Court, I love the dark hair, but I'm sure I would've loved the pink too!...I too have always dyed my hair, since I am now 36, I guess I started 20 years ago (sheesh - 20 yrs ago is kind of hard to say out loud - when in the hell did that happen) anyway, I started getting gray hair, and I mean alot of it! So getting older/gray hair doesn't phase me - b/c it's been like that since I was 16...For the most part I used to keep to different shades of brown, but it gets boring - so I mix it up with color, I've had everything from blonde highlights to dark purple highlights, to recently bright fuschia strips throughout - and I love it all! For me, it all works its way back eventually. But I feel you on trying to cover it up - the pink has been especially hard to get rid of...Be careful with the bleach though, no matter what color you go with, you want to make sure it stays good and healthy - wigs are fun to change things up a bit, but maybe not as fun if you have no other choice!
there is a hairspray by treseme (not spelled right lol) and it holds good! i used it when i had my emo hair cut and its like super aqua net lol! when water hits it....it turns to cement and treds water so its impossible to get out lol!
my mom still has the 80's hair lol and i rock it too ever now and then lol! its coming back!
For Tangie-"Anyone else wanna share some 'back in the day' pic's? lol"
1984-Ok, my hair wasn't really that "big" The wind was blowing!
1987- I had lots of long straight hair and wore it poofy on the top!
tangie, they still make it lol i buy it by the case haha!
lol lisa! i figured i'd show my dark depressing side lol!!
connie i think im american indian lol not too sure, i have the thick corse indian hair, and lisa i have always had dark hair...thats why i try to go lighter lol, i started out as a cotton top then by the time i was three it was brown and then over the years its gone to a very dark brown and eventual my natural color will be black and unchangeable lol!
omg tangie lmao now i feel so old now those big hair days geez louise
Tangie, I'd be happy to share some '80's photos with ya all! I don't have any on this computer so i'll have to find some, scan & post...so coming soon! P.S. My hair wasn't as big as yours! Lol!
Don't worry too much! You'll be okay, Courtster! My advice- Yes, go to a professional, they will fix it! Well worth the money! And may I suggest, you do consider going darker. Here in California, in the fall, most women go darker for our ("none existing") winter months! Lol! As for me, as you can see, my hair is already dark, but I do go one shade darker in late fall! If you are up to it, post a pix of before & after....I'm sure we'd all love to see it!
Oh, and in case you're wondering, haha...I have relatives in the hair chemical industry and a couple who are beauticians, so that's how I hear the stuff I know about.
Well, they have products of which are called color strippers, and though it is a bleach based product, has other chemicals to help remove color. It might have worked better than straight bleaching. I wouldn't recommend using it now though, as it's even harder on hair than bleach can be, and to do it on top of what you've alread done would likely be disaster, haha.
I know it's fun to try different looks with ones hair, and it's all looked very cute on you, but sweetie...in the long run it's not gonna be worth it. What Bernetta said above is also true...everyone's hair is different, not the same texture, thickness, etc...and each will take chemicals differently too, react different.
I think the deep burgandy with black underneath sounds like the perfect choice right now for you. Once you do it...buy some deep conditioners and use them often to try to undo any hidden damage from all your hair has been through the last year. Let it rest and heal for a while before trying something new again, lol.
Are you American Indian or Mideast Indian? I have American Indian blood, and although my hair isn't as course as a fullblooded Indian, mine is coarser in texture than many. My texture is an ideal one for me, feels soft yet holds curl well, etc.. I do use Preferrence by Loreal color about once every 6 wks or so, but I stick with my natural color...which is a brownish auburn. I was a natural blonde up until my 20's and after I started having kids, my hair began to darken to a brown, and kept getting darker over the years. I did highlight it blonde through my late 40's, but got over doing that in about a year or so. I have very little graying, in fact my daughter has more graying than I do, haha...but I have a bit around my forehead and ears, so that's why I color. My hair absorbs & holds color well too.
i used a bleach connie cause when i had it cherry red the stripper wouldnt bring the color out lol, were working on darkening it up....ive come to the conclusiont hat Indeians just arnt ment to have light hair lol, so its gonna be deep burgandy with black underneath so maybe it will look good
Courtster, even though a color says semi permanent if you apply it to porus hair it will grab onto your hair just like permanent color and will stay there just as long. When you go to the salon you will probbably need to go darker not much but enough to cover all the different colors to even it out, and then maybe some foil hilites or something if you want more dimension to it,I would suggest a redkin shades if the salon uses this brand,I have been liscenced for 25 years and love hair coloring, but good luck today and i hope ya get the color you wish for .
you must go to a professional. They will fix your hair. I would consider this an emergency! LOL
My suggestion would be...you're gonna have to go darker to cover up the pink. Did you use bleach or what's called a hair color stripper?
Courster sweetie...you're so cute, and so young. When you're young you feel invincible, and it's difficult to imagine, or foresee what will take it's toll on your body later from making those invincible choices when young. What these gals have all told you is the serious gospel truth...you are damaging your hair, and it will cause you to go bald, or at the very least you will have short broken random splotches of hair on your scalp. This may not be 'that' far out in years either...possibly as early as your 20's with the rate at which you change your hair color so frequently. It may not seem to you that you do it that often, but you do considering the risk factor of damage.
Besides changing your color, products such as gels, mousse, hair spray...also damage hair if used often, as they clog the scalp & hair folicles. Additonally, blow drying, shamooing daily...regardless of a shampoo stating it can be used daily...shampooing strips the hair of natural oils it needs to remain healthy. If you consider the changing of color you do often, it's weakening your strands as it is, and then if you do any of the other factors that damage hair...you're damaging your hair even more than you might think, and more than the average person too. I can't imagine your being content later on with little to no hair, and wigs aren't nearly as desireable as ones own hair.
People compliment me on my hair every where I go without fail. It is healthy, below my waist, not a split end to be found, and I'm 53 yrs old, haha. It's about the only part of my body that's in as good of shape as when I was younger, lol. I didn't bleach or color my hair when young, and I've never been one to blow dry...let my hair dry naturally. I also don't use gels, mousse's, or spray...with exception of once in a while if in the mood to style my bangs different, then will spray my bangs only. I'm fortunate that I don't have oily hair, so only shampoo twice weekly, unless I've been working out
angelique i would love to have my hair done by a pro but i cant afford it, hell i even have to cut my own hair most of the time, im poor lol i cant afford to e pampered by pro's lol! we went to walmart and got a hair dye but i tryed to tell mom that i needed two bottles of it cause my hair is long and thick but she knows everything and insisted one would be enough and guess what...IT WAS NOT ENOUGH!!! so now i have a deep burgandy on top of my head and from like eye level down is a ashy brown so miss know it all doesnt know a damn thing! oh well i can fix it! its better than it was before so its ok lol
Seriously Court, get your hair fixed to the color you want and keep that way for a long time, not just 3 to 6 months. I'm talking a few years.
And in my opinion, wigs really don't do justice unless you have the money to buy the good quality ones, and they are expensive.
i don't dye my have dyed my hair. i have washed the gray away, maybe 5 times in my life dayum, sry girl i tell me kids well i told u not to do it ,cuzs ur hair to get real messed up when u get older..... dark picture though
go to a pro get fixed then NO MORE BLEACH that is true my freinds hair broke off in the sink
i dont bleach that offen but when ya got pink hair there aint that many ways to get rid of it lol, im going in a few to get sme dye to cover the yeller/blonde/white/pink color lol
lol ill buy a wig haha! the way i look at it is...im gonna be bald eventualy so why not enjoy my hair while i got it and enjoy iy by dying it! i bleached it and it left it healthier lookin and feelin than it did before lol!
if you dont stop your hair will get brittle and start breaking off.
an hour of bleach is way too long.
trust me.. my mom sister cousins are all hair dressers.... ive seen it happen many many times.
yep...............predicts you'll be bald by the time you're 30
