There was a retired fireman on GMA that was hit by scaffolding and still managed to give CPR to a gentleman next to him. The lil girl was right behind him. The stories are just so heartbreaking.

I have been to many KR shows set up exactly like this in Rodeo arenas. Stage between the grandstands. I have to wonder if the grandstands dont act as funnels for strong winds. Like wind between tall buildings increases in velocity because it is compressed.. So what is already strong wind is made even stronger as it hits the side of the stage.

Something to think about when deciding stage placement in an outdoor venue....

I didn't hear about the little girl. Prayers from me, too.

I agree misbevin It was amazing to see all the fans in there lifting the scaffolding. Prayers go out to the little girl that lost her arm. So Devastating...

i agree---it could've been any one of us--
the positive note about this tragedy--was how people rushed up there to help.
i absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Indiana--i wasn't surprised when i heard that so many people rushed to help anyway that they could.
To me ----that's the American Spirit :-)

ive built those type stages for music videos. very lightweight with planks set on top. easy to see how those high gusts of wind can cause them to collapse. luckily everything went A-OK at comerica park last night. the storm was pretty bad where i live for about 20 mins

Many thoughts and prayers.

That video is just heart-breaking to watch.

I'd seen some youtube video of the collapse, it's horrible. Really makes me wonder about outdoor events with temporary stages, there was another one I think last month at a Cheap Trick concert, I think it was Canada...scary...
