    Why is if you live south of Springfield, Illinois you are considered a "hillbilly". I don't get that. Yet you go to Nashville, TN, Kentucky or anywhere else and they call you a Northerner. Some of you supposed Northern ppl and those Southern ppl need to get together and make up your damn mind! Are we northern or southern!

This has been a terrible year for storms of all kinds. I just hope the worst of it is over or all of it is over as far as devastation.

I made this thread for fun and to talk shit and goof. Unfortunately it has turned into a sadly reality that is currently going on. Yeah ppl keep posting as you hear news. Not trying to discourage that in the least. Just wish it magically or something hadn't happened is all.

Grits are awesome! A good friend of mine was born and raised up north. She moved here a few years ago and I took her to the Waffle House. She hated it, called it a "grease pit". But there, they serve grits with everything! She always liked to make fun of my accent too! LOL

I remember being asked that as a kid the first time when visiting the South--grits ain't bad :)

Ha ha Donna! You're right. Language is way different. Like people up north say, "you all". Southern people say, "y'all".. And you are right, all soda's are considered, cokes. lol..

I'm on the prayer bandwagon also! Those storms are horrible, and they're headed my way, I'm in South Carolina. Alabama got hit hard!

Thanks RSMS, I should have explained further, We were on our way down to Florida for Spring Break and we were looking for some place to buy beer, just can't remember what state it was in, HMMM wonder why. Interesting to find out what sayings others have from different parts of the country, or the world,

@April- they are convenience stores but we call them party stores in Michigan.
I can honestly say I have never in my life ordered a soda--it's pop! But they say soda in Boston, too, and Boston is definitely not in the south.

And as a kid I lived in Pennsylvania for a short time, and me and my mama went to the grocery store down there and we couldn't find grits. We asked somebody and he didn't even know what the hell we were talking about! LOL So we just called my granny and she shipped some out to us! Ha ha!

-North Carolina
-South Carolina
-Tennessee
-Georgia
-Alabama
-Louisiana
-Texas
-Mississppi
Arkansas
-Florida
Other states that are sometimes considered Southern are
-Kentucky
-West Virginia **
-Missouri
-Oklahoma
Kentucky and MIssouri were considered part of the Confederacy by th South and had seats in the Confederate Congress and had stars on the confederate flag. That's why the flag has 13 stars although only 11 states officially left the union

Where I come from, Pa...until I was 12, & at that stage in life where everyone could pull you along... I was born and raised northern, but have lived life as a southerner and I am Damn Proud of it!!! I love Spring and Fall. If only i didn't have allergies they would be heaven. Here is something funny for you to chew on. The first year after i quit smoking pot i developed allergies in the spring. I quit smoking pot just a few months before that. I honestly and to this day feel screwed over on that one....Not that i think if i started smoking pot that they would go away. I just see it like this i quit bad habit then i get allergies. Almost seemed like punishment to me...

KRCVAL, you didn't jinx anything, we finally had an ok day, end of April. We deserve a nice Spring and an unbelievable Summer. I love snow but this winter sucked. I would love to get outside and not be drenched, or blown away by wind.

I probably am one of the few who live the furthest North on this board in the U.S. that is - Northeastern, Minnesota.

I do know we have a lot of Canadians on this board as well.

But anyhow.... Personally, I have always considered anyone in Illinois to be in the Midwest but if ya wanna be Southern then so be it! : )
