I am a musician. I did not attend college and barley made it out of high school. I try my hardest to keep my ticket prices low, THIS I HAVE CONTROL OF.!! I can not control nor do i understand how the fuck the scalpers and all the secondary websites and bullshit get them. IF I COULD CONFRONT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM FACE TO FACE I WOULD AND IT WOULD NOT WORK OUT TO WELL FOR THEM I GAURANTEE ALL OF YOU. I hate them, i feel like someone is beating up a close friend or family member while im chained to a chair. I try to understand it, i try to ask my managers and people in the buisness i know to help me understand it, but it seems they dont either. The only way i know right now to stop it is to not buy from these people or wait till the last minute when there scared they cant sell em and have to sell them cheap. I am not gonna apologize for something i cant control and it you wanna hate or blame me for it, go for it. But if your really pissed about it, research it and try to find out why its going on and let me know. alot of us are trying to figure out a better way, trust me, the last thing i want is some bottom of the barrel lazy fuck who wont get a real job ripping off my fans to get rich. And no, this post was not consulted w my mangers or publicist, they would probly say not to post it, but thats not how i do things. This is right from my computer to yours. I hope it helps to understand at least how i feel about people trying to get tickets in my fan club or any other way that turns out to be a let down, THAT IS NOT MY INTENTION OR WHY I GOT INTO MUSIC AT ALL. Maybe i should shut down the fan club, because i dont want anyone to think im screwing them and i cant keep the "bottom feeders" from joining it, YET! I try to think of better ways to do things all the time, especially for the fans, but my main focus is always my son and then writing good songs, without those two things, nothing is happening. I will keep my mind spinning trying to figure out a better way to get good tickets to my true fans, and it brings to mind a new song on the new cd "the least that i can do is care" unfortunatley thats not gonna be enuff in this case. trust me im on top of this and doing what i can. thx

Thank you for saying it straight to us and from the heart. Your honesty and attitude are always what I like best about your music and you.

I just noticed the post of your letter on FB and had to check this out. I can't read all of the comments due to time restraints but will say this. First and foremost, it's great that you took the time and actually pay attention to what the public says. Honestly, it was a bitch trying to get tickets on the fan page; didn't work for me either but then I waited until the next days pre-sale on Live Nation. While times are tough and you have always kept your ticket prices low, I repeat ALWAYS! The truth is, if you want to see someone bad enough, you'll pay whatever necessary. I was lucky enough to get tickets for your birthday, I am just happy to be going, I didn't buy the cheapest seats, I paid the maximum ticket price available outside of a VIP package ( culdn't afford that) and I'm still just General Admission and you know what? I don't care. I will be there to see you, honor your birthday and share the experience of saying, I went to that show. I have seen you more times than I can count, I am a true fan. I had your CD when people didn't know who you were, hard to believe now huh? Keep up the good work, don't let people hate on you for being popular :) Its a business and thats the way it is. I have missed my share of your shows too because I couldn't get a ticket that day. This is the way it goes people. By the way, another artist that started the whole you can only buy tickets from the fan club thing is Prince. He did this over a decade ago. I paid a hell of a lot more to join his club, twice the amount for a ticket and since I love him, it was all worth it. Every other time, I tried to see him, he sold out in minutes. His secret was he wouldn't tell anyone but his fans when he was showing up, never advertised it to the public and if you weren't paying attention you missed out. I don't think that is what the public wants? You always do what you can, its obvious. Thank you for that.

I just joined the fan club in hopes of getting better tickets for the Peoria show, Feb 28th. Tickets go on sale this Saturday and I thought spending the money and joining the "true" fan club I may have a better chance. Should I be concerned come this Saturday? I am a single woman, working hard in this world for every dollar, please tell me I have nothing to be worried about!!! See ya in Peoria!! P.S. Collide is going to break records, it is magical!!

Thanks for taking the time out to acknowledge this problem. I don't blame you, I blame the scumbag lazy fucks who don't go out & get a real job! I'm not sure how to fix this problem either, possibly making tickets non-transferable?? I don't know, but hopefully I can get tickets to the Toledo show this Friday without the scalpers gettin to them first! Nice to know ya care- Margo

You go Bob! I am a long time fan. I admire you as a man and musician. Love the cd. If you ever make it to Louisiana maybe I'll be lucky enough to see you live in concert and actually get to meet you in person. That would be a dream for me. Who gives a shit what anyone else thinks. I've had to learn that the hard way.

I was not able to get tickets either..but I do not blame u..I do blame corporate greed and the asshole scalpers. Maybe go back to old school ticket buying where we gotta stand in line at Ford Field and buy them, camp out like the old days...and only so many sold per person...idk how it all works just a HUGE fan from the D and so happy that u made it and u try to keep it real... u ALWAYS come home and make it special for us Michiganders...since I will not be at your bday bash cuz of scalping assholes HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROCK! dont let ruin what u plan for your hometown....and thanks for caring....

There are always going to be shit bags out there looking to make a quick buck! You are the most loyal person to your fans and for that we all will stand by you no matter what! Loving your new CD too, love the mellow Kid Rock!! You are the BEST!! Nikki

This was not you fault...there were 3 chances to buy tickets for your concert at "Forty Field". I was not able to get my tickets through your fan club so I got the presale code and got them throught ticket master. People just need someone to blame and unfortunalty you were it. I will be there the celebrate your 40th birthday....granted I paid $300.00 for VIP.....just won't pay my heating bill this month...LOL...Just Joking.

Announce the show dates in advance. Have the tickets go on sale the day before. There's to much time for the scalpers to sell the tickets if they can put them on those other sites for a month. That would increase their risk. Might suck for us, but maybe the scalper(s) might not want to risk trying to scalp them in a 8 hour window and there would be more available for fans.

Amen Kid Rock!!! I respect your honesty and how you're not afraid to say it like it is. As far as how much the tickets cost for your show, worth every penny! I've been to three of your shows and am looking forward to going to see you again at the Dow up in Saginaw. You are an honest, generous person that gives back to the community in many ways. My step son is in the Air Force and I can say that we especially appreciate what you do for everyone that is serving our country for everyone else's freedom. Thank you for everything you do, (I am glad to pay for a show or buy your music to support it). Oh and FUCK anybody that doesn't! Amy

My other post was about tickets..now I just want to say it is so refreshing to see you put it all out there! My husband and I have been fans since Grits, Sandwiches for Breakfast, that was our dirty little CD that we knew our parents didn't want us to listen to, but it made us cool:) & lucky for us we love all types of music and have followed along as you have grown. I remember seeing you on MTV for the 1st time. I was so proud & It was like seeing an old friend up there as I had seen you at Modern Cafe, a teen club, and other small venues way back in the day...& all of your true fans probably felt the same way. You lay it out like it is & do what YOU want & you make us proud to be from Michigan. By the way my parents took the buy-out from GM they worked there their entire lives & with your new CD and performance on the AMA's they have fallen in love with you too. My mom actually cried during your AMA performance & said it was the best performance of the night. My youngest daughter used to rock out in my belly to All Summer Long...I brought her along in my belly to your concert that year & she had a GREAT time in there...so you officially have 3 generations who love you in our family now...Keep doing what you are doing & shining a spotlight on Michigan to get us the help and respect that Michigan needs to prosper.

Good Lord, I am reading through these comments from people who say they're fans, and some of these comments are so frigging rude.....why even waste your time writing some crap response when someone has just personally poured their heart out....it makes me sick. I've been a fan since the night Bob was on the MTV awards with Aerosmith and Run DMC and am anxiously awaiting show # 7 and 8 in South Carolina this February.....will I be on line at 9:45am waiting and waiting for the presales to start? Heck yes I will be, will I end up mad that I got crappy seats? Probably......but at the end of the day, when I'm at the show and it's the best ever and I leave there so happy it's worth it. It's no secret the fan club sucks, you pay basically to get the presale luxury, the information is never updated, the presales are almost always totally jacked up, but you do what you have to do to try and get good seats. Now that it's being all majorly clustered up with scalpers and stupid people trying to make a buck off someone elses fans, it's really going to suck with this tour coming up, but is it Bob's fault? Hardly.... Yes, he should know what's going on but for these stupid ass people to call him a douchebag and say he sucks, just go screw yourselves and don't waste his or our time with your stupid ignorant responses......with that being said, I really hope things are straightened out with future presales and I hope the people who didn't get a chance to get tickets for the Detroit show somehow get a chance to go, it really is the best show ever...

Your personal posting shows what a heartfelt, deep down good guy you are Bob. Thanks for paying attention to your fans. I totally do not want The KRC shut down. There is a pre-sale limit of 4 tickets there, but not on ticketmaster??? You have very loyal fans. The idea of not using the outside sites to purchase tickets is a fabulous idea.............the prices WILL drop. They will have no choice. Looking forward to seeing you in Detroit (as we are a lucky husband and wife who were able to score a presale set of tickets.) Loving the new CD!!!!!! Rock On

Kudos to you for being honest with us! Knowing this is actually right from your PC to ours, is enough for me ;) You can only do so much yourself. I look at it as you have given MUCH more to all of us threw your music, then we have ever given to you...(not that we wouldn't do anything for you that we could! I know I would! ;) ) The least WE could do is understand ;) We can't blame you for something you have no control over. Your true fans will understand that =) A second kudos to you , and the most important one, that you mentioned your son first. =) I think people forget sometimes, that you are also just a regular guy and a single parent, trying to raise your child right, the best you can. That your not some "God" who can look down from the sky and see just who is doing all this shit with your tickets and punish them ;) I also respect the fact, that you remain a "local boy" ;) I'm a born and raised West Michigan girl myself, and I wouldn't live anywhere else! So all your songs about living here really hit home =) Thank you for all you have done! And for staying! ;) p.s. I have to tell you I LOVED your performance on the A.M.A.. No synthesizers.....no light shows....no dancers......Just one man....one guitar... one harmonizing voice.......and 3 stools.....now THAT takes talent! Thank you for representing Michigan SO well! =) Love you! XOXO

I couldn't get tickets thru fan club or presale...both myself & my best-friend tried like crazy. We both had our computers going Friday, I had 2 going she had one going & I was finally able to get tickets. I have seen this before with many events & "ticket brokers" to the point that I did research myself a few years ago because it is ridiculous how they get the best seats quickly & are able to mark them up so high. What I am about to post has no connection to what happened in this instance, Ford Field or Ticketmaster specifically, but it gives you insight into how this happens IN OTHER CASES: Randy Cohen, president and CEO of TicketCity.com--a ticket brokerage with 40 employees, a store in Austin, Tex., and a big presence on the Internet--makes no apologies for his line of work, which might be called scalping with a legitimate sheen. He says his business is all about contacts. "We have relationships and contracts with people and venues," says Cohen, who is on the board of directors of the National Association of Ticket Brokers. "Through our relationships we're able to get tickets." They have a ton of people working for them who are able to buy up the tickets in a large amount once they go on-sale and if the tickets aren't good they can let them go & try again. This in combination with some "relationships & contracts with people & venues" gives them a huge advantage. I should note that on the National Association of Ticket Brokers website they state their members have no relationship with Ticketmaster. Fans KEEP trying everyday if you can as sometimes they release more tickets closer to the concert. It does bum us out as fans & I don;t see anyway to keep this from happening in the future, not thru traditional methods of online ticketing anyway. Kid your fan club is great and it limits the # of tickets 1 can buy keep it going. We love you & it would be cool if you had a thread on your fan club site where people could offer creative ideas on future ticket sales.

I would like to say kid rock needs better openers for 85 a ticket, Nickelback always has good openers. look at avenged sevenfold only charging 45 a ticket and has 2 other good acts with them.
jbuckeyes1's picture

people stop crying it wasnt that hard to get tickets to the ford field show. the presale was easy. I dont like the scalpers but maybe just limit tickets to four a person.
jbuckeyes1's picture

also you know it and i know it the promoters get the best seats anyways. i always see tickets for shows for sale even before they are on ticketmaster. its all inside jobs, what to do maybe sell all the good seats the week of the show.

I am one who missed out on your tickets. So, so bummed about it. But never did I think to blame you. I think you are in amazing writer and musician. I respect the fact that you write this from your heart and not what a publicist wants you to say. Hopefully I can make it to one of your concerts in the near future. I live in Michigan (Higgins Lake) as well and love that you are a home boy! Happy Birthday and enjoy your tour!

85 a ticket is alot of money kid

Its been a problem for years I know I worked in the detroit concert biz 20 years ago. I know how its done and the reason is easy money. Stoping it in the new digtial age is the hard part but it can be done. Maybe look at doing a PPV of the show so fans who could not get tickets can still see it. Just an idea Dale

It's just wrong. Thanks for speaking out against it.

Thanks for the post. Thought I'd hit the auto show and your concert all in one weekend. A dream mini-vacation for me. Well everything in life doesn't turn out as planned. I'll try to see you in Chicago. I got to see you at Summerfest in Milwaukee and it was awesome. We got tickets at the last minute and it was something 2 out of work autoworkers could afford. It was the highlight of that summer.

I definitely don't think people blame you, we all know the slippery suckers can slither into anything and will. I think you already do all that you can to help your fans get to know you as the artist and now after the documentary the father that you are. We all love your music and respect you as a huge part of our community, thank you for caring!!! Kelly

SUGGESTION -Make the ticket specific to the individual who purchased the ticket or who they purchased it for. Just think about airline tickets. They are non-transferrable. No one can use your airline ticket but you. No one scalps airline tickets. It would probably make the ticket buying experience a little more complicated, but your fans would not mind. They would be thrilled to see you in concert at a reasonable price and know that you cared enough to create a process that is solely for protecting them. I once paid $350 for a ticket to see you...it was worth it...but it gave the profit to the wrong person! Love ya Bob! By the way, if I had you tied to a chair, I wouldnt be beating up your friend. haha
KidRockFan4Life's picture

SUGGESTION: You can do what Miley Cyrus done with her tickets. Have it where the orginial purchaser who bought the tickets show their ID and the credit card they used to pick them up AT the stadium. And if the names and credit card didn't match, you didn't get the tickets. Just an idea. BTW...I love ya Kid!! Hope to see you in North Carolina.
