When I went to his official site and tried to download Rock N Roll Jesus I got this claptrap:

The Rhapsody MP3 Store is currently only available inside the United States.Does anyone know how service members (far from family and loved ones) can download his music? It seems a slap in the face to me....I am either missing. At least that is my hope. The alternative is that all KR has done with the USO and for our service menbers has just been to sell records.

Trey, You're the man !! Thank You so much toning down your title.. it not only means a lot for the fans, but I would believe it would mean a lot to Kid Rock n TBT.
Trey.. it's a good thing you don't like handouts, because I'm the kinda of girl who don't like ppl looking for free handouts, unless they are down and out and really need the help. I just thought even so... I could send you a wonderful sentiment of something LIVE of Kid Rock's from your home state : ) The first ever show that I went to see was in in Philadelphia at the Electric Factory.. ever been there? Kid Rock was there October, 1999 ~ I just happen to have a wonderful friend who shared that show with me on a cd... perhaps you would like it?

I toned down the title--I was over the top last night. I appreciate the feedback. I am still peeved that the only way to get music by KR is to buy a CD. Seems like a complete watse of resources to me. I haven't bought a CD in years. I'd rather download everything. Eventually it will be the only way, but that day is just a few years off.

Trey, I'm not sure where you tried to download this music from. The offical site doesn't have any link to purchase music other than the Born Free pre-order that I could find.
I've used Amazon to purchase things and have them sent to US Military addresses with no problem, and you can download RNRJ there... have you tried that? here is the link: Amazon-Kid Rock
Rhapsody doesnt sell all of Kid Rocks music anyway. Most of us have purchased his CD's and loaded them on our puters to put on our ipods or mp3 players. Over the years we have added thousands of live shows, etc by sharing with each other. Its not a handout. Its being a good Fan. I cant tell you how many KR CD's I have sent to my Adoptaplatoon guys and girls.
Kid Rock is a good person and so are his fans!!!

I am very sorry you are facing such confusion and frustration. If Kid Rock has brought any joy to you, in any way: musically, through his outreach, his persona, or his dedication, please try to dwell on the good. His peeps are working diligently to get to the bottom of this. If you can try to be patient, rest assured the limitations you speak of ARE BEING Investigated. It sounds like you have had some success with 'itunes' that you feel comfortable with. There are other options, which should yeild similar results, though possibly not quite as quickly. :(
We must respect Mr. Ritchie and how he chooses to protect that which he pours his heart into.
This is what makes the America you protect, ... 'FREE' !

I appreciate the discussion and feedback--but he has made a conscious decision about which distribution channels to use.
He has settled on channels that restrict acces to military service members outside of the US.
Granted he was probably looking at the broader market, but we got swept up in his decision. I just want to bring attention to that. I suspect he never even considered it when making the (business) decision on distribution.
While I appreciate the kind offers, I don't have the space to carry around a bunch of CD's.

Yes...but Rhapsody is just a distribution channel. The artist decides which channels to use.
I don't think he is a bad guy. I just think he (and whoever runs his business) has not considered all of the implications of the channels they have settled on.
Any channel that excludes the men and women who are serving should be one he avoids if he is the man he has made himself out to be.
