Now get in the pit and try to love someone.
I am writing this letter not only as a fan of Kid Rock aka Bob Ritchie, I am writing this letter as a father, a friend, a son, and most importantly, an American.
Kid Rock is portrayed all kinds of different ways, in the National Media, I am sure you have had a glimpse of the Kid Rock that is punching photographers, Punching douche bag Rock Stars, Strip Club DJ's, or guys in Waffle Houses. He is portrayed as this Rebel without a cause, or Devil if you prefer. However, being here in Michigan, sometimes we get a little different side of the story of who is Kid Rock. The Man who helps out Girl Scouts, Golf Teams, and sick children. A man so dedicated to the troops serving this country that he has spent quite a few Holidays in the midst of War, entertaining, shaking hands, and generally putting a smile on the faces of some men and women who do not get much time to smile. Yes, Kid Rock is not just a foul mouthed, sucker punching, asshole like some try to say he is.
While I read his posting on his website, for the first time in a long time I could see the passion and raw Emotion that mad thios man a household name. As someone who has been around since the very beginning, someone who may not have always agreed with Kid Rock, may not have been fond of all his changes musically, Kid Rock as a man, has grown and changed quite a bit for the positive. I believe you, Judge Wong may have said it all when you stated "The Defendant clearly made this trip in the past, and would do so even if not under an order to perform community service" Yes, Bob Ritchie would absolutely make this trip, with or without your order Judge Wong. Kid Rock takes it to heart, takes it very serious, and loves what he does for these men and women who make it possible for all of us to live the way we do. Have you thanked someone in the Military for making it possible for you to decide the fate of so many people?
HOWEVER JUDGE WONG, The Next Statement you made pissed me off, and is the reason I am writing this letter.
"Besides, giving him credit for something he would otherwise love to do in front of a Camera"
I am not even going to continue with the quote, because honestly, it makes me sick to my stomach. You are someone who represents the People of your District, the people of your City, the people of your State, and most important, the people of your of the United States of America. You have made a big mistake in choosing your words, a mistake that I feel should be brought to light by the Media, by the Armed forces, by Kid Rock himself, and yes by all the American People who are offended by this uneducated and quite frankly STUPID COMMENT. To even remotely suggest Kid Rock does this for Camera time, is not only offensive to me, Millions of Fans, or even Kid Rock himself, it is offensive to the men and women he spends his time with over there, its offensive to any one of SHORT LIST of Entertainers who go over there to spend time with these men and women, and it should be offensive to ALL AMERICANS. You see Judge Wong, not many people see the Camera Footage of Kid Rock entertaining the troops unless they look for it. It's not force fed down their throats like say for instance him punching a man who was harassing a woman in a Waffle House. Its not force fed down our throats like say for instance him punching a man who has taunted him for years. No, the Camera Footage of these trips is rarely aired on CNN, or any of the major news networks, and you know what? Kid Rock is fine with that.. Just like the aforementioned acts of Kindness (Girl Scouts, Gold Teams, Sick Children) Kid Rock does not do it for publicity, he does not walk around tooting his own horn for making these trips, or doing these kind things, he does it from the heart. Unlike you Judge Wong, who probably would prefer some sort of embarrassing footage of Kid Rock performing some stupid, insignificant form of Community Service, probably sitting in front of a TV hoping to hear your name mentioned. I know this letter will not change your mind, but I could only hope it is one of millions, I can only hope that the Same American's who vote you into your Job, are as offended as I, and remove you from your Job. You are just another example of a Judge trying to make his name off of a celebrity put in front of him.

with the bad economic state Georgia is the judge should allow him to do a concert and all the money go to the state to help bail them out---oh and i would love it cause i would buy a ticket to the concert ---it would be a win win for all involved
wondering if the judge is planning to retire....since after all the media hype on this incident...he doesn't have an ice cube's chance in hell of getting re-elected...
Kev, very well written and you only put a dent in what all Kid Rock has done in MI (but I hear ya as to what you were going for there) as far as community and charitable acts... the $ he offerd up to finish a waterpark, the Wayne State scholarship fund ... the list goes on and on.
I agree with Chick! I think the judge did the right thing. Kid does do this yearly and would be doing it regardless. Put the man to work and do some community service, maybe then he will think again before he punch's some one.
I agree with the judge that the USO should not be considered part of his community service. The trip wasn't planned for that purpose. It was already in the works.
Yes, the judge was wrong for insinuating he was doing it for publicity. But that, in itself, is irrelevant. Also, documentation of time being served over there would be difficult without a court approved process.
I feel the judge isn't saying that doing things for/with the troops are not considered community service, I feel he's saying that for THIS case, it can not be counted because it was already decided he was going to go. And I'm going to go even further by saying that in THIS CASE and the punishment that was layed out to him, the troops are NOT the issue. The troops are not being bashed by the judge. Most likely, whats going on is the judge veiws this as KR trying to use something that he was going do anyway, to get out of doing the time. Which in my opinion is a brilliant move. But the judge didn't go for it...lol
See, this is where you people who have never experienced anything like this, spout off and say things that just are not true..You see, when I got community service, I was volunteering at my daughters school. I was meeting with kids after school and helping them and lending myself as a mentor. I asked if I could use such time as my community service, and sure enough, it was allowed.
I have heard many cases similar to mine, and similar to what Kid Rock asked. Just like the guys in the other blog stated. He takes his kids every year to pass out food to the homelsss. Blah blah blah,. if he got community service, blah blah blah..
Yes, that homo could absolutely use this for his community service...
Now, to top all of this off, you are wrong on one more front. Kid scheduled the USO trip AFTER the community service was issued..
And finally, I also believe he got anger management, to answer another post...
KidRockAngel wroteThat doesnt fly with me for this reason. My brother was given 800 hours of community service. He explained to the judge that he sets up chairs and band equipment etc for his church and performs traffic detail on sundays, 4 services, approx 7 hours a week. He also volunteers at local food bank 5 hrs a week. He did all this before sentencing and the judge had no problem allowing these volunteer hours to be counted for his community service. What difference does it make if it was planned or not. ITS STILL SERVING YOUR FELLOW MAN and if anything the fact that he already does it should be a benefit not a detraction
I see your point but that is local community service. Like I said, documentation of time would be difficult.
And I know you all are flooding the judge with letters and so on. But, the contact info has been posted on other non kid rock sites. And they feel totally opposite of the way you all do. They all feel he's being a cry baby. And they have been saying they are contacting the judge, voiceing thier support...lol
Also, if Kid Rocks site was the one that posted the contact info....that wasn't very smart.
In my opinion there shouldn't be a community service...a fine is sufficient, even anger management, who the hell wants to sit through that?
Your responses touch me for Bob, he is lucky to be perceived as he is by his fan base.
Once again Kev. Another job well done and Happy Birthday!
U guys should see the comments of the others claiming to be fans on the blog KR wrote .. I finnally was able to post on there after 24 hours.. They just don't see things the way we do! I agree that you should be punished for wrongs but I just don't see the problem here.. I hope that Judges phone and email get flooded. I hate arrogant Judges that for this bullshit thing will demand that of KR and Let our children go with out Child Support and keep giving other scum bags chance after chance keep that drama going on and on. Over stepping there bounds of the position when they were elected to up hold Justice.. If "John Smith" were convited of the same crime what do you supose the Punishment would have been Maybe the night he spent on Jail and ?? Restitution?? It is all Crap and i am in a bad mood so I should stop now before i get accused of being a truck driver!!! thanks for listening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I like the way you think Kevin.. Nice job!
Connie, I sent mine both ways!! ;)
right on.thanks for the insight to the real Kid Rock, many folks still don't get how real of a person he has remained despite his fame.he is the real deal.peace
Did y'all snail mail your letters or email? Hell, think I'll just do both. :)
Okay then, I'll send my letter now...just felt better having you read it first Kevin. Sometimes others opinions can bring needed improvement, correct errors...I might not note. :)
I just hope & pray the judge will reconsider, though I have my doubts...more judges are arrogant assholes than not. :(
Well said Kev. pass a paition around ..Promise I can spell my name wright,,That Judge is wack..If anyone thinks Kid see's our troops for anthing other than give'n a big THANKS.....Wong...You are WRONG!!
Nice, Connie
To The Honorable Judge Alvin T. Wong,
As a strong supporter of our brave Troops, the case involving Mr. Robert Ritchie, aka Kid Rock...caught my attention. I understand your belief that Mr. Ritchie could possibly benefit from a celebrity status point of view, and/or personally from his planned trip to Iraq, as many celebrities would take advantage of such for publicity purposes. However, judging from reading your words on the court order you issued denying Mr. Ritchies request, it is my assumption that you must not be fully aware of who Mr. Ritchie is in his heart, nor his true motives.
I know factually, that the intended purpose of Mr. Ritchies trips to Iraq have been solely to boost Troop morale at a time needed most...Christmas. This is the time a Soldiers spirit is at its lowest, missing home and loved ones with deeply aching hearts.
All one has to do to realize this fact is to note the genuine heartfelt commentaries by Soldiers of whom were, and continue to be grateful to Mr. Ritchie for his unconditional support of our brave Soldiers, not only at Christmastime, but throughout the year. Mr. Ritchie has also hosted unpublicized events at his private home entertaining Troops as another show of support and appreciation for their sacrifices related to Freedom for all...including you and me. In the past, some of our highest military leaders have endorsed Mr. Ritchies efforts as being that of genuine and unconditional support.
Yes, Kidrock has visited Iraq, typically at his own expense, to boost Troop morale in Iraq for the last three Christmas', this year to be his fourth visit. Those trips are rarely publicized, or noted by mainstream media. Nor does Kid Rock publicly seek attention for such. Ironically, many similar entertainers publicly and habitually criticize our Troops efforts in their sacrificial fight for Freedom, for the publicity without a doubt. Nor have many such celebrities made any attempt whatsoever comparible to that of Mr. R

No shit? LOL...yeah, but I still have to be accountable for my actions if they backfire on someone else, encouraged to do so for a good cause or not, haha. :)
Okay Kevin, I'm gonna post my letter below...I'm asking for it, so please critique if you feel the need. :)
I figure Bob put his contact info out there for a reason. HINT HINT
Great letters y'all. I think the unity & loyalty around here at times is great, & a rarity these days.
Personally, I'm still debating whether to write the Judge or not. I began seriously considering it yesterday after reading Kids post. It appears the judge may be just a wee bit narcisstic...aka having 'little man power control disease'. Considering that, & the position he unfortunately holds as a judge with power/control over Kid related to this circumstance...I have concerns approaching him as a fan defending Kid Rock could backfire for Kid.
hmmmmm???
Awesome Job!!!!
Below is the letter i wrote to the Judge. I Love KR and have offered my own time to Dekalb county. I hate our Judicial System it is so one sided. And I always seem to get stuck on the wrong side!!!!! I can not post on the other site either WTH? Keep your head up we all got ur back..
Judge Alvin T Wong,
I am writing you to let you know that I being born in Georgia and having lots of family and friends there I believe you have made a very alarming unnecessary statement. On September 30 you signed an order in case against Robert Ritchie that stated" Besides. giving him credit for something he would do otherwise love to do in front of the camera".
It is grossly obvious that you think that Robert "Bob" is a "Celebrity" and would do anything for the Camera! I do understand your reasoning for the order and agree with the logic. I do not believe that the quote that you added was proper.
However, there are many circumstances that you may not be aware of . Bob has done a lot for not only his fans but many others and has entertained the Troops on his own accord many times and not for "FAME" but because it was something he could do to help others. This is the best way he knows to give of himself.
This is why he and others are outraged. People Love him and he gives what he knows how to thru his music and believe me I have seen the results for my self.
I personally had four young men fresh from there 2nd tour in Iraq as part of there duty state side and under my watch for 3 weeks. The first day they came to work they saw a picture of Kid Rock, Myself and my two Children. They asked me if he were my Husband and I looked at them in complete dismay and said no but I wish he were! They continued on and said the reason they were asking was because they wanted to express there gratitude for what he had done for them Last year in Iraq. One of them was close to tears. This alone has touched me.( That was a great compliment to me since he was only Married once t
You said it very well! I am an Army brat and I have alot of friends in the Army and other branches of service. They are going through what words can't even say and Kid Rock will go entertain the troops! I will stand behind him all the way too! He raised close to $20,000 for the Dekalb Homeless Shelter that helps families get on their feet. His community service was way more than served by that. 80 hours of community service/$20,000 to help those people. This judge is an embarassment. Kid Rock is bringing back the "FEEL" in the music and he "FEELS WHAT THE TROOPS ARE GOING THROUGH." Let him go as an American Citizen and support our troops. Also thank you Kid Rock for letting everyone know instead of helping this judge more by keeping it hidden. It is a positive message that you are trying to send to the troops and I applaud your efforts in every way!
Kev.... you articulate so well. This was so well put. Awesome job, as always!
I truly enjoyed your commentary Kevin, very well stated. I grew up in the Texas, where chivalry is not dead. There is respect for men who stand up for their beliefs and women. Mr. Ritchie's Waffle House "experience" many not have been the best decision ever but it was the right one, and only gained respect for being willing to defend a woman, even if the cost was a negative PR situation.
My interest was piqued that Judge Wong felt that this was not "contributing" to his community... Is absolutely zero constituents from that area not in the military? My brother-in-law has served two tours overseas. I guarantee that Xmas time is the hardest. You lose those days, those memories with your family. It really brings it home. Uplifting their spirits isn't contributing to those serving? In essence, by lifting their spirits, bringing some of home to them, doesn't it benefit our serving military as whole as far as morale goes? Ironically, in essence, his service through the USO overseas doesn't just affect Judge Wong's constituents, but also many court systems constituents? Would picking up trash for that 80 hours be of more service to his county,or would Mr. Ritchie being overseas for that 80 hours? Hmmm... Ridiculous question. Yes, Mr. Ritchie has attended USO, but isn't the payout to community service better spent for national military morale? For instance, San Antonio, Ft. Hood, etc are large military installment areas. I am sure that there is a spousal support system. Contacting the many groups, who have family members abroad via cc message, would possibly evoke addressed support to having Mr. Ritchie entertain with the USO. Mr. Wong will look like an immense ass as far as most would be concerned when he has military wives submitting from everywhere saying are you serious?????? Anyways... much ado. H
AMEN KEV
VERY well said. NICE!
WOW !!!!! WELL SAID !!!!!
