The 2009 Pistons Care Telethon, which culminated in a 17-hour telethon day and telecast of the teams game on March 11, raised more than $450,000 in pledges to benefit Feed The Children (FTC), with 100% of proceeds going to families in critical need of food and basic necessities throughout the state of Michigan.

The pledge total will allow FTC to help sustain 25,000 families with food and personal care items. The truckloads will begin with truck deliveries to Detroit Rescue Mission, Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit, ChildHelp USA in Southfield, the Macomb Food Program in Mt. Clemens, Orchards Childrens Services in Flint, Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Saginaw and the Salvation Army in Jackson and others through December 2009. For more information about FTC, please visit www.feedthechildren.org.

Entertainers including Jimmy Buffett, Bob Seger, Kid Rock, Eminem, Billy Joel & Elton John, Jay Leno, Big & Rich, Anita Baker, Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago all supported the event.

I love 2 hear about people's lives being changed. Those in desperate need of help and the Piston's devoting thier time is awesome. I hate that so many are going hungry. My childern are used to coming home and eating what they want. If they don't like what we have then I tell them there are people starving so eat.

That is such an awesome thing. Now, what is very coincidental there, is that their telethon to raise that money was on March 11, as the article stated, and if you remember, March 11 of last year is when you went to Duluth, GA and you helped out that homeless shelter raise money for people to get back on their feet. Isn't that a coincidence that it happened on the same day just one year later? I think you are supporting a great cause and once again you make us proud to support you and the things you do in your life! Keep it going! Love, Chasity in St. Louis, MO
