I was watching tv and happened to see on the guide tonight kid rock's name. It was for a new 30 minute special on CMT. Kid rock living his life and talking about his new album born free and his upcoming tour. Now to go back to 1998. I was in high school and my friend happened to get devil without a cause album very soon after it came out, months before it was playing on the radio. First time I heard it I couldn't stop listening every single track kicked major A$$. I blew out all the speakers on anything with a cd player. Fast forward to watching this show tonight. Kid rock's son wants him to listen to some songs that him and his band had recorded. The music style of his son's band is rock rap. After listening to the first songs KID says to his son "rock rap is dead", and to the effects long been dead. Being a loyal fan for all these years I can't believe those words came out of his mouth and am really wondering how or why.
I have had no issues with the evolution of his music. I have bought every CD faithfully. For him to say this I just can't believe and am just takin aback. In my opinion he is the KING of rock rap. If it is dead it is only because he would let it die. It is his roots, how can you not only turn on your roots but make the statement that they are dead. I am wondering who told him this or where he could have gotten this idea from. I have full faith in the fact that kid rock could make another rock rap album that could blow away any album he has done since devil without a cause. Ya he is getting older and matured and is doing different things but a track or two of some real kid can't hurt anything by any means. I have met kid rock after a concert before and have gone faithfully to every concert that comes to my area sometimes two in one tour. So there is more to this story that I could tell but will leave it to another time/discussion.
