Kid Rock Earns Standing Ovation at American Music Awards

Kid Rock did Detroit proud again Sunday night with his performance of "Times Like These" during the American Music Awards.

Rock belted out lyrics about the Motor City's struggle during the auto crisis and recent recession while images of the area's stressed cityscape and landmarks filled screens in the background. The acoustic version of the song, off his new "Born Free" album, garnered a standing ovation from a sold-out audience at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre.

The post-American Music Awards chatter around the rest of the country might be focused on Justin Bieber's sweep and Taylor Swift's bangs.
