    SON OF DETROIT

    Notes:

    • "Son of Detroit" is an adaption of "Son of the South" by David Allan Coe, written in part by Harold Tipton, Ronnie Brooks, and Tom DeLuca. Adapted lyric by Kid Rock.
    • Scott "La Rock" Sterling ("DJ Scott La Rock") March 2, 1962 – August 27, 1987 was the original DJ of the hip hop group Boogie Down Productions.

    BAWITDABA

    Notes & References:

    • all sections in (parentheses and italics) are sung by Paradime.
    • there is a musical riff from Cocky's "I'm Wrong But You Ain't Right" in the middle of this song.
It is right after this section (at about 2:30) "And for DB Cooper and money he took / You can look for answers but that ain't fun / Now get in the pit and try to love someone"
It's the same riff in "I'm Wrong But You Ain't Right" that occurs right around the 3:00 mark, after the chorus.
    • Rapper's Delight by Sugarhill Gang:
      ("I said a hip hop,
      Hippie to the hippie,
The hip, hip a hop, and you don't stop, a rock it
To the bang bang boogie, say, up jump the boogie,")
    • Blue Moon by The Marcels:
("Bom ba ba bom ba bom ba bom bom
bom ba ba bom ba bom ba bom bom
Blue moon, moon, moon, moon, moon
Di, Di, Di, Di, Di, moon, moon, moon, blue moon
      Di, Di, Di, Di,Di")
    • Busy Bee Vs Kool Moe D (circa 1981) check out the :55 mark where they start chanting:
"Bawitdaba da bang a dang diggy diggy diggy"
I've been told that "Bawitdaba" is an old school rap chant, and this is the only example of that I have found.
    • This video shows Kid Rock, in an interview in the late 90s, mentioning "Bawitdaba" as an old school chant.

thanks folks! I'm getting a lot of help from people too... that Kool Moe D vid was from LK on this site.

and yes, Just Because, they should link to it here since the lyrics on this site are completely wrong!!! I've tried to get them to do that, but I think at this point they just think I'm a crazy chick. lol

love it Jade :).. I always thought the last line ya have of 'delight' was truly the inspiration of the famous Bawitdaba... but I thought I heard too something about bawitdaba being part of a hip hop chant... as with Busy B n Kool Moe D. Def a mix up of flavor of inspiration behind it.

Love that Krause wrote some of the famous riffs in this song... and looking forward to hearing some more of Krause writing on songs perhaps maybe in the near future... one can only hope, eh ;)
