My heart breaks and bleeds...I'm at a loss for words. Thoughts and Prayers for Our Fellow Villagers in Oklahoma.
OK lets see what you all think here. This was brought up in my Psychology class and there were mixed feelings on it. I now see where they are saying that if they banned fast food tv commercials that it would reduce childhood obesity.
So what do you think? Is fast food the reason for all the over weight people in the world?

HAHAHAHA
no its about control. every thing starts at home. we teach our children how to walk talk read behave pray ect. it starts with home.
Just wait until the economy gets so bad we can't afford their food anymore~and have to grow our own~OMG~ imagine eating fresh vegetables (or canned by you) and your own meats raised right in your backyard~all free from the diseased shit offered to you by these grease pits~ what in the hell are you gonna do then???
Well, hopefully you have learned some skills that help you survive~ if not how bout just practicing for a while!? Is it child abuse to encourage your child to get off their ass and throw a few rocks or "hill" a tater patch...pick a few berries, feed the animals ....learn to APPRECIATE something~especially nature! then fuckin cuff me now and my Daddy and his Daddy too! Fuck no it isn't!!
It is just easier to drive up to that window~ say give me some high cholesterol and some thunder thighs~and I am gonna Milkshake my ass home. And next thing ya know you are in the hospital cuz someone poisoned your grease!! On a list of meds longer than Santa's Naughty list~for the rest of your life!!!
Yea ~ it's your own damn fault~ if you fall victim to something within your control~ bottom line!! I am guilty of it as well...I smoke ...but I also get outside and work in the garden of life and beauty and for the most part~live off the land.....so I must be balancin it all out~ pretty good physical health except for scars and metal from my own mistakes~but no clogged arteries!!
I think we should take responsibility for our eating, drinking and any other non essentials. We have a brain, we know what is right or wrong, so why would you blame it on any one industry or person...that's just stupid.
Enjoy yourself and indulge in moderation. Take time to make lunches or stress nutrition to your kids. I honestly don't want to hear you don't have time, because all the time you spend in line and driving to the fast food places could be used to prepare meals. Do them in advance. I work 10-12 hour shifts and always have managed to make or prep dinners/lunches daily and breakfast on weekends if we desire. It just takes time management and a desire to do it. I couldn't stand giving up a good portion of my paycheck to pay for crappy food....just me and my 2 cents.
The only time I eat fast food is on a road trip, I honestly don't even care for it, I'd rather have something home cooked or a protein bar.
The only reason that drug companies get sued and should be responsible is because of the claims they make regarding their product. This would be an exception to the rule because they are prescribed and I nor is anyone else looking to solve one problem and create a bunch of others, including the ultimate = death.
If they are going to blame fast food for obesity, then they have opened up a huge whole that will have alcoholics or victims suing beverage companies and so on.
I agree that is the responsibility of the parent with regard to kids. As for adults, take responsibility for your actions! No one makes someone drive thru the fast food places..."turn here or I'll break you arm..." yea right. I was a working mom and going out was always a treat, once a month. Both my parents worked and going out was probably every few months. I do think that ads do target kids. My grand kids could say and recognize McDonalds before almost anything else due to what they saw on TV (their mom didn't help much though). Check out Sat. morning cartoons. I don't think it is the responsibility of the restaurants. I get so tired of hearing people say, it's not my fault! Bull.
no i dont think so that is just dumb it are desision but i know some people have actually won those cases
Asw a parent u r responsible for ur children not the fast food industry. I worked everyday and fast food was a treat not a daily occurrence., I cooked 340 days out of the year. Another problem is lack of activity computers and video games are the main past time for 50% of American children. Many children live off frozen food with use of microwaves many chilren fend for themselves because the parents are busy working. parents think that just because there kids are 12-14 yo they can take care of themselves thats when ur children need u around the most. It doesnt take much to prepare healthy snacks for ur children. Eating right becomes a lifestyle and after awahile ur child doesnt really care for that fast food.
This was on the news earlier...
Just my thoughts...
It is the parent's responsibility to insure the children are healthy.
Children always want a lot of crap.
That does not mean I have to give it to them
Oh yea you can say that...but still..why is it their duty to do that?
I mean..this is what we offer...if you cant be responsible enough to eat this sparingly or you are too dumb to be influenced by our marketing...have at it
I think if the world was health conscious as a whole, theyd have to change their menu...but were not!
I really can't say I blame them for it, but maybe they should be made accountable to make the food healthier, whole grain rolls and leaner meats, more of a variety of healthier things, hell even the salads are over 1000 calories.
i saw a show that showed many going INTO kindergarten overweight! WTF??!

I think they do target too much to children...but that being said...parents have a responsibility not to buy that crap for their kids.
This world has thrown away any form of personal responsibility & accountability... its fucking bullshit!
Im so sick of hearing this made me do it, too much sugar made me do it. etc etc etc
Too many people want to blame someone, something, anything for their problems, habits, missteps. I think its a horrible lesson to teach our children that everything has an excuse. You can blame anything for what youve done, nothing is YOUR fault
I call BS
absofuckinglutely!!!
This is one of those subjects that infuriate me. Grrr
I would say more then half the kids coming out of schools these days are atleast 20 lbs over weight. I'm talking elementary schools!! Their parents need a good ass beating.
I don't know. I mean I grew up that fast food was more like a treat once every couple of months. Both of my parents worked, with my dad out to sea a lot and my mom working....we managed not to have fast food that often. It can be done.
But my view is, people do not have to go to a fast food place. It's a choice, they're not being forced. Just say no. Sure they could try to ban these commercials to see how things turn out though.
They offer veggie & dip for an option at my sons school...he always picks it!
*Proudly grinning!*
I agree with the marketing to children is bad concept, the kids get addicted to the fast food without realizing it...lots of school systems are still serving fries and hamburgers. Mostly, though, it's about the convenience. Drive in and out....food. Done.
More effort to plan and cook dinners at home, especially if the kids are on the road to sports, dance/gym, and ortho appts after school.
