My name is Amy and on May 19, 2013 my grandson died.
He was sleeping and vomited and choked.
I want you to know that at 3 months old he loves your music!
When he got fussy all I had to do was put your music on my iPod
And he would start to calm down.
We would dance around the house! His favorite I think
Was the Chickens in the Pen, he would smile and kick
His little legs!
I want to thank you for being you! For making music that
You do! You made my grandson smile, and I love you
For that!
This song is WAY friggen deep-----i absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song :-)
Especially--the Blues Guitar :-)
I feel just as deep about "Purple Sky" and "When It Rains"
Yes, I agree. I was so glad he sang it at the Comerica concert. I teared up as my husband wrapped his arms around me.
I will be on the treadmill listening to Kid and tears pouring down...my husband will walk in and be like"what's wrong?" And, what can I say the man can make me dance the night away and ball my eyes out. I think his music touches my soul.
Yep, Prodigal Son and my My Oedipus Complex are at the top of the list for me also (and Slow My Roll too Val) and another touching one, Single Father. But, it goes really without saying, Only God Knows Why is one of the best songs of all time.
He has a way with sad songs. I'm stuck on "History of Rock" "Prodigal Son", "Abortion", "My Oedipus Complex". He connects with people by striking a nerve.
Like Kid said, there's only so many topics to sing about, and only so many ways to say them. Normally he would have said, Bitch - FO!! but matured to Baby, Rock On. Elton John & Bernie Taupin said it best in regard to Sad Songs:
Guess there are times when we all need to share a little pain
And ironing out the rough spots
Is the hardest part when memories remain
And it's -- times like these -- when we all need to hear the radio
Cause from the lips of some old (Fn 40 ; ) singer
We can share the troubles we already know
. . . When all hope is gone -- Sad songs say so much
If someone else is suffering enough to write it down
When every single word makes sense
Then it's easier to have those songs around
The kick inside is in the line that finally gets to you
and it feels so good to hurt so bad
And suffer just enough to sing the blues . . .
His lyrics are touching. Especially his older music (for me). I like "Born Free". It's the one I put on at the end of the night. It's more mellow. I listen more to his older stuff. Feels like he wrote those lyrics from his gut, sitting in a room with a pad of paper pouring out lyrics. Anyway, I do like "Rock On" I just don't think the man gets enough recognition for his lyrical genius, his sense of humor, and honesty in his writing.
It is a good song. The first time i heard the lyrics i did cry...and that is the truth...But then again it is saying goodbye to someone you have a relationship with. I am one of those weird ppl that feels things a lot. Sometimes i feel like i got an extra set of nerves or something that are very sensitive...
I like Kid Rock write and it comes a place of feeling when i do write. I will get a word or phrase that starts spinning in my head and take off with it. And roll it up with other things so if flows right..I try to say what i have to say where everyone can relate and feel what i felt when i wrote it. So then it becomes something everyone can @ least relate to if they have not experienced it themselves. Kid does it too...Honest lyrics or words touch ppls soul and that is where it is @...Quoting a very good friend of mine who passed a year or so ago " music is meant to touch your soul, not impress your friends".
I couldnt agree more... My favorite by a mile
LK...it's just so melancholy...I think it is about healing, but it's so sad too...
Slow My Roll is my fave from Born Free.
The Midwest Fall,. Yelp,. Thats the song.
Im right there with you on that one. Its an AWESOME song and my personal favorite from the 1st time I heard it.
