Now get in the pit and try to love someone.
We've had some good discussions on what/who has influenced KR's music..I'm interested to know where other fans musical interests lie, and how you got there.
My older sister was a Beatles and Herb Alpert (I know) fan. So I listened to that.
My older brother turned me on to Led Zeppelin, Savoy Brown, Jethro Tull, Cat Stevens, and a Woodstock release. I bought my first cassette with my birthday money when I was in 7th grade, Houses of the Holy by Led Zeppelin. I grew up listening to all of the great Detroit radio stations; at the time, WRIF (my favorite-Arthur, Carl, Doug), Wheelz, and W4 (b4 it was a country station-yes I do like country, too). Around Labor Day, one of the stations, I think it was W4, would ask the listeners to mail in their top 100 favorite songs, and they would play them. So here I was writing down Brown Sugar by the Stones, Free Ride by Edgar Winter, Rock Candy by Sammy Hagar, etc.
Back then, all we really did for entertainment was listen to the radio. Seems like my whole pre-teen and teen years revolved around it. My mom was an absolute saint. Every day before school, we'd BLAST the stereo. By that time, in our teens, it was Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Bob Seger, Starz, April Wine.
Now I like most anything that I hear. Music still entertains me. I can even stand a polka if I have to, it reminds me of all of the family holiday parties we'd have where each aunt and uncle would play something. I still have my aunt's accordion; someday I'll learn to play it. I even have tickets to the Saginaw Symphony Orchestra (I drag my kids along-lol).
So jump on the memory train and share your musical past and present :).

Y/W, Ms. Laura!
Sir Graves Ghastly!! 1:00 on CBS after all of the Saturday cartoons!! I even got a postcard from him for sending in a picture of a bloodthirsty mosquito (remember how he used to show the pics kids would draw and send in?)
And the Ghoul, Channel 66, classic. Remember his goatee thingy he had going on?
I have tried to google Sir Graves stuff and Captain Kangaroo too (LOL), and Woodrow the Woodsman (even more LOL) to no avail. They used to retape over stuff back then b/c it was all local stations.
