I got one fer ya-- I woke up from a dream a Devil without a cause had a dream of a black chick ,white guy in the background i heard the Party Ode.Today im feeling like a Gangster from the Oldschool.
(CNN) -- For the first time in years, "Monday Night Football" viewers did not hear Hank Williams Jr.'s intro "Are You Ready for Some Football?" after ESPN pulled the song from the broadcast following remarks Williams made about President Barack Obama.
In an appearance on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" Monday morning, Williams referred to a June golf game with Obama and House Speaker John Boehner on the same team, against Vice President Joe Biden and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, as "one of the biggest political mistakes ever."
Asked what he didn't like about it, Williams said, "Come on. That'd be like (Adolf) Hitler playing golf with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu. Not hardly."
In a statement Monday, ESPN said that while Williams "is not an ESPN employee, we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to "Monday Night Football." We are extremely disappointed with his comments and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight's telecast."
In a statement issued through a representative, Williams, son of legendary country singer Hank Williams, acknowledged his analogy was "extreme -- but it was to make a point."
"Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood," the country singer said. "... I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me -- how ludicrous that pairing was. They're polar opposites, and it made no sense. They don't see eye-to-eye and never will."
Williams, however, said he has "always respected the office of the president."
Still, he noted, "Every time the media brings up the tea party, it's painted as racist and extremists -- but there's never a backlash, no outrage to those comparisons ... Working-class people are hurting -- and it doesn't seem like anybody cares. When both sides are high-fiving it on the ninth hole when everybody else is without a job -- it makes a whole lot of us angry. Something has to change. The policies have to change."

Censorship, or should I say extreme PCism, is alive and well in America! As a few people have learned along the way -- it's best not to compare ANYONE to Hitler, if you want to keep receiving a check that is. Like Megan Fox, who was fired by Steven Spielberg on the latest "Transformer" movie after comparing the director, Michael Bay, to Hitler. When likening someone to an evil dictator, looks like Napoleon or Leona Helmsley might be a safer route to take! But, I must add that Hank, unlike Megan, didn't compare a person, a.k.a. Obama, to Hitler; he used him to make an analogy that was extreme. Big difference, people, big difference!!

Also, check our Carter County Radio, internet radio from Carter County, Tennessee (Eastern). I have bought some land up there and plan on moving there (Townsend, TN - Smokey Mountains) sometime real soon (five years). The music mix is clearly Tennessee music with a sprinkle of old classics. Really live the mix.
LK's Soap Box - One thing about those comments on Fox News was the flow of conversation. Hank Jr., "They are the enemy!", Fox News staff, "Who is the enemy?", then Hank said, "Obama!" This was before the analogy and therefore Hank expressed Obama as the enemy, THEN goes on to allign him to Hitler. If the "enemy" was not defined as Obama first, the analogy would have been understood differently. The whole conversation and the linkage expressed a clear position by Hank. I have no doubt Fox News used this to excite their viewership who agree with Hank about the enemy being Obama. However, Hank Jr. acted like someone who for the first time had an opportunity to express his opinions to the world and was just so excited to define Obama as the enemy.
We all need to think first before we say or WRITE anything. Keeping in mind how what we say (or write) will impact the feelings and the interpretation by all, proponents, as well as opponents. It offended me too, but when he came out and stated that he wasn't fired, he quit. I was fine with the idea he quit, so it is not like ESPN fired him, so his rights, if any, were not steped on. He quit! Anyway, we can all take a deep leason from this episode. If everyone learned something positive about this, then we can all move on together as a nation in a positive direction.
Yes, Angel, I think you're right. But, only if people stop saying stupid, annoying-ass-hell things. So, I can't make any promises . . .
Ok Peeps what do ya say we let this blog go sweetly into that Goodnight. or whatever. Looks like everyone has had there say.
The next person who posts here would be like Castro sending boat people cigars.....lol
So very right TC!!
LK Soap Box, I agree it is getting very very old. All the more reason we should fight extremism and stand up for what is right and fair. I have experienced the same craziness. It is a Florida thing. Shouting out at Town Hall meetings. Fear of change. Scaring old retired citizens about loosing Social Security. All bad communication. We all have the same freedoms, but freedoms can be abused and hurt people. That is where the line should be drawn, no matter what your politics. What a great country we would be, if we ever are united once again.
Looks like Tom made some posts and then deleted them. So, below is my response that may seem kind of random ; )
So your ignorant neighbors in Florida represent to you ALL Republicans?!! That's sad Tom. You know the married couple who can't really stand to be married to each other anymore, but stay married because people told them it wouldn't last; so, to prove them "wrong" they stay married and stay miserable. Your situation kind of sounds like that. It's too bad that "love thy neighbor" is alien to some neighbors out there. But, life sure is much sweeter (and safer in your case) when the neighborhood you live in is like that, especially with kids.
And, btw, Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and, of course, assassinated. I don't think the guy that shot Gabrielle Giffords had an anti-Democrat agenda when he did it. It can't be rationalized why he didi it, he's clinically insane; so, not a good example of the dangerous of being a Democrat, sorry.
Republicans and Democrats haven't "ruined" it for everyone. Extremism has, it's destructive and nonproductive. Stop the madness, people, stop the madness!!
"Democrats are not allowed to have the same freedoms of speech or thought as Republicans". Please, Tom, Hank's song was pulled because of an analogy, for cryin' out loud!! A mountain was made out of a molehill because extremism in politics, and the ever-increasing extremism with Political Correctness is alive and well in America, unfortunately. It's getting old -- very old!!
Well personally I am glad Hank Williams, Jr. decided to quit ESPN and the Monday Night Football introduction. A long time coming. Very passé. God Bless America!
"Why the sunglasses, if your eyes aren't dilated from some good quality drugs" you ask Tom? Sorry, but you really are looking like a complete imbecile at this point. I think you should start working hard on improving your own hypocritical self -- immediately!!
See, the reason that Hank Williams Jr. is mostly seen wearing sunglasses is due to a horrific accident that happen to him when he was 22 years-old. He fell 500 feet off Montana's Ajax mountain, the snow gave way beneath his feet. His face was literally split in two, opened down the middle, hairline to chin. He had to learn to talk again and It took plastic surgeons two years to reconstruct the shattered bones.
"Why doesn't he donate some of his money to help the poor?" you ask Tom. You mean like the $125,000 to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in Biloxi, Mississippi that he DID donate?! Or maybe you mean like how HE organized a country all-star disaster-relief concert for tornado ravaged Alabama?! Or perhaps how, in 2006, he "visited with Randal McCloy Jr., the only survivor of the Sago Mine accident in West Virginia. He traveled to the hospital after learning that McCloy was a fan of his music. It just hit me like a ton of bricks because I had a big mountain fall in the 1970s, and they said I wouldn't live. It really, really affected me, and I said, I've just got to go there and meet the family.
Where do you get your information from Tom, or don't get your information I should say! I guess taking the two minutes to do a search and then read about Hank Jr. before FOOLISHLY bashing on him would make too much sense, huh? You must believe everything you hear and and everything you read to be the truth, as long as it's fed to you by your party politics.
The FACT is that Hank Jr. DID NOT COMPARE OBAMA TO HITLER!! Listen for yourself! But, something tells me you are not capable of thinking or observing for yourself politically. You are among the sad flock of "Sheople" that roam on both sides of the fence!
Angel, how true, Hank gets fired for a stupid and I do mean stupid analogy. To be fair, the Dixie Chicks suffered for their bashing of Bush, but have come back, I just wonder if Hank will recover, No I also do not believe he is a racist. I too respect the office of the Presidency, He was elected and deserves the respect, but that does not mean I or any one else can't use our freedom of thought to express our opinions. He was not jailed, a business decision was made pure and simple. Probably in my humble opinion because of the Commisioner of Football, Roger Goodell, and PCness. Pcness is going to kill the country because everyone will be afraid to express an opinion or ask a question, because it might be percieved as racist, or sexist, or a homophobe, or a whatever. My kid came to me and told me one of their friends was gay, and asked if I had a problem with that, I never have, never will. it opened up a great discussion with my kid and frankly all my kids. Yea in the first stage of the gay marriage debate, I had a little problem w/ it. But once I read more, I learned more, Oh horrors of horros, you read, you learn!! I think both parties are asshats also.
I just think it's bad when someone ask a question and than take offence to a respones and/or use it against them....and drugs? who dont use some type of drug?
Well at least, Angel, if Kid Rock was President he'd "let our hard working immigrants stay here, and depart dumb ass hoes like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears!!" ; )
I am a Republican. I respect president Obama. I respect all presidents. I know how disheartening it was for me to watch the democrats belittle Bush non stop so I try very hard to not support any president bashing of any kind. Whether or not Obama is doing a good job is obviously in the eye of the beholder. Frankly I dont think any of them are doing a good job.
Wow, Tom, you said you, "worked hard to put some balance" in your statement". Really?!! Maybe you're not aware of the true definition of either hard work or what a balanced statement means!! Sheesh!
Yes, it's a fact that back in the '80s Hank Jr. had a drug and alcohol problem. But, it's a fact that you didn't say or allude to that small detail. You said, and I quote, "he HAS a binging habit, was obviously under the influence, and this means he has less money to fund his binging habit."
And, btw, if you're so disgusted with people who have had a drug or alcohol problem, why do you still like Kid Rock?!!?!!
It's obvious you're a bigot against "Hillbilly Rednecks". Just because someone is a hillbilly from the South doesn't automatically make them a racist. I'm just attempting to guess why you have such distain for country folk? And, are you really gonna say and, even worse, really think that there's a difference between a racist and a white supremacist -- I'm at a loss for words. No, wait, that foolish statement makes you look like the biggest ignorant FOOL on this entire post!!!
It's also a fact that Hank Jr. didn't amass a huge following, sell tons and tons of records and receive numerous awards without being a talented singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He bucked the "system" and came out on top. You're even foolish enough to say he didn't write the Monday Night Football song. Still waiting for you to tell us who did if it wasn't him? Facts, Tom, Facts.
Needless to say, this particular "Hillybilly Redneck" lives pretty comfortable, I'm sure his family and he want for nothing. Well, maybe to not be called a racist; but, besides that. And, really if you can take the time to bash on him, take the time to copy and paste this link to bring up this photo. Looks like a genuine friendship he has with that "person of color" doesn't it?!!!! I don't think he, or Bossy, were brought along to haul back dinner!!
http://www.kidrock.com/news/in-alabama/
Yeah, Hank's the son of one of the legends of country music, but he didn't really even know his own father since he died before he was 4 years old. Tough way to grow up!! And, btw, how many people do you know that have fallen 500 feet off the side of a mountain and lived to tell, and to sing?!!!
You say, "We all have freedom of speech until what we say inflames feelings of hatred and fear and hurts others." Incorrect. I could go protest a soldier's funeral if I was a member of that horrid cult. I can say hurtful thing that are full of hatred and I won't be hauled off to jail for it. And, thank goodness we can criticize our government without being locked up or killed.
But, it's pretty sad that a "redneck" celebrity cannot use the word Hitler to describe how two sides couldn't be bigger enemies with each other, and it then be taken as him saying Obama is like Hitler. That not what he said, and that is a FACT!! People are just blinded by their own hatred and myopic point of view. And, Tom, you just proved it.
White supremacist???? bwahahahahahahah Man, You are a funny, ignorant man.. Hank Jr is considered family to the owner of this site.. Family includes his son whom just happens to be biracial and spends some time with Good ole Hank, Huntin and fishn...
People who dont have a fuckin clue should attempt to get one before talking SHIT>>>
If you think its easy to do interviews on Natl tv, You should try it sometime. Dude made a stupid analogy.. get over it!!!
Heck Angel, if we did what you suggest, that would mean I'd have to move away from the state I currently reside in! This state has some of the most scenic landscapes and sunsets in world, with spring-like weather for most of the year. (But, if I could blink my eyes and twinkle my nose, I would live in beautiful Lake Tahoe, NV with a second abode on the magical island of Maui, Hawaii (No Ka 'Oi) and, of course, somewhere on the northern coast of the Mediterranean -- but, I'm digressing). Of course, I can't do that (yet ; ) and there are worst places to hang out than where I'm at now, it's a comfortable existence. But, Holy Moley, some of the asinine stuff that this state's government enacts is mind-blowing!! So, I certainly wouldn't want them to get too much power; I'd have no choice but to move if that was the case. But, I understand that you'd prefer to not have a centralized government. I don't know -- doesn't it seem that "one" always needs a "parent" around to instill, maintain and enforce some kind of rule and order? "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. ? Aristotle
But, back to the main topic of Hank Williams Jr. on this Kid Rock forum.
In all seriousness, would Kid Rock, Bobby Ritchie, be friends with and even refer to Hank as his Rebel Father, if he thought he was a racist, anti-Semitic, woman hating no-talent bum??!! I don't know Bobby Ritchie personally, unfortunately ; }~ but, I feel like I know him after being interested in him from way "back in the day" -- I have no doubt, and can say with full conviction, that RJR/KR would in no way associate himself with such a person. Zero possibility of that ever happening.
But, can I also mention that I rode one of the most fun amusement rides, yesterday!! It was called Power Surge (had to take my flip flops off, so as not to lose them ; }~ Feet dangling, four man seat (two seats really, set back to back) and that baby rotates to a 90 degree angel while turning (and spinning) you 360 degrees!! FUN!
Wow!!!! Did this get crazy.
Ok Im gonna wade in just a little and hope I dont get my ass beat here.
I am not defending Hank Jr's comment. It was a bonehead comment. And I'm glad he apologized.
I can however agree with some of his politics. I believe Hanks fear of Democratic Gun Control laws are a big part his issue with Obama/ etc... I believe he favors smaller government and being left alone to live his life the way he believes he should....
I do NOT believe Hank Jr is a racist or a woman Hater. In fact im positive..
The thing that maybe bothers me the most about this whole thing....... A celebrity makes a comment about a democrat and OMG the world goes bananas. Fuckwad Russel Brand stood at an award show and in front of the world Slammed our president (Bush)called him stupid and everything else.. No reprecussions. Tons of celebs, media and politicians drug Sarah Palins family thru the fucking mud. But thats ok cause shes a dumb bitch... Right??? This whole thing seems a lil lopsided. Maybe Im wrong But you aint right....
Like I said, Hanks Comment was stupid. He knows it was stupid. And I dont know why anyone would compare Obama to Hitler. I dont even get that at all. Do peeps think he hates Jews because he trys to talk to palestinians...? seriously I dont understand...
My opinion is cut the federal gov in half. Send all those hi paid morons home. Put the power back in the hands ofthe states and start over.
Oh so sorry 420 (did it twice actually) must have been a Freudian slop ; }~
See -- now 420 can be seen in a different light for "saying" what he didn't say. Yikes!! Poor "commenting" sure can get be damaging. But, um, yeah, yeah, I meant to do that. Just seeing if you were checking your facts and on your toes!! If you believe that's true, I've got some ocean front property to sell you in Arizona!! FL, maybe you should double check that zip code on your "tropical" address!! Juuust kidding.
This beautiful Fall evening will not consist of Baseball, Apple Pie and Ice Cream, but instead of Boy Scouts and a Parade to go along with Brats & Beer at the Oktoberfest that has my name on it as I mentioned; so I must now "leaf" you, get it . . . leaf, leave you all. Okay, stepping off my Soap Box til next time. Cheers!!
Uh oh, I left out a very important word!
I should have said -- the rebel son is so much like is "rebel" father. We don't need anymore people thinking that Hank Jr. is actually Kid Rock's father. And, if they get their information "just" by that post (by chance ; ) they may just accept it, or see it, as the truth. After all, to some people, if it's in writing then "the person" who wrote it must be correct; or couldn't possibly have a bias point of view, along with no actual facts to back up what was said -- it's just no big deal. Sheesh!! Wrong!! And, yes, Tom, I'm thinking about you when mentioning this.
@ LK's SOAP BOX I think you made an honest mistake of user names on your previous post to jade. You said 420 when it should have been at KIDROCK40. No problem, but i have not posted on this discussion.
Lk says
And, lastly, Jade you'd like 420 to go elsewhere because of his religious views, his love of redneck hillbillism and for being self-righteous? On this particular post, that seems ironic doesn't it? Just sayin'.
Oh, I guess, Jade, where I said "ignorant vote" when talking to Tom FL is when you thought I was also talking about you? You're mistaken. Granted you both think Hank's a redneck, but you at least said the word "evidence" when talking about the other remarks you made. I think you're a person that, in the past, has looked into, or heard arguments for or against a topic, that eventually made you have a different opinion than you had initially. Are you getting your information from www.WeHateHankJr.com (solely?) I don't think so; and, I think you'll come to see that Hank Jr. is not, infact, a racists or woman-hater.
But, Mr. FL says that Hank HAS a Cocaine and Jack Daniels binging habit, and that he WAS "obviously" under the influence when making his comments. And, what else? Oh yeah, that Hank didn't write the Monday Night Football song; and, he's never made any money from his own serious accomplishments, only from his father's fame and fortune. GMAFB!! He's so off the mark it's laughable, really.
"We see our "enemy" as the Republican Party", Tommy Boy says. Thanks Tom, btw, for proving my point when I said, "isn't the unruly bipartisanism in today's American politics ridiculous these days." I think "enemy" tactic are in full-force in Capitol Hill -- how has that been working out for "all of us" so far people?!!!
So, yeah, to me Tom doesn't do his "homework" on things. This is way beyond obvious and, yeah, his ignorant vote scares the hell out of me, always has and always will.
And, is 420 right in thinking, "If "you're" (Jade & whomever) are "a true Kid Rock fan then you should be a true Hank fan"? No, imao, he's not right. I don't think that's a requirement to be a "true" fan. He was making a point (as I had earlier) about how the rebel son is so much like is father and vise versa.
So, deep breaths people, deep breaths . . .
Okay, with that being said I've got to run, I've got a parade and an Oktoberfest to go to; Boy Scouts, Bratwursts and Beer!! Really do love this time of year!! 75 degrees right now, with a low of 53?!! Yes!!
(Trying to lighten things up just a little here...please don't take this too seriously)
Anarchy!
Anarchy!
Anarchy!
***shouting loudly while stomping to the beat from "we will rock you" :-)***
I have read this entire post, some of it funny, some of it hurtful. Everyone is free in this country to have their own opinions. Politics and religion are always very touchy subjects...there never really is a "right" answer because each person believes whole-heartedly that they are the only one to have the "right" answer. As a result, there is little room for tolerance of opinions, and then things get ugly.
As was mentioned earlier, "Those who do not learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them." Boy, howdy, ain't that the truth?!! And, as Cheryl reminded us, "Political talk in public, or with family can really bring some ill feelings." In this case, to our "public family" ; (
If you ever want to start an argument, just start talking about religion or politics and it's bound to happen! I'm so sorry Jade that you interpreted what I wrote as saying you're ignorant. No way do I think that about you. I'm not even exactly sure what I said in particular that made you think that? I really was going off things you wrote: "I don't like country music; Take your religious condescension, your love of a redneck hillbilly and your nasty self-righteous judgment elsewhere; and There is a whole lot of evidence out there to point to him being a racist, anti-Semitic, woman-hating." On the last point, yeah, I'd like a reference or something to see what it is you're seeing or reading, that's all. Because the words: racist, anti-Semitic and a woman-hater are big words to associate with someone, n'est-ce pas?
Again, sorry that I made you mad and caused you grief, that definitely was not my intention. And, by all means PLEASE, I'm Begging You-- Don't GO!! Talk about "a handful of people that make this place interesting"?!! So please, my fellow art lover, can't we agree to disagree?
Jade, Oh Jade So much hate you preach! I had to go back and read my post and I knew I was correct in thinking I never addressed you directly! As now am certain of that!
I am talking to you directly now Jade & and if I pissed you off which I see I have done, Truly again I don't give a shit. I think I have more than earned that right by the duties which I freely gave. To say as I feel as I might wish to do! And if you find this a sore spot, I don't care either!
Am someone who has not watched football since the first walk out and or strike. They are paid to play a game. Key word "GAME" And I could care less who stand in that new role, Not affected by that Jade. And you'd fit in good as a Obama cronyism player, I say this as I see you want to tell me what to do in my home. The President (current or previous) have not pulled the 10 commandments from public spaces? Sound too as you have been misinformed or sleep through class the day they tough government due to the fact we have of three branches of federal government. Checks and balance???? I have heard this some where. So a president did sign this into law. And it was not absolutely right thing to do. It is yet another freedom lost!
Busted, am not for gay marriage, I think it was not Adam and Steve , And here too your saying that I must accept this as well. Not in my home, again I care less if that what you want to do, your the one who will answer for that choice, not me!
And as for blasting on you, please refer back to the top of the page hater! I love me some Kid Rock too! Did I question your loyalism as a Kid Rock fan? Sorry missed that one! Isn't America GREAT to be able to have the choice of free speech, and be able to debate different views. Well maybe, for how long who knows? So you know Jade, I did not call you out in anyway in my first post, but you called me out! And yes " I have lost ALL hope in our current commander in chief" That's my right too!
*rolls eyes*
I listen to good country music. Patsy Cline for example. have no use for bad country music.
and I have no problem with people being religious, I have a huge problem with people trying to shove their religion down my throat, or try to use their religion to create laws in this country. I did not tell whats-his-face to go away because he has reglion. I told him to go away because of his intolerance and his lack of knowledge about the American ideal of being free to worship (or not) as you please. BIG difference.
People keep asking me where I've been and why I'm not here much anymore. well, here it is: I'm sick of having my words misunderstood and misrepresented. I love joking around and being bawdy, but I also love having a complicated interesting debate and frankly as far as I can tell that's near impossible here. I have lots of friends (Angel!) that have radically different political and religious views from me, and I love talking with them about difficult subjects because we usually come away with a better understanding of each other. and I'm fine with that. but you calling me ignorant? fuck that shit.
I've had it. every time I come here I get pissed off. I do NOT need this shit. Those of you that I enjoy talking to me know how to find me on facebook & other places. I'll come here to post my lyrics stuff but screw this other shit.
@Tom from Fl ~ What's truly scary for me in what you said (about Hank), makes me think that you're probably a seriously misinformed voter as well. An ignorant vote is a dangerous vote. Some (most) are sheople being led around by the nose based on an affiliation to a party. Independent thought and observation is alien to them!!
Hank Jr. did write "All My Rowdy Friends" and reworked it for Monday Night Football. You say he didn't write it -- so tell us who did if it wasn't him? Can you back up what you say?! I think not.
He's won a Grammy, numerous Emmys & Entertainer of the Year five times!! He wouldn't have accumulated massive sales and numerous awards along the way if he didn't have ORIGINAL talent.
Yes, Hank Jr. had a drug & alcohol problem, but he's been sober (and married to his current wife) for over two decades.
But, you know who does do cocaine and drinks Jack Daniels? Kid Rock!!
So maybe you should take you're own advice and get your facts straight before you "start labeling others" based off information you get on www.WeHateHankJr.com!
@ Jade ~ "Cant stand his watered-down, unoriginal country music". As you said, you don't like country music, so what are comparing his "watered-down" music to if you don't listen to that kind of music? To me, that would be the last word I would use to describe his music; that and unoriginal -- no way.
"There is a whole lot of evidence out there to point to him being a racist, anti-Semitic, woman-hating ass." Uh oh, you must be getting your same information where Tom gets his. If people make these kinds of accusations, where is the proof?
Please people take a gander of the photo on this post, and I think you'll see with your very own eyes that HANK JR IS NOT A RACIST!!
http://www.kidrock.com/news/in-alabama/
And, lastly, Jade you'd like 420 to go elsewhere because of his religious views, his love of redneck hillbillism and for being self-righteous? On this particular post, that seems ironic doesn't it? Just sayin'.
Kid Rock is tho only person who came to mind when I heard they pulled Hank Williams Jr. Although I cannot condone what he said on Fox, I am sad that we will no longer hear our much anticipated, "Are you ready for some football?" lead-in to Monday night football games. After 20 years it will be hard to fill that role, but I think Kid Rock can easily do it!!!
