Trying to wake some people up and make them think with the help of KR
    Jeff A Jurczyk says (26 Oct '10)

So here is my deal. I live in an uptight community with a bunch of people who think their shit doesn't stink. Id move in a second if I could sell the damn house! My son is in first grade at the public school here and there are way too many PC rules at the school!!! I am trying to figure out which uptight assholes came up and implemented these damn rules?

This week @ my son's school is red ribbon week. The kids are suppose to learn about making healthy choices and take a stance against drugs. Now here is where everything goes wrong. Their definition of drugs is alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. So here is my problem the people who are teaching this are smokers, drinkers, and secret drug users. So the way they at the school chose to celebrate this week is by dressing up in different themes every day to so support their cause. Monday "Drugs are Ridiculous" So dress ridiculous and your hair too. Tuesday is "I Rock Drug Free" dress as a rock star. So here is where I chose to start my battle. I sent my son to school as Kid Rock, with a KR shirt I bought him this summer while I was at the concert. Am I wrong when I think that being a rock star ment living the life of one also? Wednesday is PJ day @ school so not much I can do with that one. Thursday is Dress as a Hero so I need ideas with that one? Maybe Iron Man cause we all know Robert Downey can't stay clean? Finally we come to Friday which is wear Red Day. Dress in Red So I am thinking its the perfect opportunity to send my son to school as the devil!

The finial problem and Why I am trying to cause such a problem is the kids are not allowed to celebrate Halloween @ school and are not allowed to dress up in their costumes either. The reason is not all students because of religion or beliefes celbrate Halloween. Seems funny how they can dress up and b silly for something the school wants to support but not Halloween which has been a holiday since way before I was born!

What does everybody else think out there?

Schools have become too political and forgot about letting kids just be kids. If they are learning on making healthy choices, they should focus on the choices that are open to them...as far as the the other it is giving optional choices, and that might think that as something to consider because that what kids do after they learn and have peer pressure and change there mind. When it comes to the world they are very judgemental. Everyone should have there one choice but these kids are young and impressionable. I can tell you you have a preference. But the thing is- teaching them one thing is also teaching them to be judgemental towaqrds other. They should be told the facts. That there is -this is some of the effects, and if they have more wquestions ask...don't promote it, but don't demean as to other people you automactically label them bad. suoer hero...Superman! This is just one perspective...which I usually don't give... good luck to you.

I agree with Angel and The Bitch!!!!! If you have a problem at the Elementary level, be an adult and a responsible parent. Go to the administrators with your complaints. Keep your child completely out of it! Kids have it rough enough without parents adding challenges!!!! Good luck!!!!!

I was surprised how many teachers got a huge kick out of this today! Guess I need to talk to some of them on the side and get some support with this?

I would take it up with School district and not have the possibility of son paying the penalty...

I think if you want to stir the pot do not use you child as the stir stick!. ll you are doing is making youe child a target. Go to meetings and voice you r opinion nicely . see how many other people feel the same way. if enough people bring it up they may change their ways. Making your child dress as kr and the devil to prove YOUR point is immature.. and singling out your child at the same time, Had the school had an issue with his outfit he would have been sent to the office.. Same with the Devil costume. Get some balls and fight your battle yourself Dont make your kid a pawn.
