so I hear a lot of people are on this coconut water, coconut milk, coconut oil health craze, so I went and picked up some Malibu Coconut Rum, does that count?????
I am a loyal fan of Kid Rock, (and TBT), REGARDLESS of the answer - BUT, I'VE GOTTA ASK ~ Do you think Kid has GONE COUNTRY FOR GOOD?! Or will he eventually "throw back" to his hip-hop roots? If Kid has gone COUNTRY for GOOD,should he change his name to "KID COUNTRY," revert to Bobby Ritchie OR change it to KID COUNTRY?

I think he is capable of rockin the country
Good point on Henley, Irish Eyes.
But as far as what Bob should do... haha Rest assured thats the opposite of what he will do... lol If everyone turns left, Rock will go right. Thats the way hes always been. Hes not interested in making Rap any longer. I keep hopeing he will doa cd with Rev run. Some old school stuff. But its not likely.
audrey says "I don't think you really understand him, he is 40 now and not going to sing about what 20 year olds sing about "
audrey who are you talking too and why arent you posting on don henleys website?
I made a comment about twenty year olds but what i meant by it is simply rock rap is not dead our younger gen still listens to it and its still being produced. just because musically rock wants to get away from rock rap..doesnt mean its dead..he should embrace that he was a part of it and its a part of him and that kind of music is still in him.. all kinds of music lives inside him.... obviously ..soulfoul music..that comes from his soul and from whatever place he is in at the moment
Really Kid Rock's Cd is Rock, just take a slow burn "Listen: , not just a fricken quick fix glance.
This cd has to grab an shake yu to the core.\!
I for one know, it is a different style, I would be a fool to argue that Point, but this cd from my perspective needs and has reached a different Genre' of people. So just relaxing get a one hitter or not or a 5th of JB, or heck a cup of coffee, this Style of Kid Rock has to soak in deep!!
I don't think you really understand him, he is 40 now and not going to sing about what 20 year olds sing about
I don't think it matters what Bob/Kid Rock does really. He will land on his feet. Seems everything i have heard him try his hand @ he does well.
But like i said what direction Bob and his music goes is his choice. It is only for him to say. I don't knock Born Free either. That has some raunchy bar room stomps, some ballads, blues, and just about something for everybody in there.
I am just totally pleased that so many ppl have connected with this cd like i have. I mean i have heard ppl say it has helped them through some really tough times in their lives or that it totally is their story of their life. That right there is the sign of doing it right. No other way to put it.
@KRangel..i have asked many a youth twentysomethings and under ..who feel rock/rap is still here well and alive and is not going away any time soon..kid should embrace it..he helped to mold and shape the genre..even if he doesnt want to put down that way mmusically nymore doesnt mean he isnt or never was a big contributer to what rock/rap is today..look at lil wayne n what hes doing right now with his new album i bet hed agree as well
i agree with dawn..good point. imo changing his name to kid country would only put limitations upon his music audience wise and creatively for him..Kid Rocks talent is to wide spread to just put him in a box and place a label on it. Besides that its not what Kid stands for..hes always been about pushing the label and going beyond and above expectations that have otherwise been set before him by the industry and his critics. On the contrary though hearing his real name wouldnt be a bad change..just dont think he should be so drastic to drop kid rock completely or change to kid country
Give me a break! When he did do hip-hop his name wasn't hip-hop Kid. Besides, I don't hear country when I listent to Born Free. I hear true rock and roll like Bob Seger. Why is it that so many people hear country on this album? I don't get it.
Hmmm, this one made the web

He has been clear in interviews he is NOT changing his name. Kid Rock Forever. He has also been clear that he believes Rock Rap is over and done with. ( while I disagree) It is doubtful he will write new music in that genre. I believe there will be plenty of Rock in new albums. I dont know why people want to try to stuff him in one genre. He has never just done one genre and I doubt he ever will.
He doesnt really write country music anyway. Born Free was mostly Bob Seger type Rock. Very little country in there.
I Love Kid ~ Just the Way He IS ~ No "pigeon holing"!! No labels ... He is who he is and he does what he does... idc what name he chooses, or what music he creates ... Bob Ritchie is my HERO and he Always Will Be !!! Love this Man ~ no "ifs" ... "ands", ... or "buts" !!!
I think it will depend largely upon what he is influenced by most next. He has been influenced heavily by southern rock, country, honky-tonk, soul, rock and roll, and hip-hop. But out of all of those, I can see the hip hop fading by the wayside, and I think he has said as much in a couple of interviews I have read. That's not to say the the great lyricist that he was with the hip hop will disappear; he will always be a great songwriter, just pulled in a diffferent direction. I am looking forward to what he comes up with next..he is SUCH a talented guy!! It blows me away.
Country can be rock, doesn't he make you rock or rock out? lol :)
I would say you are gonna have to ask Kid Rock/Bobby yourself for that answer. If the next record don't come as easy as this one i wouldn't bet on it. I think he may be in the studio a lot longer for this next one, or @ least i would guess he will. Nothing is free in this life, especially art.
He is supposedly moving to Nashville so Junior can start @ a college down there. I think he has been moving toward country. Country music isn't as easy as one would think to break into. Nashville runs a bit different then what one would think. And if he was to go to Bobby Ritchie he might want to use a middle name. But hell most just have a two names in country now like his buddy Jamey Johnson.
I don't think Bob likes the fact that most country music has songwriters either. He said in the Jim Beam interview that he likes to write with one person and that has been Marlon, Before that it was Kracker. Funny though on the Target release it seems like he was saying someone else helped him on Born Free. He alluded to the fact that this cd and all the lyrics just came so easy instead of him sweating it out in the studio as long.
All i know is your just going to have to ask Kid Rock/Bobby. That is his call. But to be quite honest i am not sure even he knows @ this point. The different genres of music aren't selling like they used to. Demographics are different nowadays. SO much d/l goes on. From what i have seen things like Bieber, country, and some pop/rock sell good numbers. Not much rap is selling well @ this point.
Sherri Just a feeling I have is that like hes always dabbled in genre's he decided he wanted to try Country. I think he likes to explore alot. had a wild side to him and that is GOOD for his fans. Just be patient Sherri pretty soon His son Junior will get real good at RAP and then OLE DADDY O will have to get into the MIX to keep the standards where he will want JUNIOR to KEEP them..I can type just wished I could talk around him...maybe sign language will have to surfice then I will work my way up to talking. hes the first man since I can remember when that made me dabilitatingly SHY...I just went with it . in my MIND I was giving myself a PEP talk " TALK DUMMY or hes gonna think your a BIG DORK "...lol...may need more practice being around him so the SHYNESS debarks...she can TYPE lika MFER just can't TALK to me...
I hope he never changes it to Kid Country! I don't think he would and I don't think he'll just do country. I am not a fan of country music at all but i love Kid Rock and i do love his country songs, but i love his hip hop and rock. Thats my favorite.
Sherri- He got his name not by his music but Rock derives his name from his early years rapping in parking lots and bars, when people in the audience would say, "Look at that white kid rock." He dropped "white," and his stage name was born....so yeah-- he'll most likely keep it!
