    UPDATED INFO!

Everything is now confirmed with the Hampton Inn & Suites in New Orleans for our cruisers group hotel arrangements and discounted rate. I confirmed the proposal this morning via email with our contact person at Hampton Inn in New Orleans. She is mailing me a contract to sign and return to her. However,in the meantime Iwill be soon posting all the information you need to call the Hampton Inn and begin to book your hotel rooms, including the group discount code name to note when making your reservation. Wewill not haveto wait to begin booking while the mail in contract is in the process. Please wait to call and book untilour groupcode name is posted by me, of which you will need to obtain the group rate discount. :)

There will be 50 rooms blocked off, at a discounted group rate of $129.00 single/double occupancy...but if at least 30 of those rooms are not booked prior to 90 days before arrival date, which can be either April 5th or 6th, possibly sooner if you request it...remaining rooms will be released to the general public. With only 50 rooms available to us, I would suggest you call as soon as you can to book your rooms, AFTER I have posted all the information you will need to book. :)

There are many false rumors circulating, creating panicaround the Kid Rock related websites in regard to hotels being booked full in New Orleans, as well as the oil leak/spill preventing the port being in New Orleans, etc.. In an effort to discount some of these rumors I'm posting the facts as I know them to be based from talking to Sixthman staff directly,as well as hotels and the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce...not hearsay, speculation,or Facebook rumor. I went directly to those who know facts.

Fact:A majority ofhotels in New Orleans are NOT BOOKED FULL due to the festival that is taking place at the same time the cruise ship leaves the New Orleans port. These rumors began when many looked at hotels to book on line and noted the hotels stated they were booked full. However, when inquiring of the hotels directly by phone, the hotels stated that they block off rooms showing they're booked full when a date is as far in advance as April 2011, to prevent on line bookings at a previous years rate. Once the rates have been established for 2011, they will allow booking on line. In the meantime, they are accepting bookings by calling the hotel directly.

Fact: May at Sixthman has stated clearly, that they DO NOT foresee any problems at this time with the port being in New Orleans, due to the current oil leak/spill. Ships, including cruise ships...are entering and leaving the port daily. New Orleans and it's port are accustom to the risk of oil spills, and they have many measures in place of which can prevent such from hindering one of their biggest industries. Needless to say, there are no 100% guarantees with anything in life, but Sixthman is prepared to handle any problems that may arise related to their cruises.

Fact: May told me directly, they will not be pre-arranging with a hotel in New Orleans for a cruisers group rate discount. Respectivelyand understandably they want to focus their efforts on the cruise experience itself, rather than the pre-cruise hotel arrangements. With Sixthmans blessing, so to speak...we've been given the go ahead to make arrangements ourselves with a hotel for a discounted group rate. My dear friend of many years, and fellow Kid Rock fan Beckxy...and I have been communicating over the last couple of weeks related to making group arrangements with a hotel in New Orleans. I was unable to help last week, due to a family crisis situation, however...that situation has quieted down for now, and I'm now able to help Beckxy with her efforts...as she works many long hours, and can't devote the time by herself...understandably that these arrangements may take. I have more free time, and am glad to help any way I can.

I've not spoke with Beckxy this week, but as of last week...The Hampton Inn near the port of New Orleans was to send Beckxy a proposal related to a group discount for Kid Rock 2011 cruisers. We're talking 50 rooms being blocked and made available to cruisers only. The hotel offered a $30 per night discount at a rate of $129.00 per night, including many ammenities, as well as trolley service provided to and from the French Quarters, and a shuttle to the nearby port if necessary. Many cruisers prefer not to stay at a hotel in the French Quarter for a variety of reasons, one of which is preferring to be closer to the port. Once details have been confirmed with the Hampton Inn, then the information to book a room will be made available here, at Facebook, and at the official cruise forums too. There is NO NEED to panic people...plenty of hotel rooms are available at many hotels in New Orleans.

FACT: May told me directly, that Sixthman will be arranging and hosting a pre-cruise party at a location in New Orleans, just as they did atGaspars Grotto inTampa. The location will be determinedat a later date, when the cruise date is closer than it is now. They will have contests and other entertainment just as they did at Gaspars. There is no need for people to arrange a pre-party themselves...unless they simply choose to, and not attend Sixthmans official pre-party.

Goin' cruisin' with the kid out of the big easy in 2011. Booked a night's stay in two different hotels in french quarter and cruise line vicinity about 2 weeks ago. There should still be rooms around this area from what I was told by hotel staff. I got both for under $150. Some very cool places to stay in the French Quarter for all tastes. I want to know where cruisers will hang out 1 and 2 nights before the cruise. Eager to get in on anything fun and special in this party town. Me and wife will be there. Ain't that baby girl of mine cute?

jade-FXD's picture

I also booked elsewhere, in the French Quarter, since we are coming early to hang out in New Orleans... but we'd go to a pre-party... any word on that yet?

1fasthorse's picture

Thank you for the info. I will try to get on waiting list.

PKL's picture

1 fast horse I would suggest the website kidrockcruise. and get on the waiting list.

PKL's picture

I booked not there but elsewhere I seen one on priceline I could not turn down it will enable me to go there early stay a few more nights and enjoy new orleans before the cruise but I plan on attending the preparty and hopefully get a chance to meet people I have chatted with over the years...

1fasthorse's picture

How do I get info on the cruise? dates & itinerary, costs...Would be a great gift & surprise If I can set this trip up for my sister...We saw him at Country Thunder Az 2010. Would love to be part of this cruise....any help? Please!

Connie Jo_3's picture

Oh, thanks so much! Sometimes I wonder how many people actually read the stories, but when I was on the cruise many people I didn't know came up & introduced themselves, saying they recognized me from my photos here at KRC, and said they enjoy reading my posts and blog stories! I was a bit taken in, flattered, grateful too, but it never occurred to me people read without commenting, lol. So, that makes me a ding dong too doesn't it? HA!

Seems I start to write & finish the last two chapters...Saturday Show #2, Sunday Final Day, something interferes. We've had lots of storms May/June, power loss at times, or lightning causing me to shut the PC down. My daughter & her family moved in with me the 2nd week of May, shortly after returning from the cruise, that has affected my ability to finish more than any other factor. It's been somewhat chaotic with her & hubby, 4 kids and two dogs...with my two dogs that's 4. They're here from mid afternoon until bedtime, & weekends...it's difficult to focus on story writing, a bit noisey, to say the least, lol. Issues with the 'x' creating much turmoil for us all since the cruise, have often kept thoughts pre-occupied with worry. My quiet time seems to be late at night, but then my mind lacks the energy to put thought into story writing.

My daughter & her family were only suppose to stay with me two weeks while their newer home was prepared, but the rains delayed progress, and it's turned into 6 weeks now...looks to be at least another two. I love them all dearly, & enjoy the company, but their being here has altered my lifestyle in ways I'm not accustom too, haha.

I do have Chapter 6 started, it's simply a matter of finishing, which I fully intend to do, and hopefully sooner rather than later. :)

Oh, and I don't know about others...but when I personally book my flight, I'm booking it to arrive as early as possible that morning of the day before the cruise, so I have the day to explore New Orleans, prior to the pre-party that night hosted by 6thman...of which began around 8 PM this years cruise. :)

Connie Jo_3's picture

No, you need to wait for now, haha. I spoke with the person handling our group reservation today, she emailed me the proposal, of which I verbally accepted in a reply email, now she's gonna send me the contract to officially agree to. Once I have done that, then I'll post all the info you need right here and you book at that time, not before. If you book now you won't get the discounted rate! Have patience, it's all good! Yes, the Hampton has a shuttle if you prefer that over walking to the port from the hotel, but it's within walking distance, no need for a shuttle.

There is also a trolley stop near the hotel to transport us to the French Quarters, which is about a mile away...also within feasible walking distance, but the trolley is available too for $1.25 per person each way...$2.50 round trip to and from the FQ for the pre-party the night before. As far as I know, for me personally, my plan is to attend Sixthmans official pre-cruise party the night before...they'll have contests with cruise theme merchandise as prizes, all kinds of cruise related events. Some of the bands/artists will be in attendance at their pre-party also. For me personally...this is about THE CRUISE party experience, not so much a New Orleans French Quarters Party bar hopping here & there. They'll let us know where the pre-party will be at once they've arranged final details with a local bar & grill in the FQ area.

The hotel has all the basic ammenties, and also includes in the $129 per room price, a full hot breakfast buffet. :)

Oh gosh no, there were many passing out inaccurate info related to New Orleans and hotels being booked full, etc.. I didn't even know you were one of them, LOL. :)

When I first booked the crusie - I'm a online hotel looker/booker.LOL Alot of them said no ava rooms- BUT that was because they hadn't downloaded next years rates. (I'm a ding dong) Connie and Beckxxy CALLED and rooms are avalible. I think they are working on a group rate at the hampton. I'm pretty sure but ask Connie jo or beckxy. I'm so sorry for any confusion I caused on here I didn't mean to. The hotels shouldn't let you put a date in if they don't have rates yet. I looked at alot of hotels and didn't book them because they said no rooms ava. Including my first and second choice I wanted. My 1st choice was the Hotel Monteleone I should call them up. LOL

I know, that's why I felt bad I couldn't help last week when ya asked. I'm not working right now, feasible jobs are scarce in my location...and will do my best to allieviate the burden on you related to hotel reservations...not to worry, haha. Hell, if I can handle catering & planning many weddings & other events for guests up to 400, related to my former Victorian Gardens & Tearoom...manage historic restoration/renovation projects, general contracting of such...hopefully I can handle group hotel arrangements for many taking the cruise. If not, then y'all can fire me in 2012, lol. Assuming there will be a cruise in 2012 and I'm still around, lol.

Okay then...those of us originally involved behind the scenes with getting together to work with a hotel are in agreement...Beckxy, me, Angie, Arlene, Romeo, etc.. Hampton Inn it is then, and I'll call Sara tomorrow Beckxy, so don't worry about that. I know your burdens related to work are heavy right now...and know what it feels like to be overwhelmed with the real priorities at times. Shoot, I fretted all weekend that I wasn't able to help you last week!...just happy life has settled down for now so I can focus on happier things, such as related to the cruise! Hopefully no more flare ups related to him for at least a couple weeks...that seems to be the average span.

Dear Romeo...Ain't no way in hell I'd sleep at night with a little bro passed out in an alley somewhere in inner New Orleans!! I'll be dragging your ass back to the hotel! True genuine family/friends don't let friends pass out in strange places and leave them behind! LMAO

Thanks Ladies, for all of the leg work you are doing on this...will make the trip better because of it...we will all be together....Hampton sounds good to me...just got to clear it with my roommate ;-)
Keep us posted...

Harry had a difficult time at first last year filling up the required rooms at Marriott, but I think he only posted the info at the cruise website. I ended up helping out by posting info here, which brought in some more bookings.

I didn't think the Triumph had 2700 cabins, rather holds 2700 people...of which includes Carnival staff & crew????

I found out from another cruiser that the Marriot at the Convention Center, and closer to the port is giving a rate of 159 per room if you show them your cruise itinerary. This is corrected from the 350 room rate that we saw online. So, I wondered if anyone was still interested in the Marriot, now that the rate went down lower. Perhaps we could even get a better rate thru group sales. Anyway.. that was just a thought, as I really only did call the

Connie Jo_3's picture

Also, many share the room under one booking to save money...such as we'll have 5...as it stands now sharing our room. We can't count on everyone going on the cruise to book a room for only 2-3 peeps...the more who share a room together, the fewer rooms needed of course.

Connie Jo said:The problem is many are in a panic already booking all over the place, and some are making suggestions to others of multiple hotels, rather than working with one for a group rate. Oh, and those who do want to stay out past midnight after the trolley stops, don't want to pay a cab...well, a mile isn't that far to walk from the hotel to the French Quarter, although definitely wouldn't want to walk alone. Hell, we likely walked two miles to the port from the Marriott in Tampa, haha. I can't imagine the number in miles I walked between airport layovers & transferring to connecting flight gates in Houston & Newark/NYC, as well as then the pre-cruise night, to the port the next day, then on the island, lol.

This is just my suggestion Beckxy, but I think we need to choose one hotel and stick with it, to avoid further confusion and speculation. The Hampton Inn is owned by the Marriott, in case some aren't aware of that. $30 is $30, so if we can continue to work with the Hampton, that's what I personally prefer...and I believe a few people have already booked there, of which we can transfer those reservations over to meet the 50 room quota I would think. The crisis situation I had last week for the time being has settled down, and at this time I don't expect any problems with helping you further. I can completely take over now if you need me to, the last couple of weeks were just really bad timing. I have plenty of time to devote. Also, it's been my past experience when working with making arrangements like this...the fewer involved the better, so as to avoid miscommunication and problems. No more than two people should be contact people related to the hotel directly.

I need to post this info elsewhere, such as at Facebook...before our efforts to obtain a group rate of 129.00 at the Hampton are hindered more with false rumor circulating. I'm irritated obviously, not at you of course, haha...but others. :)

Beckxy has put much time and effort into talking with the Hampton, and people who don't know the facts, nor taken the time we have to check facts...are circulating false facts which will hinder her efforts, and mine... to continue forward with arrangements at the Hampton. :(

Connie Jo said:I think you did, but what rate did they give you?
