I am a man of my word. Due to a breach of contract we will not be performing at the Cattle Baron's ball this Saturday, October 29th.

@DENISE "Just ignore me or give it right back. It's all good!" I like your attitude! All good here as well....just pissed at this whole situation. Peace.

I don't CARE who anyone is on here. I am NOT HERE for a "popularity" contest! I am sorry if I offend, I just have my own opinions and am at a stage in my life that I WILL say what I want and will take what comes my way. Have my own experiences in life and I share with others my opinions in how I see it . Guess I should LEAVE names out of the rants. (my bad!) Just ignore me or give it right back. It's all good! Dialogue is what is needed to get things done around here. If we don't know then how do we know how to deal with these issues. EVERYONE HERE has SOMETHING VALUABLE to put on the table. Again, sorry if I offended. (It's my momma comin' out of me!!)

@ Sherry Rosenkranz: I , too, am a survivor. And so is my husband. But I have this to say to you about your "survival" and the ACS being part of that. Congratulations! They were a "helpful" resource when my husband was diagnosed with Acute Promylocytic Leukemia, paying for parking, gas/fuel to Dr. visits, etc...but NOT HAVING INSURANCE (self employed) they did NOT KEEP HIM ALIVE. His Dr.s DID THAT along with his faith and strong will to live and the MEDICINES that we PAID CASH FOR. Now when I was diagnosed in 2001 with Breast Cancer (1st time) the ACS and the Susan G. Komen BCS DENIED me ANY SORT of assistance because I was not the "bread winner" of the family. But I STILL SUPPORT them and DONATE every chance I get. My second "go round" with BC (still NO INSURANCE) has been supplemented by a law passed in Georgia for "women with breast cancer/cervical cancer" to receive financial assistance thru Medicaid for my medical needs. NOT from the ACS or Susan G. Komen. And so, with your idealism that "they saved your life" I am inclined to think that MAYBE , just maybe, YOU SAVED your own life with STRONG WILL, DETERMINATION and SUPPORT from others. People on here, sayin that the "fans" are standing up for Kid Rock ONLY because they are blindsided to everything else other than what Kid Rock says is not fair. Let's NOT SUPPORT RUMORS, wait for the FACTS. I am sure that when "appropriate" the details will surface. God Bless you and your health. These words are just "my" facts as I have experienced them.

The only KR show I can remember the he canceled was a festival show with lots of other acts in Europe a couple of years ago. I forget the actual details, but it seems like the band was treated like crap - KR complained - nothing was done - and KR walked off. (all the details came out long after the show - and I don't think he was sued for "Breach of Contract") I know he takes pride in his work ethic and reliability - and he should - he plays many shows per year! There must be something really wrong for him to cancel. My guess would be that he makes it up in his donations to ACS at the end of his small club tour. Sorry to those that aren't going to get to see him play live. I'm sure he's just as upset - especially since it's in Detroit and for a great cause. Who knows - maybe cooler heads will prevail and they will get it straightened out. Now they know he's not BSing anyone about cancelling the show!

@DENISE...It has just been announced that I can get my money back. However I am choosing to still attend the even and give my money to the ACS. You can't judge me. You don't know all the money and time I give to ACS and other charities. For you to rant like that is a joke and pretty sad if you knew who I was.
Barb's picture

I've been volunteering for the American Cancer Society and attending Cattle Baron's Ball for many years and the organization has always been ethical and compassionate. They provide much needed services to the community and the dollars raised tomorrow night will help sustain that mission. Kid Rock not performing will not change the success of the event or the sense of community that is built around a common cause: preventing and curing cancer.
kokopuff's picture

GM is sponsoring this event big time...this is NOT about money not being paid, believe me.
Sherry Rosenkranz's picture

Well Kid - what gives? If you are a man of your word...use all of your words and tell us the entire truth about what happened. I could care less about you being at the event tomorrow, I am attending for other reasons, but I do care that you are bringing negative publicity to an organization that saves countless lives - including my own.
AnnaJ's picture

Sherry, I agree with you 100%, well said. I too am a cancer survivor and wish i could have just stepped away. I hope that the people who bought tickets will NOT ask for a refund, becuase that money is neeed so bad right now, I am living proof of the need and credit this organization for developing the treatments that saved my life.
JGoldie's picture

@SAMANTHAMELDRUM: What did I say that wasn't nice? I am a fan. A fan that paid $350 to see him perform at a charity function and now he is bailing and doesn't even have the courage to say why. We as fans deserve more than that. If it really is the reason that there was a "no publicity" clause than that has to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard and there is no way you can disagree with that. It has been on their website for months and newspaper articles written about it. That excuse doesn't fly with me. Everyone that has blind faith that KR can do no wrong have real issues. He says " I am a man of my word"...what, did he say to ACS "If you make public comments about the even I will cancel" And rumor has it someone from ACS said something on the radio so now he is "being a man of his word" by cancelling the event?? Does that sound right? If that is really the truth he will suffer a lot of long term negative publicity from this.
Sherry Rosenkranz's picture

I know I have lost all respect. I look forward to the next time I run into Kid at Woodshop or the Union. His decision didn't just affect those who paid $350 per ticket for the event...I personally would have gone regardless of who was appearing. The issue is his decision is negatively affecting the American Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to helping people who face cancer. ACS supports research, patient services, early detection, treatment and education. Without them, I would likely not be alive today. Kid - be the bigger man and make this right.
denise_3x SURVIVOR's picture

REALLY PEOPLE??? Those of you who PAID $350.00 for this BENEFIT should KNOW BETTER than to BITCH about Kid Rock NOT BEING a part of the event. YOUR $$$$ is SUPPORTING A CHARITY!!! Ultimately the ONLY REASON you should have to complain is IF the ACS decided to CANCEL the ENTIRE EVENT!!! WHAT???? don't "judge" Kid Rock , LOOK in the MIRROR. If you are upset cuz you PAID ALL THAT MONEY and he's NOT GOING TO BE THERE, then you should be ASHAMED!!! Cuz IF YOU TRULY wanted to HELP the CHILDREN then WHO is there shouldn't be the issue, it's the ACT of GIVING/DONATING that should be ENOUGH reward for you. I, personally, if I had that kind of money would DONATE JUST knowing that it's gonna help somebody pay their medical bills, give a group of Dr's a grant that might help them find a cure, pay somebody's gas to get 'em to the dr. and MOST of ALL : It MAY JUST SAVE SOMEBODY's LIFE!!! One LESS VICTIM to a SENSELESS DISEASE! go ahead, ASK THEM for a REFUND if you are soooo UPSET about what you are GETTING out of your $350.00 ticket to this "fund raiser". Then come back here and share with us your experience.
JGoldie's picture

If that is truly the reason I will lose a lot of respect for him. He hurt his fans that paid a lot of money to see him and support a worthy cause.
Sherry Rosenkranz's picture

Given what happened, it appears you were just looking for an out. I wish when I was diagnosed with cancer that I could have just taken an "out" and said, "Yeah, I'm not doing this cancer thing". You are bringing a lot of negative press to an organization that raises invaluable funds...funds that saved my life and may someday save yours. I thought you were better than this.
Sherry Rosenkranz's picture

Word is that Kid Rock got upset that a couple of folks on a morning talk show were talking about his appearance and he has a "no publicity" clause in his contract. However, the ACS Cattle Baron's site has his appearance info. -- which was approved by his people, so Kid - what gives? As a 3-time cancer survivor, this event means everything to me...
Dan_2's picture

Well hopefully this "breach of contract" is purely business and not personal. The Cattle Baron's Ball has been a legitamate charity fundraising event for many years. Hopefully Kid Rock can share that the problem was business related. I would hate to see the beneficiaries of the charity suffer because people see the Charity as unworthy and no longer donate to the cause. All Kid Rock fans know that he is continually concerned with promoting Michigan and Detroit and with that making sure that those less fortunate recieve the help they so badly need during these tough economic times. We are behind you Kid . . . live to fight another day!
itsrealnifeelit's picture

Pretty simple stuff REAL fans. ( JHL ur an idiot ). Message to high rolling cowboys n EVERYONE else: Don't Fuck With Kid Rock!! period! til we rock again.
d11s11p11's picture

Must of been a good reason or he wouldn't of canceled. I will go with what KR says and believe that he has a right to his fans and himself to keep his word.
JGoldie's picture

I guarantee you that at the end of the day it's all about getting paid....mark my word. What do you think...they wouldn't let him smoke his cigar at the event so he cancelled!! Yes, we should all stop supporting the American Cancer Society....do you even think before you write?
kokopuff's picture

So could your breach of contract be over a couple of yobs who talked about your appearance on a Detroit radio morning show? Seriously? Don't you realize that your appearance info. has been on the ACS site for weeks now? (and I assume your agent approved all that, including your photo). Man up and grow a pair and tell your fans what this supposed breach is all about.
Duke'sHilltopHouseHonolulu's picture

I can't say as I don't know. Can't see this being over Kid Rock not getting a few lousey dollars for performing. Had to be more to it than just that. Lot's of shady people out there always wanting a Plat Artist to perform for their benefit. I'm sure we will all be enlightened at some point.
LindyLou's picture

You have to stand firm if you believe it's right! People that already bought tickets may be disappointed but if they are true fans they will not be disappointed in you. However, they will think twice about supporting this organization in the future.
Duke'sHilltopHouseHonolulu's picture

Anyone that knows you knows you would not do anything to hurt the KRC and all the fans. Some things are not in our control and people always have to be accountable for their word. It is the most important thing in a business relationship and in fact life. Everyone should put some pressure on those who broke their word!
JGoldie's picture

So it seems at the end of the day he was getting paid to perform at this charity event. Nothing wrong with that...just stop putting him on a pedestal claiming he does so much for charity. At the end of the day it's about getting paid and obviously the ACS and KR had a disagreement about that. He should have treated this as a concert since a lot of money paid $350 to see him perform at it.
Sherry Rosenkranz's picture

As a 3-time cancer survivor...i am more than disappointed that i won't be able to see you. i don't know what caused the breach in contract, but the people who paid $350 per ticket are the ones who are paying the price and that just isn't right...
Paul G's picture

It's nice to hear someones "word" has some backbone.
Tammy - I'm the one.'s picture

Bum deal. Sorry to hear that. Still hoping I run into you one day!!!!
Dixiespatch's picture

Respect what the man says! He's not one to just drop something without there being a damn good reason and we don't have to know what that is either! Love ya! Will see you in KC!
melanie_17's picture

april, he played voodoo in 2004, that was the 1st time i saw him......INCREDIBLE show!!!!
rocksavedmysoul's picture
