For anyone who has had somone close to them die...
    MiddleSister says (04 Dec '10)

My sister just died three weeks ago... She took her own life. I'm devastated by what happened. In the midst of my grief I heard Born Free. I could't believe the words... I bought the album and continued to listen... I was speechless when I heard When it Rains and Rock On. They really resonated with me. Words cannot describe how much this album has meant to me, my other sister and my nieces. It has helped us begin to come to terms with the magnitute of what has happened...

I've been a fan since the beginning, my sisters too. We were bonded in so many ways by Kid Rock's music. In 2007, we all purchased Rock N Roll Jesus the day that it came out and drove our families crazy listening to it non-stop. And then this new CD... wow!  While it means so much to me personally, I also feel that it's going to become one of those classic albums that future generations will love!

One of the things that we found in my sister's belongings was a note where she had rewritten this from the insert of KR's CDs. I've used her note as my avatar.

If it looks good, you'll see it.

If it sounds good, you'll hear it.

It it's marketed right, you'll buy it.

But ... if it's real, you'll feel it.

    Truer words were never spoken!

    Thanks for listening.

Thank you for all of the caring responses... I've been touched by the stories that you have shared with me. When you're sad and heartbroken, it is good to know that others care. You're right about the healing power of KR's music. I'm not sure if that was his intention when writing these songs but I'm so glad that he not only wrote them but included them on Born Free.

I am very sorry for your loss. Losing someone you love is never easy. It's a hard thing to come to terms with something that happens so tragically.

The world stood still for me when I heard When It Rains. It took me back to something I had never forgotten or dealt with. The death of someone I loved dearly as miss constantly. A really good friend lost his battle with cancer less than a year ago. Both deaths left me raw and devastated, When It rains really hit home.

God Bless you and your family.

I'm so sorry for you and your Family's loss. It's beautiful to hear how music is helping you guys to begin to come to terms with what happened though... it is true I feel, God does use music in so many awesome ways, this being one. You and your family are in my thoughts & prayers. I was just thinking of a few friends that I have lost over the years and I think the next time I listen to "When it Rains"... it will be them that I think of rather than KR/ Joe C. - somehow, I don't think either would mind, I think they would both be honored. :)
