I am a musician. I did not attend college and barley made it out of high school. I try my hardest to keep my ticket prices low, THIS I HAVE CONTROL OF.!! I can not control nor do i understand how the fuck the scalpers and all the secondary websites and bullshit get them. IF I COULD CONFRONT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM FACE TO FACE I WOULD AND IT WOULD NOT WORK OUT TO WELL FOR THEM I GAURANTEE ALL OF YOU. I hate them, i feel like someone is beating up a close friend or family member while im chained to a chair. I try to understand it, i try to ask my managers and people in the buisness i know to help me understand it, but it seems they dont either. The only way i know right now to stop it is to not buy from these people or wait till the last minute when there scared they cant sell em and have to sell them cheap. I am not gonna apologize for something i cant control and it you wanna hate or blame me for it, go for it. But if your really pissed about it, research it and try to find out why its going on and let me know. alot of us are trying to figure out a better way, trust me, the last thing i want is some bottom of the barrel lazy fuck who wont get a real job ripping off my fans to get rich. And no, this post was not consulted w my mangers or publicist, they would probly say not to post it, but thats not how i do things. This is right from my computer to yours. I hope it helps to understand at least how i feel about people trying to get tickets in my fan club or any other way that turns out to be a let down, THAT IS NOT MY INTENTION OR WHY I GOT INTO MUSIC AT ALL. Maybe i should shut down the fan club, because i dont want anyone to think im screwing them and i cant keep the "bottom feeders" from joining it, YET! I try to think of better ways to do things all the time, especially for the fans, but my main focus is always my son and then writing good songs, without those two things, nothing is happening. I will keep my mind spinning trying to figure out a better way to get good tickets to my true fans, and it brings to mind a new song on the new cd "the least that i can do is care" unfortunatley thats not gonna be enuff in this case. trust me im on top of this and doing what i can. thx

Hey man. I've loved your work since Grits Sandwiches! Due to these ass clowns, I haven't been to many shows. Actually I've only benn lucky enough to make one and that was the Milenium New Years Bash at the ol Silverdome. THAT WAS INSANE! Anyways, I had a few thoughts. Is there any way you could have first come, first served on the night of the concert? Start with tickets on the main floor and have them sold sequentially all the way up to the top of the stadium. Limit sales to 1 ticket per person. It would be, I guess you could say "club style" but in a stadium. Anyways, I hope and your people can find a permanant solution. Best wishes.... det_sports_nut (Twitter)

Maybe talk to Grateful Dead peeps (Grateful Dead Merchandising/GDM). They've done mail order ticket sales for years. It is a very tedious process, but most deadheads know exactly how to do it and are happy to be able to get the tix at a reasonable price. Deadheads sell their tickets for face value when they can't go and even give away their tix ('miracles') to other deadheads who can't afford them or were unable to get tix. I'm not sure of the process on the sellers end of GDM, but I can tell you that it has worked for almost 30 years and Dead fans are pretty happy people. You'd never see a scalper selling tix (or deadheads paying thousands of dollars for tix). It would be a mere disgrace and looked down upon by the fans at the show (or in the parking lot scene). Bob, I appreciate your note and am praying for you and your team.

very GOOD post, I think a way to eliminate the scalpers is to sell tix day of the show, you know they will sell out! Pre-sell wristbands for those who are interested in advance but some part of a pre-payment to get the wristbands. I remember back in the day waiting in line at Joe Louis Arena for 3 days to get Journey tickets and I was 3rd in line but I got the 1st row I wanted. Eliminate all outside vendors and concentrate on one venue to sell the tix, i.e. Ford Field for the bday show and go from there. No online purchases this too will eliminate the excess scalpers making these purchases. Thus the tix will be for the fans not the scalpers and the venue could take some of the money for the deposit of the wristbands, numbered of course and with a limit of 2 tix per wristband and one body per wristband which would give everyone a chance to get great tix. Thanks...I think this will help.

Bob, I agree with your statement, they are “bottom feeders,” and they can be found in all areas of life now. Big business and government corruption is accepted as the norm, greed is achieved from the generosity and, needs and wants of others. You keep your ticket prices low for your fans, (generous.) I guess the “bottom feeders,” are more attracted to the dollar then the simple things like, respect, care, and concern for mankind or ethics and self reflection. It does not take a wise person to steal from others, no matter how they camouflage their methods, legal or not, they’re “bottom feeders,” and we need to do as you did Bob, call them out and assure them we are not going to tolerate their greedy F-ing asses.

I was reading the comments posted and there was one that stuck out in my mind & may actually work for what you want to do, which is to eliminate the scalpers. Certainly it is hard if not impossible to "stop" them. But if you were to hold a ticket lottery/sale and forced fans to actually show up to purchase them and put a limit on the quantity of tickets that are available to sell, more would be available to the fan base. Yes I know it is more profitable to sell them on line & less of an expense to do so as well & I also know that fans from out of the area want to come see your shows. But you have a ton of fans here in SE Michigan that would give their left arm to see the concert and are now unable because of the price the scalpers will charge & many of us can't afford the markup so close to Christmas. I would have gladly spent the day in line to purchase tickets. I've been trying for almost 10 years to see you in concert & most of the time your concerts are sold out &/or the prices off Craigslist & such are just too high for our family. I won't be there to celebrate with you at Ford Field but hoping like hell to be able to pick up some tickets on Saturday to see you in Saginaw. I love your music, your voice, your lyrics, your dedication to your son, and your never ending kudos for Detroit. Thank you for chasing your dreams and bringing them to life for all of us! Never stop singing!

A point that you have to remember is that these tickets (and many of the other tour dates) are/were already for sale BEFORE the presale even started. That has nothing to do with your Official Fan Club. Politics are apart of everything in this World: education, business, and concert tickets. The guilty party is TicketMaster. Without TicketMaster, it is impossible for the scalpers to have these tickets prior to the sale date, correct? For example, I can't sell seat A103 unless I have that exact ticket in hand. Remember, when tickets go on sale, we don't choose what seat we pick, we can only choose the section (100, 200, 300, etc.) or the "Best Available." The concert industry is a two-headed snake. You either pull your tickets from TicketMaster and have dump sales for your concerts, or you use it and have real fans (I've spent over $15,000.00 collecting your memorabilia and have never been closer than the lower 200 section) either A.) Go to a scalper or eBay to get great tickets and pay 5X the face value, or B.) sit in mediocre seats while some rich yuppy walks to the front with his girlfriend for the weekend. I hope this response brings some insite to the situation; however, it's only my opinion. If anybody would like to respond to what I said, email me at michael2006@bellsouth.net and I'd like to hear what you have to say. PS-fans, check out my collection at www.myspace.com/mykidrockcollection and click "Photos" when you get there.

All of his fan's should write letter's to show's such as 20/20 asking for a expose on where this ticket money goes. I think as fan's we have a right to know how these scalper's get there hand's on all these ticket's so fast. Who sell's them first? Is it the venue? Are they withholding the first 10 row's for the scalper's? Is it ticketmaster? Do they have some sort of illegal "in" with someone to get the ticket's. When money and job's are this hard to come by I think something should be done about this. Kid can only set the price's on the original ticket. He get's paid the same for his concert rather I pay 40 buck's or four hundred for a ticket. Sometime's people just live for these concert's. It is their biggest joy in life and the scalper's cut off their ability to go. I was at a Marty Robbin's concert once and back then country singer's spent at least a hour with their fan's after a concert answering question's and signing autograph's. At this concert the promoter's whisked him off the stage immediately after the concert and wouldn't let him meet the people who paid for the ticket's. I was backstage when he came off. He was screaming mad. He said "YOU aren't the one they are mad at I AM." These artist don't have the control a lot of fan's think they do. Let's try to keep this website a real FAN club. Come here to say how much we like the song's, the show's, the backstage stuff. There was a Kid Rock fan club once before and the fan's got so hateful and mean and fought so much they just shut it down.

You got my heart...little light of mine.... Be assurred, I am Thanking God that you Care. It would be easy to take the money...from whatever source, as long as the tickets were sold. You are a Damm good man...I knew this all along :) Now, first things first, Thank God for this opportunity! He laid this on YOU because HE KNEW You would not only rise to the challenge; but, put things right for people who shouldn't be taken advantage of. Yep, call me 'crazy'!...but He nailed this one!!! The message is coming across 'Loud and Clear'...Fuck with Bob's family, friends or 'fans' and The KID"S gonna Step-Up!!!! The Big Guy upstairs wants things to change for the little guy... so ... He set this out there for YOU to make right...because He Already Knew...You and ONLY YOU would CARE enough to make sure this won't continue! Gotta Love God and Thank Him in Jesus name, ...Then put on your armor Baby, Lets fight!!! P.S. ~~~ Thanks for Listening :) your friend Danette

Thanks for the explanation and personal note. Yes it was frustrating that 6 minutes after tickets went on sale I couldnt get one, and I was trying for on stage or VIP!!! We paid a little more than we expected for Section 128 seats but I am sure they are going to be great and we still get to see you. Coming up from south Florida for the opening concert of the tour/birthday party!!! Keep it real....see ya soon.

My boyfriend and i were upset about trying to get ticket at Ford Field. We got there and they told us they were not selling tickets and told us and about 150 others to go to the jazz cafe across the street saying they were selling them. We found out at 1 minute to 10 that Ford Field was selling them but at just one window. we all ran back across the street. after 5 minutes of the same person in the front of the line still buying his one ticket they opened a second one. but that didn't help. only 3 people in line got tickets because they took so long. Although we were upset we know this was not your fault but the boxoffice for being unprepared for this. Also we will continue to try to get tickets to this show for what we would have paid for them. We do hope to get tickets to your show in Saginaw. Loyal fans who have not missed a show since 99.

Hear, feel and agree. It is all about greed and that is older than time. I tried and didn't get pre and general sales tickets. Not your fault. Making the best of it, room in the D and gonna party like a rock star anyway. Here is a birthday tidbit that you did not know...did lots of lobbying in Lansing to change/improve Michigan laws (mandatory minimums) and track #6 on your "Cocky" cd was my battle cry that I blared on the way into and from Lansing. Your music was instrumental in positive changes in Michigan's laws and you never even knew. Sooo, don't let this other crap spoil your day. Have a freakin' Happy 40th Birthday, Homeboy!!

I am sorry for you that this has to be so stressful. Honestly, it's all business ... sucks, but everything is. It's the shitty way everything seems to work in this world any more... ruined by greed. But I really don't think that you should have to be sweating it this much or apologizing for things beyond your control. All you should be worrying about it getting up there and doing your thing, which I for one am grateful to be able to see again:) and having a great birthday. I think it's awesome that you wanted to share your 40th with fans!! I was able to get my ticket, thankfully, and will be there. Very excited!!! ~S~

Way to go Kid; tell it like it is! How awesome that you actually write to us directly on here. I too do not understand how scalpers, etc. get a hold of all the good tickets and leave us fans out in the cold so to speak! I, for one, cannot wait to see you here in South Florida in March (March 8th to be exact) at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL... Keep it Real and Keep it ROCKin!!!! XOXOXO

I LOVE YOU.. Don't worry about what people say. They should have been waiting at their computer and on top of things. You are an amazing person and musician. You have done so much for people and for all of your fans keeping your prices lower and setting multiple dates. I can't wait to see you at Ford Field and Saginaw and I'm buying tickets for a show in Florida. I have traveled around to see many of your shows and you are always amazing. Please don't let people bring you down Erin
Rosalina's picture

I would like to suggest that you do a "free" concert to keep out the "bottom feeders" and just ask that the fans donate to one of the many Michigan Charities! I know that many of my friends would much rather give to a charity than some pond scum dirt bag rip off artist! Or ask that they "bring" a gift to the concert for one of our many military personnel who are out there fighting the demons of this world to keep us safe enough to be able to attend the many concerts out there. Whatever you do, just keep rockin' it the way you do so well....we all have our day of judgement and even for those who lie, cheat and steal, it will come! God Bless our troops!

Nice post, Kid. Appreciate the direct communication from time to time. Keep doing what you're doing. Your recent music is your best ever. There has to be some design solution to the ticket problem: eliminate brokers? direct online sales with group size limits? special codes for club members? creative enforcement? (some brokering is illegal, no?). We gotta find some lawyer/network-geek/righteous-rocker guys & gals for the right idea. I just can't believe there is no solution. Anyway, best of luck on this issue. Now I'm gonna go download Born Free. It's a rainy day here in Maryland and I'm gonna spend my afternoon givin' a good listenin' to some Kid Rock sunshine!

Your post is going national, I've seen it on detnew, a tv station in w. Michigan, NPR, and a few more, This is probably the way to go, maybe we can't do much except get out the news about how unfair this is. I was lucky enough to get tkts, but it was nervewracking, took a million tries to get them to recognize my password then for them to recognize the secret word, probably because of the scumbag scalpers. Looking forward to January, and please don't shut this site down.

I'd like to know how the scalper websites have tickets for sale even before pre-sales. I've noticed this for the last couple of years with many artists. I will be going to Nashville to see Kid Rock, so just out of curiosity, I just Googled "Kid Rock Bridgestone Arena" and a bunch of scalp websites with tickets already for sale popped up. They go on sale to the public this Friday, and I'd assume if there will be a fan club pre-sale for this concert, it should be a day or two prior to Friday. So, how do the scalpers already have tickets for sale to this show and others? It really isn't fair to the artist or their fans for scalpers to make a living this way, but KR is right. The one way to stop them is for people to quit buying tickets from them. Can't wait for Nashville! :)

i tried to buy tickets for your birthday bash, but them damn scalpers want to much for them... i haven't missed a concert yet but it looks like i will this time!!! you sure do put on a great show your awesome...thanks for everything you do for our city!!! take care your fan Jaime C.
Craig_44's picture

I don't think shutting down the fan club is the aanswer.I personally have only had trouble getting tix once and that was understandable(august shows in MI).It is what it is.Nothing is stopping people from joining the fan club under multiple usernames, then having a few people log on and scoffing all the tickets they can.If you have 8 people buying tickets for you and are allowed 4 all you have to do is the math. They are exactly what you said...bottom of the barrel lazy F*cks who won't get a real job.At least you are man enough to get on here and Tell all us REAL FANS what your take is on the whole scalper situation.I have met some great people through the fan club and got the chance to hang out with quite a few of them at Pine Knob in August on our trip, but if not for the fan club they would have been just faces in the crowd. Thanks for letting us know that YOU know...Keep Rockin!
Karri_2's picture

I too missed out on tickets for your Birthday show, and it's not like I didn't try! It totally pisses me off that it sells out in 19 minutes and then these scalpers put up tickets for sale for outrageous prices days later!! I have a great idea! I'll meet ya at the Woodshop, buy ya a beer, you bring tickets, I'll bring money and you'll know that a true fan has seats to your show and I'll know that you have the $$ (the one who deserves it!)

hey Kid, no dont shut down the fan club !!! that would hurt your fans the most (like me). its nice to to have a place to go, and actually get to talk with the musician. yes ppl get upset when they get ripped off, who dont ??? I know I do, but theres not much anyone can do about the scalpers. all we can do is buy tickets from a reputable ticket agent or from your website. scalpers are just like pc hackers, they will find ways to screw ya over no matter what. BUT please dont shut ya website down. and is there any chance of you coming to Dallas Tx, or to the choctaw casino in Durant oklahoma ? would love to see ya in concert again ! would also love to meet ya , maybe a meet and greet, or backstage passes, ect. love your music, and stay real . you're one of us! and thats what most of love about you the most. love your Biggest fan in Oklahoma DarkAngel

today lets take a minute away from the ticket issues - which are important - but need to be put in perspective to the fact that 6 American service men were killed in Afganistan yesterday by border police - a taliban loyal who apparently joined the border police in order to be able to kill american solders. Take a minute and pray for the families and friends of these men and also for the remaining troops still over seas. Also prayers for 3 young boys from Michgan missing for several days.............a school hostage situation in Wisconsin involving 2 doz. kids and a 100 year old walmart greeter pushed to the floor by a customer.........love that lady though........she is bruised but back to work ! We need to work at solving the ticket issues that have been going on for years........my first big screwing on a ticket was severa years ago when backstreet boys were big and my daughter wanted so badly to go........ended up buying from a scalper for almost $300.........so i have been there ...........i took my granddaughter to see Hannah Montana.......need i say more..........adn sold the spare tires for my car to see Michael Jackson during the Victory tour...........but i am thanking God today that i was able to do those things, even on a mediocre income- and that i am not one of the above mentioned families. Kid Rock fans are the greatest and we can show that by fightig the battle with tickets etc., while praying for the people with bigger issues. God bless all ! ........"have you risen above all that leads to hate "........Kid Rock :)

This is exactly what we like about KR, you are real. I am wondering why this person doesnt secure a ticket early? Get em! I am wondering if you are ever coming to Mackinaw City? :)
Jake_15's picture

Kid Firstly I just want to say that as u can tell u have a helluva ton of loyal fans and the reason for that is that they love ur music and respect the man that u are. We understand that u have no control over scalpers and scumbags that mess over the normal blue collar folks just trying to see a a good show. Its admirable that ur condolences but we know u have no control over it. My best friend and were planning on taking his dad to ur 40th bday bash becasue not only is he a major fan but his 40th birthday is also the 15th and we literally live a shot down the road from Romeo! we kinda got screwed with tickets like a lot of other good people did but reguardless have a helluva good Birthday brother and keep rocking cuz we sure as hell will be listening! God Bless and take care! -Jake Koveck and Cody Heilig

Kid Rock screw his fans? He is the only artist that takes the time to actually thank you for spending your hard earned money on his tickets. Every show I have been to he has done this. Tell me another artist that does that? I find it amazing that so many panties are in wad. To the point that KR had to actually post a blog on his web site to his fans feeling like he needed to defend. Whoaaa. Y'all need a little reality check. He cannot control what others do. We all get disappointed in life but it is how you react that seperates you from the rest. If you really want to see KR -there are other concerts and a TRUE KR fan always finds a way. One way or another. I can't tell you how many times I went to a sold out show and got tickets. I simply say get off his tip. :)
cr39girl's picture

Scalpers are always going to find a way in. I tried buying tickets too...one dream was to see you in Detroit. We were going to fly from Oregon to see you. I do appreciate how you try. Doing venues like fair's still ,which are some would say , are beneath you help the average Joe fan get to you easier. Sadly, us average Joe's can not afford the scalpers price but will always find a way to see you. I also wanted to say that the special on MTV was awesome. Loved it! Thanks for caring and trying. That makes being a fan that more cool:)
Robin Ann Thompson's picture

I think the tickets should be sold like they were in the older days not online at all you have to go stand in line like it use to be if you have to spend the night to get first grabs i'm sure Kid you know of this right i do remember these days and at least we would have a better chance this way we love You Kid Rock your fans will stay with you we know it is not your fault God Bless You
LauraJean1484's picture

Kid, youre amazing! And do not let some dumb ass ignorant "fake fans" succeed at making you feel like shit! Fuck those mother fuckers! People need someone to blame because they did not get Kid Rock tickets! Well there is a reason for presale tickets! And if these claim to be fans were your real fans than they would have gotten presale tickets! And if these so called fans were your real fans then they would not be blaming anyone but themselves for not getting tickets because like I said.. presale! I know much you value and love your fans and thats why us as fans love you, because you love and appreciate us. Scalpers totally suck and it is a bunch of bull shit! But it's not your fault that a scalper got tickets before a "fan" did.. it's the "fans" fault. True fans will do what they can to see you and true fans are not going to bitch about how much they pay for tickets or how they get them. I havent worked since August 14th.. and was at your show that night and was at your show on August 15th with a broken ass ankel, high from pain pills straight out troy beaumont hopsital.. but you know what! I LOVED EVERY FUCKING MINUTE OF THAT CONCERT, pain or no pain, crutches or no crutches! And some how.. I found a way to purchase tickets for your birthday show! So I do not want to hear these dumb fucks whine because essentially they fucked up! Don't let these ignorant fuckers get the best of you! Can NOT WAIT to celebrate your birthday with you!!!!
