Agencies in Detroit have been working hard to produce a campaign to encourage young and creative people to consider the city as a place to live and work. The project 'Selling Detroit' is an upfront and intent way to help Detroit attract business and talent.

This initiative, sponsored by the Time Inc. unit of Time Warner involves advertising agencies: Essence, Fortune, Money, Sports Illustrated, Time and related Web sites to develop campaigns in the Detroit area. Visitors of their websites will be able to vote on this contest for their favorite campaign starting Monday.

Other agencies taking part in the contest are the Troy office of Leo Burnett, part of the Publicis Groupe, with a campaign starring a local celebrity and Kid Rock!

One of the great guys I've ever met was a black dude from Detroit. His name is Greg May and he is chucklechuckle a rye-chess guy. Greg told me he had a record contract with Motown before his better living via Peru kinda let him. I have a funny feeling he is there and involved in this deal kid. If he is not you might want to look him up. Last time I saw him we were having some bar-b-que our friend Charles brought over as a going away present for me just off Hollywood Blvd on Fuller...right there where Eddie drove by in his Lamborgini...or Lambergeine however it is spelled. Anyway, I have a little country band in Portland Oregon named Tex Velvet. My name is Mike Cross and I would like to offer my assistance in anyway I can. Cactus is really excited about this also. Pappy Spain will be helping from where he is. I am not sure if you would be interested in what I am proposing but send me a line and I truly beleive we can help Detroit.

A huge component of this awesome state that remains neglected lies within minutes of downtown via shuttle or other methods are the state parks and natural resources! Tourism must be reemphasized to the business class that visit this area. Outdoor fitness, biking, hiking and boating are renewable resources that require little maintenance, yet even the locals aren't aware of what is in their own back yards! Tourism baby, tourism!

Hey Bob! I'm the Director of Sales & Marketing for a minority owned office supply company in the Detroit area that has been mentoring a minority owned Music Post. This is a group of late 20's guys who are very talented, professional musicians. They recently spoke to me about starting a grant or scholorship program to help underprivalged high school students in the Detroit area get a college education in the music industry through Musical Engineering and other similar programs. If you have any suggestions as to how they can help with this new initiative you have with "Sell Detroit" I'm sure they'd be all ears. They all grew up in Southeast Michigan and really want to give back to the local communitites which have supported their success and growth. Their name is ALP Music out of Livonia, MI. They can be found on the web at www.alpmusic.com. In fact, I believe their Engineer was spinning at a recent private event at Greektown in which you were in attendance. Take care...Rebecca B

Kid, that means no more taping in Nashville!! As much as I love you I couldn't beleive you hauled your custom made boat from Holland all the way to Nashville to film the summertime video, why not Torch Lake? Houghton Lake, Lake Michigan? I know there must have been a good reason why you went there instead of them coming to us. We were at work taking bets on which lake it was only to see you in an interview saying it was filmed in Nashville. I didn't get it but Love You anyway. Way to help Michigan with the Bad Ass beer!! Hey I am getting ready to retire, I need a job, I can promote Michigan. Make Detroit Rock!
