I was really glad to get this email about the Kid Rock Fan Community.I think it is a great idea for fans of Kid Rock to talk with each other. While many of his fans are there for the music and the party there is another aspect of Kid Rock that truly makes him very special. And that is the deep respect he has for the American Soldier. I was serving in Baghdad during Christmas of 2006 and was assigned as Kid Rocks escort. (Hopefully he remembers me... I was the one on Christmas during his last stop at Camp Liberty where I took the pictures of all soldiers with their cameras that posed with him). A lot of people think we, the military, are the heroes because we wear the uniform and when called to serve overseas do just that without question. But that is our job. However, I just wanted to say that I think Kid Rock is the true Hero. The fact that he has given up his Christmas Holidays with his family for the last couple of years to spend it with us in Iraq makes him someone special to those of us that serve. I honestly wonder if hell ever know how much that means to us. If our paths ever cross again, it will be true honor for me. I wish him all the best and I simply wanted to say thank you!
Love the Kid...But he's lucky to get to meet AMERICA"S Best...Don't ever think America does not appreciate what y'all do over there...Freedoms not FREE...Stay Safe ....
To Brenda, Rudy,Detroitrocker, BJ, THDutchess76 and Angel,
Thank you for your kind responses. I truly appreciate it. Kid Rock's time spent in Iraq did touch so many. One distinct memory I have is when we were at the last stop at Camp Liberty and he was clearly very tired. The crowd was large and getting a bit out of control. This guy from the USO got on the loud speaker and told the crowd if they didnt move back they were going to have to end the meet and greet. He went on to say that only two people in the room could end it and it was him and Kid Rock. Kid Rock leans over to me and says Im not ending this. Ive come to see these Soldiers as much as they have come to see me. It just shows you what a class act he is. He stayed as long as it took to ensure everyone in that gym got their picture taken with him which took a couple of hours. That was on Christmas day 2006.
