    Ok, Since you asked.......
That Guy says (21 Oct '10)

I have had several people ask me if I attended the shows this weekend, and what I thought of them. So, here I find myself in a place I have not looked at nor thought about in a long time. The Kid Rock Community.... I am here to share my story, my thoughts, and my opinions, and if you do not like them, you can suck my dick.

I stumbled on this site a few minutes ago, looked around a bit, and realized I didn't know quite a bit of the posters here. I feel before I turn over my story to each and every one of you, that I should introduce myself to those of you who may not know me. My Name is Kevin, nickname KevRock. I have been a fan of Kid Rock since 1990. Yes, Kid Rock existed back then, before some of you lost your first adult tooth. I have watched in awe as this local artist has expanded his popularity from local celebrity, to Worldwide Superstar. I am also the coolest, baddest, craziest, and most legendary Kid Rock fan of all time. In a 5 year span, I took myself for the ride of my life, flying from coast to coast, doing toast after toast, and just chillen and bangin the most.. I do what I want, I say what I feel, and I always shoot straight from the hip.....

    So, let the story begin.....

Hey Kevin, Hey Kevin, did you go to any of the shows? What did you think? How were the shows? How was the band? How were the openers? Well, here it is, the answer to all the questions..

I have attended more Kid Rock shows then I could even count. If you look at the Tshirts made available this past weekend, I want you to understand, I have attended every show on that T Shirt, and more. I have attended a few this year during the Bon Jovi experience, including Chicago. The Bon Jovi show in Chicago for the first time in quite a while made me crave a Kid Rock show. Not just a Kid Rock show, a Kid Rock Detroit show. Some of you know, some of you do not, but most of you should understand, there truly is no experience quite like a Kid Rock Detroit show experience. I arrived a little later then usual, missed Ty's performance, but was not really there for the opening acts anyways, I spent a minute grabbing a Tshirt, and some brews, but sat down midway through the Blueberry Joke performance. These hilljacks drove me absolutely nuts, from the hillbilly twang in their voice, to their horrible songs. I hated them, and couldn't wait for them to leave the stage. While they sucked balls, they did have one of the coolest merch items. It was creative and funny. I would have bought it if I didn't hear them before I saw it.

Anyways, Fuck them, it was time for Kid Rock and TBT. The lights were dim, and I watched the Band take their places, pyro explodes, and MY NAMMMMMME IT KIDDDDDDDDD. They are opening with fucking bawitiaba!!! Now, for someone like me that has saw so many shows, and can basically perform the show myself if I wanted, I was already knocked back, as Bob and the Crew came to town with business to attend to. The show rocked. It was Kid Rock at his finest, Kid Rock is country, Rock, Rap, he is everything, and that is why he is embraced by millions. The new music definitely shows a different side of Kid Rock, but a Kid Rock show, tells us all that this man is still ready to wreck shop. I payed attention to the new music, its lyrically meaningful, its slower then what I would typically want, but it was not some show stalling garbage. Times Like these, and the video montage brought a tear to my eye, as being a Detroiter, I have watched this city fall to the lowest depths it ever could, and yet still, Bob keeps the spirit of the city alive, in the same way most of the citizens here do. The Band was on point, Rocking out as usual. I could go song by song, I could tell you where Bob messed up, or someone else messed up, but it did not matter, because nobody else woulda noticed, and well, nobody is perfect. I still contend, Kid Rock and The Twisted Brown Trucker Band put on the best live show in the world.

Kid Rock is at his best, when he is being Kid Rock. A little bit of everything. I think its a serious insult to me as a fan when critics claim he is a hack because he raps, or claims he doesnt know where he fits in musically, he fits wherever the fuck he wants to. If I were Kid Rock, every album would sound like Cocky, a mix of everything.

Kev - What is your take on Bob tossing the mic at the end of "Born Free" as the final encore song on Friday? I too have been to many, many shows and I have never seen him just toss the mic and walk off at the end of his shows...Was he pissed?

I liked the Friday night show, but Saturday was a traditional KR show and set list.

He took some chances with the set list on Friday. Again, I liked it, but I didn't get the usual feeling from it...My thought is the encore being "Times Like These" and "Born Free" just don't have the same finale as Bawitdaba does....I know he's been closing it for as long as I've been a fan, but I just love it as the final song. It's like Bawitdaba is the exclamation point at the end of his shows - like "Take that!"

I loved RNRJ with everyone dressed in white with the Samuel L intro.....I loved Bob going up into the lawn and giving some love to the hill. I loved the new "Saturday Night" song. I loved "Times Like These" with the videos.

Now we just have to wait until after the first of the year to check the tour dates...Thanks for your thoughts and your review. Well done.....

Oh, and one more thing.. Yes, i agree, Kid Rock IS at his best when he is being Kid Rock, and listening to his own gut instinct. He would have never become famous in the first place if he would have listened to the so called "professional critics" I hope he continues to not listen to them.

So he opened with Bawitaba, the song that started it all for me..nice!
I have been to no where near as many shows as you have (about eight in a ten year span) but boy can i ever relate to what you are saying about KR and the TBT putting on THE BEST live show in the world!
I have been blown away each and every time i have seen them perform. I have never left a KR show feeling unsatisfied, or unfulfilled (the way i did when i was leaving the madonna show a few years back for example).
"The best natural high in the world" is how i often describe a KR show to people that have never been, and that really is how i feel.
I think it was you that once said in one of your blogs "even when i am a critic i am a fan" Thank you for helping me express myself, because that is exactly how i feel.
There is no doubt that i will be a KR/TBT fan for the rest of my life, i think its pretty safe to say, those lucky sons of guns are stuck with me for the duration!
Thank you for taking the time to post :-)
