Have I missed it? there is a pearl jam channel, a margaritaville channel, where's Kid's channel?
wouldnt it be great? to hear kid unedited, acoustic jam sessions with other artists, commentary, etc.?
How do you know when the show is gonna be a great?
Well, first of all, it's always good, in fact, I've never been to a bad one..lol.. but how do you REALLY know when it's gonna be awesome before ya even get into the venue???
My answer is
By the way fans are partying before the show.... It's when security has to cart out dozens of ppl for being too drunk before we even go in..lol Yes, it's sad to say, but I've never seen so many drunk folks stumbling around on a casino floor, nodding off at machines, walking into things, blabbering on about non-sense, and throwing-up in line.. all in one place. Ya have to wonder why?
Why would one wanna waste good money to see the greatest band perform and not even get thru the day to actually see them. Well... it's the celebration, I mean c'mon now... Kid Rock's in town... gotta celebrate, poor bastards.. if they only knew that the show really didn't begin yet.. but to us it did...lol God Bless all u drunks that didn't quite make it to the show.. I felt sorry for yall.... for about minute... and I know how ya feel cuz there's been times that we've stumbled our way in, too....lol
I can clearly recongnize a Kid Rock fan from a mile away. I think a lot of you can do the same.. it's in our blood. It's not even the clothes we wear, or how we act, we just know. We parked the car on the highest level of the parking garage cuz I like being high.... up that is..and it's easier for me to know where the car is.. if I happen to get tipsy... not that I'll be able to drive.. but at least I can sleep it off. As soon as we got out of the car, a bunch of 40 somethings were walking to their car. I say to them.. 'Yall are here for the Kid Rock show, ain't cha" ? Their reply back, "Hell Yea" !! We just know ~wink~
We get inside the casino at around 3:30 - 4pm. Walked over to where the venue is, and caught up with a few recognizable faces from the community. We said hello, and then off we went to the box office for our 'will call' tickets. This was a general admissions show.. there was no VIP, no swag bags, nothing fancy, just good ole GA. I had no problems at 'will call'. I gave them my ID, the card I used to get the tickets, and the print out of our receipt. There wasn't a line, and it was beautiful. We then went back to the front of the venue, and got in line for our bracelets. They only gave out 100 of them, and ya had to be there, with a ticket in hand to get one. We got real lucky, didn't have to wait long, and we were number 16th and 17th in line. It had to be the shortest time I've ever waited in a GA line to get front row.. gotta love the Borgata shows.
After we had gotten our bracelets, we began to walk around the casino floor and play a few slots. We began to see a few members of TBT walking around, and we did manage to say a quick hello to Jason, Dave, and Larry. Thank you so much taking a moment out of your time to say hello to us fans. I know it's gotta be hell on these guys, they stop to say hello to one fan, then twenty more fans come running; asking for pictures and autographs. I don't ever ask for those things.. I'm just forever greatful that they are kind enough to play one hell of a set.. the smile and hello are a bonus. We love this band !!
We stopped in the cafe aside of the venue to grab a light dinner and drink. Borgata prices aren't cheap.. and we had to make it cheap, so we shared a turkey club and had a capt. and coke. Can't completely cut out the drinks..lol
By that time it was already time to go back inside and wait at the venue. So after the cafe, we went upstairs and got a beer.
How ya know it's gonna be a good show reason number 2:
It's when the event staff at the front door and barricade are acting the same as the fans. It's not that they were drinking... but it's that they weren't standing there like stiffs, they had personality, and they were just excited for the show, if not more then the actual fans...lol They start telling us that we are in for a treat, that Kid Rock and TBT is gonna blow the roof off this joint. Well, shiiiit, I already knew that..lol
An hour goes by, and it didn't even feel like it. We mingled with the whole front row, got to know everyone. Met another couple that went on the boat that was there. Real cool cats.. hope we get the chance to see them more. Her name's Daisy, but I forgotten his.... but we nicked him Buddy Holly for the cool glasses he was wearing..lol Met up with Lori and her sister Lisa from the community. There were a few more, I remember a John and a cute chick with bright red hair, but forgot her name. I'm not good with names, my short term's bad.... but cool peeps all around.
The Show
We got to the front of the stage and if ya know me, you'll know where to find me, Yes.. Krause's side. Lori and her sister were also there, so we got to rock out with them thru the whole show. Always a blast rocking it out with people ya know from here. There wasn't an opener, so it went right into their show.
Shakes took the stage and introduced Kid Rock and The Twisted Brown Trucker Band. They opened with Rock n Roll Jesus. The white curtain was pulled revealing Kid Rock in an orange/red t-shirt with the words 'Old Fart' written across his chest. I about died laughing, but Mr. Rock didn't resemble the likes of any old fart that I know of, as they went into God Bless Saturday, MF Quite Like Me and American Bad Ass. The man can still jump higher then I can kick..lol They played Slow my Roll next. Jason Krause had a new guitar that he was strumming for the song. Next was Cowboy/Lay it on me, followed by a solo version of Rock doing Care.
Then, Twisted Brown Trucker exploded as they went into Feel this/Fist of Rage/BullGod/Forever/Sugar medley. They slowed it down when Kid Rock went for his lawn chair and did the song Flying High. Someone from the crowd threw him a stogie, and he picked it up, looked at it for a minute, and then smiled and put it in his pocket. Meanwhile, we caught on to the idea, and Geno got out his brand of stogies and threw one up for Jason. Next up was F--cking Forty. Rock started to talk about the shirt he was wearing, and how ya can be associated as an old fart with hitting the age forty. Everybody laughed. I pointed at him and muffled out the words.. 'You are an old fart'. Well, he must of caught me saying it, cuz he put his hands on his hips, and was like 'Hey now'...lol Then they went into 3 Sheets, followed by So Hott. Next, they lined 5 stools up at the front of the stage which sat Marlon, Shannon, Bob, Jessie, and Jason, and they performed a beautiful acoustic version of Purple Sky followed by Shannon Curfman and Rock performing Picture. They rocked the ending with Bawitdaba, followed by an encore with a new percussion style of All Summer Long. Scary Larry step out in front and played a special percussion woodbox. Jason Krause took Larry's place and played drums and bongos. Aaron played the wood blocks. Dime had two percussion instruments going on. Rock had a pair of maracas. They all seemed to have their own lil percussion instrument.. shoot next time, I'm bringing a triangle.. m.f'ers, so I can play along..lol The encore was not over.. Bob did a very sincere version of Only God Knows Why on the piano. It was so sincere - so real, I felt like I was the only one in the room.... kinda crazy.. but that's how much I feeling the song.. it felt like one of the longest moments ever.. eyes locked, I began to sing with him, and I thought of our dear friend Snapples, and I bowed my head. The show was finished out with a very patriotic Born Free. A nice feel-good ending to a great show. Thank You to Kid Rock and the Band.. you ALWAYS put on one hell of a show.
The Afterparty
The night was young, and I ended up going to the car to freshen-up and change so that we could hit the club where they were having an afterparty hosted by Kid Rock with special guest Rev Run and D-Nice. The club filled-up quick with sweaty, stinky bodies all over the dance floor, people dancing, drinking, having a good time. It got to the point that it was so filled.. you couldn't really even dance, cept rub up on everybody.. and bounce. We had a couple drinks and worked our way towards the dj booth so we could see everybody do their thing. Not sure I was up for club type music.. it was loud, and it just had a beat to it.. sounded all the same.. guess I should buy a shirt that says 'old fart' on it, too. Then again, I wasn't drinking as much as I'm used to, and I had a toothache... so I wasn't myself. The Rev and D-Nice's set was great. The Rev played and sang along to some of his classics from Run DMC, as Kid Rock sang along. They celebrated D-Nice's 40th birthday. At one point, I think they played 'Call me D-Nice' Rock was gettin everybody pumped up by spittin parts of 2 Live Crew's "We want some pu$$y"
After the club, we met up with a few friends for a nice drink and chit chat.. hung out til about 4am, then did a half hour of gambling. Geno and I finished out the blissful night in the cafe by 4:30am for an early morn'n breakfast to reflect on the great night.
Good times, as always.. thanks for the fun !!

Good times, as always.. thanks for the fun !!
Thanks Ajay : )
Yea Cheryyl... it's one of those songs that everyone can relate to. Hoping it's still on the setlist for Hershey.
Tho... I'm dyin' to see them perform 'Rock On' live one of these days.
I agree that Care needs Jessie, he also did a solo in London Ontario not to say it wasn't good though. I am also one of the fans who loves Only God Knows Why. He did that beautifully. I was so into that song< Hope he does that song again in Detroit.
Sounds like a great time. Very nice animated review there. Painted the picture well i think. Gets me more pumped for my show and it is still a few weeks away.....Glad y'all had a good time!
thanks you guys... glad you liked
Did someone say Hershey.. Hi Jade : ).. Lotta peeps going to that one.. gonna be so much fun !! Can't wait to see you !!
I seriously need to get a triangle then...lol I got one of them salsa blocks with the zig zag ridges, it's shaped like a fish..lol I didn't see them using one of them either..ha
Angel.. yea.. I truly like the version with Jessie.. I like that Rock is doing TI's part.. but still would love to see Jessie do her thing with that song. Jessie was featured along with Shannon when they did Purple Skies...which is nice... but hard to teach an old listener a new way.. like an old dog new tricks. Perhaps Bob wanted to throw the element of a solo.. behind the piano.. brilliant performance at us.. but with Jessie it adds an element of soul and spunk... I liked her in it. In Fact.. the behind the piano solo that he did for Only God Knows Why, was brilliant.. dude had a twinkle in his eye doing that song... lol The expression in his face was sooooooo sincere, so heartfelt..... of all the times I've heard that in concert... this was far the best time I've ever experienced and felt the song in my heart. Don't know how more else to explain it without sounding crazy..lmao
Great review as always. Thanks for taking the time. and I hope you feel better. And I agree with you totally. Its ok to say Hi, i love ya, whaddup, give a wave. BUT PLEASEDONT BOMBARD THEM for autographs etc. Thats why they stop comeing out. just be cool and hang back and maybe they will be comfortable enuogh to hang out wth ya'll.
Im a little bummed that Jessie isnt doing Care with KR since thats one of the coolest versions Ive ever seen. Not that I dont love a KR solo, but ya just cant leave that much talent sit on the bench.
a triangle? LOLOL Awesome review, Beckxy! sounds like you had a great time! glad you hooked up with Lori & Lisa, they totally rock.

What a great review. The Old Fart shirt too funny. The percussion style version of All Summer Long sounds really cool and bringing your own triangle...hilarious!!
