'Reuters Canada' recently spoke to Kid Rock about his career's direction and some of his new plans. The interview features Rock discussing about the upcoming "Care" tour, the theme of his next album, doing charity work, his parternship with Jim Beam and more!

Here are highlights from the interview:

Q: Looking back on the success of "Born Free," would you say that was a milestone record for you in your career?

A: "I think it kind of solidified where I was heading with 'Rock N Roll Jesus' and kind of all the way back to the self-titled record (2003's 'Kid Rock'). This one I did with (producer) Rick Rubin and really followed his vision through the whole thing and obviously learned a lot. I know we wrote some classic songs, 'Born Free' for instance. I never thought I would beat 'Bawitdaba' as a show closer, but 'Born Free' is such a different sentiment."

Q: Will your next album continue with that or build on different themes?

A: "One thing I know I don't want to do is record in Los Angeles. I had too much fun doing that. My free time was ridiculous, and when I get free time with no responsibility, I'm dangerous (laughs) ... But I really want the next record to sort of be a 'Greatest Hits' with all new songs. The last record was very much in one vein, both sonically and theme wise. I want to do something that's all over the place with everything I love to do. I still love to do rap songs with rock guitars, I like country sounding southern rock stuff, I love to make heavy rock, I love the blues stuff. Every day I feel different about music but what never changes is my love for it. So that's what I want to do, put all that out there because I really enjoy it."

Best news I've heard since I scored floor tix for your HOB show next month. I love the heavy rock/ southern rock/ rap u do so I am already looking forward to more of that on your next album. Born free to me was very Seger/Springsteen-esque, which is fine, but not what I think u do best...which is sing and play rock anthems that blow the roof off.

If nothing else, all of ur fans and I know how passionate u r about ur music & wat u put into ur music..I will tell u that my favorite album is the "Rock N Roll Jesus" but the most touching single u have touched my heart/soul with & had tears in my eyes with about the 1st 10 x's I had listened was "Born Free".I know u hear it alot and I have read it alot but I can't help but say this but it has touched the depths deep within me becuz I was going thru some very heavy changes in my life at the time this album was released and u was part of my daily inspiration of holding my faith within and grasping life and at the same time I was just turning 40 myself.I want 2 say ty 4 the help, hope, inspiration and knowing that I cud finally smile again with ur help out of the darkness.I am anxiously awaiting 2 hear wat u have in store 4 us on ur next album release but I know just as u have proven before that it will b just as beautiful, rockin n rollin, heel kickin, booty shakin and most of all unbeatable & unlike any 1 other musician can perform accept the #1 BAD ASS BOY OF DETROIT.Keep doing wat ur doing and always stay real cuz that's wat makes u shine sweety & always keeps me smiling.GOD BLESS & SENDING U LOTS OF LOVE & XO's

Amazingly awesome read Mr. Bob Ritchie. "I still love to do rap songs with rock guitars, I like country sounding southern rock stuff, I love to make heavy rock, I love the blues stuff. Every day I feel different about music but what never changes is my love for it. So that's what I want to do, put all that out there because I really enjoy it". That statement above is exactly why WE THE PEOPLE enjoy your music so much. You are a tremendous gift to the music industry. You are such a smart guy, and I always knew that. Especially since You began this career while being a teenager. Not a lot of young people know exactly what they want to do at a young age like that, and for You to know, and then DO IT, amazing. I have to also add that it would be really refreshing to have You & TBT record this album together as THE TEAM you ALL are. BRAVO & SLAINTE!!! :) Peace, Luv & Rock n' Roll Sher Z~

Can't wait, wish I had the gift of music making, it's inside, but I can't get it to come out. My guitar strings hate me!!! Party like a rock star!!!

Good music speaks for it's self, regardless of style. Most of us were influenced by all kinds of music while growing up, southern rock, Motown, 70's rock, rap. blues, jazz and classic country. God help me, my parents were hillbillys and I still have a spot in my heart for bluegrass. I have always respected that you know who you are and are not ashamed to put it out there. Can't wait for the new music!!!
Margo C's picture

I can not frickin wait for this album! So happy to hear him say musically it'll be a bit of everything in it. Now hurry up & get it done!!!
