Now get in the pit and try to love someone.
First off Wichita was on the edge of the blizzard covering most of the country, with blowing snow and winds up to 45 mph, temps in the negative. The show started on time with the opening act Ty Stone and the Truth and although new to a lot of folks the played and jammed very well, their set lasted about 45 min. Then a brief intermission followed by Jamey Johnson whose low voice and style of music reminded be of good ol' country like Waylon, Johnny and both Hanks, Jamey and his band played of a little over an hour, that was when Kid came out and let the audience know that Kid's band was still on the road to the show. and to quote Kid "I aint never canceled a show and I'm not going to start in Wichita" Kid explained that Jamey's band would fill in until Kid's band arrived. After a small break to get the stage right and make a set list. The lights went down and there were the KID and Jamey's band. They played Kid Rock songs, (All Summer Long, Cowboy and others) but they play some songs you may never hear the Kid sing ever again in concert, (Little Pink Houses, Night Moves, Folsom Prison Blues, and more) Too make a long story short Kid's band arrived and although right off the bus they didn't miss a beat, and rock HARD for the next hour, during this show Kid was saying how thankful he was to the audience for traveling through the weather and spending they’re hard earned money to see his show. But he was very thankful to the crowd for understanding exactly what was happing, and show going wrong that turn into maybe the best show I have ever seen. I hope someone can get this to Kid but I saw last night just how much a professional he is and as a man I will never "phone it in" I will do what it takes to get the job done. Thanks Kid you are ROCK.
Stay Cool, and please tell all the bands I really appreciate them also.

Rock's had some crazy stuff hapening so far this tour...
The curtain in the back didn't work for the dollar bill thing during EMSP in one of the very first shows. Then I saw a video where his piano wasn't plugged in for Born Free. Then having to start without TBT... & the VH1 thing I think he wasn't feeling 100% and that's just the stuff I've seen. There's probably alot more.
Rock handles it all very well and gets right through it. Nobody puts on a show like the master.
Hopefully all that stuffs outta the way & the rest of the tour goes off without a hitch.
I wish some videos of this show would surface. I love seeing Rock doing covers.
Thats great Wichita!!!!!
That's an awesome review Clint! I'll be seeing him in Louisville this Friday andnthen in April I'll see him on the cruise! Are you going on the cruise? If so, i have a sweet cruise T-Shirt for sale. If you don't mind, please pass on the info! Check it out if you get a chance.

I was privileged to be at that show as well. It was awesome seeing Kid interact with the other bands. It seemed a couple of times that Kid was frustrated that everything wasn't just perfect, but, for me, it really added to the experience. We got to see a real musician performing that night, with no voice overs and all the crap that so many shows use to hide the lack of talent many of today's "artists" have. When the band did get there, you could tell they came right off the bus (many of them were still wearing coats and stocking caps) but they jumped in and put on a great show.
I didn't think it was possible, but I'm a bigger fan now than I was before going to the show. Thanks Kid!
Now, Clint that;s what really makes all of this worth while, yes Kid is one heck of a show'smen, thanks!, for an awesome review!!
Thanks for the awesome review Clint
Welcome Cowboy!!!!
Hi Cowboy! I just went to my first show ever in Columbus. First let me say I am so sorry to hear about you being unable to go. Mother nature blows in more ways than one. Also I hope you do get to go to a show really soon!. Have no fear Kid Rock's the place, I still chuckle to myself because I can't believe after almost forever I got to see him live, he's really fantastic. Hugs
He always blows the roof off. You need not worry about that one.
Im new to the site, but I would like to say that I live in Missouri and was going to travel to the Wichita show. But due to the snow storm that hit, we were unable to travel. The state even shut the state line down. So even if we had left for the show we wouldn't have been able to get there. I am a huge Kid Rock fan and I have waited a long time to go. I have never been to one. My loving wife got us front row tickets! I believe a make-up show is in order. However, I will give Kid his props for going on with show. I will be looking for another show as soon as I can. Im just a little Pissed because I was really looking forward to going. No hard feelings Kid. Keep on rockin, and when I do tickets to the next show, you better blow the roof off the place! To all you Kid fans out there, hello, and I hope you all will keep his music going forever!
Glad you had a good time Clint! I found this just now, him talking to the crowd about the band not being there. It sounds like he worked his rear off to make it happen :-D

Nice post, Clint. Thank you!!!
Well said Clint! Thanks Kid Rock and group.
Having said how awesaome it would be to see him do those covers. ITS NOT A KID ROCK SHOW WITHOUT THE TBT. Jus sayin. I love the band as much as the frontman. lol
What a wonderful review of the concert last night. I was blown away as well at how he handled the situation and still rocked the house. I know it had to be very stressful for Kid and the band but I really think we are pretty lucky that we got to experience something so different. One thing is for sure, he will never forget that snowy night in Wichita, Ks and neither will we!!!
It just goes to show who the entertainer really is WE really loved the show KId ROCK Just keep Rocking Thanks from us here in Wichta
FRIENDOR FOE We are Kid Rock Fans. OFCOURSE we understand the disappointment. Who wouldnt be disappointed. And NO it isnt your fault. BUT ITS NOT BOBs fault either. and it wasnt just him. It was Jamie johnsons Band and crew and Ty stones Band and crew and The venue and all the other people who got there. Ya'll act like its so easy just to call shit off. well all those other bands and crews were there the day before all set up.
The only reason TBT wasnt there is because of video shoot.
And it really pissed me off that peeps were worryed about there $80 ticket when the band was stuck out in a Blizzard on the interstate. Im sorry you missed the show. But thats Mother natures fault. Dont be dissin the rockstar
Clint, thank you so much for posting this... It sounds like an awesome time. I would frankly much prefer to see a unique and unusual show like this as opposed to the standard show he plays everywhere. You got to see something very special! My very first KR show was a small benefit concert at a small venue, and it fucking blew my mind. It was unlike any other concert (his or others) and I wouldn't trade that for any other show.
I am sorry that some were unable to make it, and I hope those folks get compensated somehow. but for those of you that went, and the band, crew & KR who braved the weather? You all are awesome!
sounds like an awesome improv night with the kid. even though the weather was bad you got to see a unique show the rest of the people wont get to see. the people who were too afraid to make the trip for one reason or another probably missed out on something they will regret.
Yes Kid did the best he could with the bad weather and the band being late but if I were him I would have said Hold on to your ticket stubs, I am coming back to Wichita on this tour and you will get the show you paid for. And the ones who could not make it due to weather would get another shot at attending. Not saying that he "owes" that to us, just my wishful thinking:)
I JUST WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE, I HAD WAITED A LIFETIME, PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND THE DISAPPOINTMENT WE ALL SHARED FOR THOSE OF US WHO COULDN'T GET THERE, IT ISN'T OUR FAULT EITHER!
CLINT I THINK I LOVE YOU MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope someone got some of those covers on video, I would love to see them.
and God Bless The TWISTED BROWN STORMTROOPERS for what they went thru to get there
Nice post.
It's people's post's like this one that make me enjoy reading and even logging in to post my own comment.
I appreciate your write-up Clint as many do and will.
Thanks.
I think that says it all!
