago shows, the last one in '07 at the Aragon Ballroom & needed a Kid Rock fix & might be able to incorporate this show right on into Bike Week in Daytona & it'll be a nice weekend get-away. I'm here in Cape Coral & it really sucks that no big name concerts come this way - 2hrs to either Tampa or WPB, is my only complaint & that I miss Chicago concerts! Can't wait to see you live again - Rock On!

Ok so the problem is you are just too damn hot!! Look at that face! The skelpers and ticket master are skum bags but they don't know who they are up against when they mess with you! You got it coming from the heart, shooting from the hip and the brains to back it up, you go right on rolling over them! Seen you in Toronto and you put the best show on nonstop and really touch every fan out there! Your Fan Club is the best on hear and would hate to see it go, People bitching at you are not your fans, your fans will have your back covered anytime!! Happy Birthday and keep on rolling!! Lauri

Use the system that Sammy Hagar has been using lately, the one where you don't get the tickets until you get to the venue with ID and the CC you used to buy the tickets, go through security and then get handed the tickets and must enter immediately does put a crimp on scalpers.
KRLO's picture

Cindy, that is the problem, it is considered a 'victimless' crime, even though we are reading about so many people that cannot get tickets, not that 'victimless' in my opinion, granted scalping is not going to kill anyone but it is still incredibly unfair. I can guarantee you Wayne County in Michigan has neither the resources, or personnel to prosecute, so if some bottom feeder is caught, they will pay the fine because they know damn sure they won't be prosecuted. It is tiring, I tried to research scalping in different states and it is a different statute in each county, city, etc, This is just a goat rodeo, no police force can enforce the hodgepodge laws. The states need to make concrete laws, scalping is legal or it isn't, stop with all the legalese and exceptions. JMHO. Laurie
Cindy_107's picture

Set up a sting operation. What cities are willing to enforce the law? In Michigan, selling tickets for more than their face value a.k.a. scalping, is a misdemeanor (90-days / $100 fine). See MCL 750.465(6). If people / entities are getting away with scalping tickets then it is because either the law just isn't being enforced in that particular county, or they have found the loophole and are exercising a legal exception to the law. Under MCL 750.465(2) if the resale is being done with the written permission of the owner, lessee, operator, or manager of the theater, circus, athletic grounds, or place of public entertainment or amusement where the event occurs, then the sales can be made at locations other than the box office where the event occurs. The owner, lessee, operator, or manager must have knowledge and provide written permission to charge in excess of the box office price. Commercial entities like Stub Hub at stubhub.com must have permission lest they subject the business to unnecessary risk. Persons who make sales on Ebay are likewise taking quite a risk and are probably not aware that what they are doing is illegal in Michigan and many other states.

I'm amazed at the feedback here. I'm proud of Kid Rock for speaking out! The Rock And Rebels Tour With Lynyrd Skynyrd 09 sold out just as quick, yet I was able to buy tickets from CoAmerica Park 4 wks before the concert. Have faith!

Whew, I am not to sure what the deal is on this. I am glad you care. Though you know business is business, there are always going to be bottom feeders with what ever you are doing. It is best to navigate thru them with out incident. Skip getting caught up and keep going forward. If you know you are selling the tickets at a reasonable price, it sounds as if people are purchasing bulks of tickets and then adding a mark up value to them. Which is what happens, they assume they are valuable....that is up until the last minute. Maybe a thought is have one dealer sell tickets or have them purchased only on your site for exclusivity and rights to get some sort of control on what happens to "YOUR" tickets. Redirect every thing to your site and have them purchase them thru you. Cutting out the middle parties. Also...put a cap on the number of tickets purchased at one time with one credit card one business name etc. Market your tickets that way. Also you can have them purchase the tickets at the venue location. For a second means of obtaining a ticket at its original set price. None the less you cannot control people. They are going to do what ever they want no matter how stupid it is... and there you have it. All you can do is make it a little more difficult for them in the process. If you know you are doing the right thing then move on. That of which I am sure you already know.

I previously posted my thoughts about the scalpers but I must say, nice pic. this is now my desktop background, love your eyes.

I hope this situation does not taint your birthday or the concert on the 15th. I was among the many online at 10 who were not able to get tickets. We are disappointed, but hoping you'll be back home at Pine Knob this summer and we'll see you then. On a different note, I was in Florida this week on business and talking with heavy equipment dealers about their business. Conversation got around to music and likes/dislikes. One of the dealers mentioned how impressed he is with Kid Rock and how he's expanded his musical style to cover virtually all gendres (okay, maybe not opera or easy listening). The expanded group agreed enthusiastically and praised the new album. Just a tidbit on how your fan base is growing. You are certainly doing something right. Congrats on the Graceland tour. My mom is such an Elvis fan - I hope to her her down there soon. I'm thinking you must share an astrological sign with the King? Happy upcoming 40th - enjoy your party downtown. Your Clarkston neighbors will the thinking about you.

Bob! do not shut down this fuckin fan club! I joined after I got our VIP tix, so I could get that damn football & jersey! I wasnt relying on the fan club for tix! I like it just to post shit, all I want is to rock out at that concert! there were a lot of people bashing you over this ticket thing, common sense should tell people you are doing everything you can for your fans! I seen a guy post " why be a fan club member if you cant get tickets early " thats an easy answer cuz were fuckin fans! if your not a true fan get the fuck out of the club! & Bob your right, the way to handle this in the short term is to not buy tix from these fucks! they get scared as hell the closer the show gets, shit i had a cup of coffee 4 VIP tix by 10:05 and gladly paid the 350.00, i would have paid the 800.00 to get on stage but way too much security up there for me, i get a lil outta hand & wanna be able to fire up at will! Bob were lucky to have you, you belong to us, you fuckin son of Detroit!

I got tickets through the directions posted through the fan club site, at first I wasn't having any success, but patience and perserverence paid off! It's kinda like the lottery, you may put in your choices and they are not available, you have 6 minutes to input all your information to complete the transaction, do you realize how many people are doing this at the same time you are? If they change their minds, or time out, those seats come available again. Just keep playing the buy tickets game, the numbers could come up for you! If at first you don't succeed, try again, and then try again.....I did and it worked! Patience and Perserverance People! And Thank You Kid Rock and the people behind the fan club. mi.shawneerose

as KIMBERLINA says, you are real as real gets. LOVE THE NEW CD. saw the special with you and your son.............my gut tells me you are a good dad. he's a cute kid, and like you said, he's got some big shoes to fill. i have 2 sons, and it is a great gift to see them grown into men. don't let haters get to you. we LOVE SOME KID ROCK IN WICHITA KS!!! i know the economy is hard everywhere, but you are coming to the heartland soon, and the aviation center of the US. unemployment is so high, and they keep shipping jobs out of America. We have a base here, and our boys/girls are coming home to NO JOBS. THAT IS BULL ****. I PRAY that someday you can write a song about sending work out of this country when we have so many that are unemployed.

This is very easy to stop. Last year I went to a Spinal Tap unplugged show. If you wanted seats in the first 20 rows, you had to pay for the tickets then pick them up the day of the show with your I.D. If you do not have your I.D. you cannot have the tickets. I called 30 minutes after the show went on sale and got seats 10 rows back. Why? Cause the scalpers couldnt buy then sell those tickets. It was a sold out show and had nothing but fans in the first 20 rows. There was very little line to pic up the tickets but so what. I wouldnt have minded waiting in line for 30 minutes; better than spending double the ticket price. Today you have people in different cities buying tickets to shows in other cities cause they have a way to get the tickets and resell them. Kid Rock, if you want to keep the ticket prices down and not have your fans ripped off, then just make the best seats only available if you pick them up the day of the show with your I.D. Problem solved.

jc If I were Kid Rock, I'd be feeling pretty used by now. If he didn't draw a crowd the money grabbers wouldn't care. Where were they when the kid needed a leg up? They are just bottom feeders.

IMLAWBREAKER: Yes please tell me how I am breaking the law and should be ashamed, IMLAWBREAKER. danielman1@hmamail.com Oh the irony. MIKE: Please cite a source for your research. Perhaps I should clarify. I am not running programs like the recent wire fraud indictment of Wiseguys. I simply buy a few tickets when the presales open. Please show me how selling tickets for above face value on stubhub is illegal. It would be one of the easiest crimes to prosecute as they have all your information as well as the tickets that can be traced to your credit card. Some cities do ban reselling near the venue, but I work exclusively through stubhub. I agree with your assessment on season ticket holders getting too much access. This is simply due to the ownership of the venues in which artists perform. I have discussed this earlier.

Right on Kid... I could not afford to get pre-sale tickets for Ford Field so I tried my ass off to buy through Ripoff-Master online. No tickets available 10 minutes after 10AM. I was pissed I did not get my tickets but on the other hand I thought "holy shit, Kid sold out Ford Field that fast" and was happy for KR &TBT! For the hell of it I check out Craigslist and guess what? KR tix are for sale... For alot more than they just bought them. Here are a couple I found around 10:30AM Nov 27 Brokers or not...FUCK THESE PEOPLE: http://www.313tickets.com/ http://premierticketsnow.com/ResultsTicket.aspx?evtid=1511510&event=Kid+Rock I am sure there are a shit load more. Anyway, I WILL try again this Saturday for the G-Rap show. Wish me luck! Thanks for looking out for us Kid! I truly believe you do care.

This is for Kid Rock even though he will never see it because it will never get to him (lol) ...even if I did research on the Ticket Scalpers and came to a conclusion, I wouldn't be able to tell you because you never left any info on where to send it. Thank You for caring. Stay Safe & Healthy & have a drink for us lol.

$80 for a $30 ticket seems to be a good deal these days. The $19 six pack tickets from Detroit are selling for $100+ on eBay, Craigslist and the broker sites.
mbschwerin's picture

First off Danielman, scalping IS illegal...so unless you have a ticket broker license, then you ARE breaking the law...you and people like you are in no way similar to a car dealer or any other retail establishment, for many reasons, that I don't have the space here to list. I went and did what Kid asked...research. What I found out is there are really only a handful of REAL brokers out there that get their tickets directly from Ticketmaster, they are national and feed lists to all the rest of the ones you might be familiar with...then there are companies that duplicate websites and allow people to become "brokers" for a small fee and sometimes even free. This new "broker" buys tickets from the NATIONAL broker at a specified price and can mark them up to ANY price they want. The "broker" only pays for the tickets if they sell them. Take a look on Craigslist, you will see many different web sites that look almost identical, selling the exact same tickets, just with a different name..,these are those cookie cutter websites. A lot of the tickets come from season ticket holders and corporations that don't want the concert tickets or in some cases are allocated by Ticketmaster to the national broker. The fact is, stadiums need to stop giving away prime concert tickets to season ticket holders unless they are going to attend the concert. This is ultimately cause by a problem that Eddie Vedder tried to fight against in the 90's...the Ticketmaster monopoly. Ticketmaster bought out their only competitor...Ticketron...years ago. Somehow this got through with no problem...but it took XM and Sirius almost 2 years to get an approval for a merger...go figure. Do I have the ultimate answer? No...but I can tell you that selling tickets locally to local people would be a lot better than making them available to everyone all over the country on presale day. That won't happen as long as everything goes through Ticketmaster.
bellefleurgirl's picture

Thanks so much for caring about this. It sucks to pay $80 for the worst seats in the house (Gillette Stadium), knowing all along that you shouldn't even spend that money, then you get the tickets and the selling price is less than $30. I can bitch and moan all I want but that's not changing anything. There must be a way to do something about it, but for now, we pay the prices if it's someone we really want to see! It's refreshing to read your honest thoughts about it !!

THIS IS ONE REASON THAT I'M A KID ROCK FAN. HE'S REAL HE CARES HE'S ALSO VERY TALENTED AND VERY SEXY! I HOPE HE KNOWS HIS TRUE FANS WILL ALWAYS BE HERE FOR HIM!

MP: Greed is certainly at a higher level today than years ago, but it is also much more difficult for entertainers especially in the music industry to make money today. The prevalence of digital media has shifted their earning potential to performing concerts where the consumer is forced to spend money to hear a unique experience. Margins are simply much lower now which increases the need to raise prices in other segments of their brand. Less income from record sales, more money from concerts, fan clubs, etc.
danielman's picture

B2R: How is my practice of reselling tickets taking money from Kid Rock? I am not stealing tickets from him, I still have to buy his tickets just like everyone else. He could have charged what I charge and still sold out his concert and eliminated scalping since a scalper would not be able to make sufficient profit to justify the risk of buying a ticket. I certainly understand your frustration, however. Ticketmaster and the other various corporations (e.g. American Express and radio stations which sponsor presales) are the ones who take a piece of Kid Rock's earning potential.
