    About Scalping and Stubhub

We wanted to give all the fans some information about Stubhub and other scalper websites:

    1.      We can’t pull them down.  If we could we would.  Bizzarrely the aftermarket ticket business is legal.  Stubhub is owned by Ebay and operates the same way with no liability for the transactions.  We always try and keep our ticket prices reasonable and affordable.  We appreciate the money you spend on tickets and do everything we can to stop scalpers.

    2.       We don’t believe it’s the venues or promoters that are involved in this, unfortunately it's regular people and professional scalpers.  Although it's sometimes inconvenient for the fans we limited ticket purchase to 2 ticket max to reduce the number of scalped tix.

    3.    We also made most of the shows Will Call Only.  Meaning you have to pick up your tickets with ID the day of the show at the box office.  Where the venue couldn’t handle “Will Call Only” we made the first 10 or 12 rows available only at Will Call so the best seats in the house can’t be scalped.

    4.       It's likely that many of the scalpers don’t even have some of the tickets they post on Stubhub, especially the high value ones.  They wait til someone bites, then they try and buy the tickets.  But since the high value tix are Will Call Only, either the scalper will have to go to the venue day of show and pick up tickets and hand them off or they are just fucking the people that buy them.  BEWARE if the tix are in the first 10 rows you can only pick them up at the show and for most of the shows that’s the ONLY way to pick up the tickets.

    5.       We always try every move to reduce the activity but we can’t eliminate it (YET!!).  For example, AC/DC did paperless tickets on an entire tour which required ticketholders to bring the credit card used to purchase the ticket to get in.  These shady fucking scalpers bought all the tickets with American Express gift cards (which are like temporary credit cards with money on it) and they mailed used gift cards with the tickets.

FINALLY GOT TICKETS!! It took my fiance and I both being on our phones and computers to get just 2 tickets, that's all we wanted! You have all these people not only getting tickets but then getting them for BOTH weekends you're here. Not fair! lol. Anyways, thanks for opening up more shows!!!!!! Your fans appreciate it to the fullest! Can't wait to see you at DTE!!!!

OMG! Cadillac meow meow! I am freaking laughing so hard! Cadillac meow meow. I know the cost out for the CD is not good but how funny. Thanks for sharing that CINBOB!

Great decision on the part of Kid Rock. I was able to get tickets for the concert I wanted for the show in Chicago at the end of this month. I am certain that without the two ticket per person limit and the stipulation that tickets had to be picked up the day of the show that with it being such a small venue I would have not had a chance at getting tickets. In the past I have had to pay 4x face value for premium Kid Rock tickets at Pine Knob in Michigan. Hopefully other top selling bands will catch on this wave and continue to make prices and availability more competitive.

"Bizzarrely the aftermarket ticket business is legal". This is laughable. If we are going to make selling tickets illegal, lets make the reselling of everything illegal. I am sure KR would not be happy if he could not sell his house at market prices. Or if he had to sell his stocks at the price he bought them.
KRfan2010's picture

Sure KR. Venues and promoters have nothing to do with this. Nathan Hubbard, CEO of TM says he wants to dynamically price concerts. What better way to do it then to list on Ticketsnow (own by ticketmaster and Live nation). Scalpers will always be around. But soon it will be the venues and promoters ripping us off. Ticketmaster even said so. It has already begun.

Jake, Its our goal in life to put those businesses OUT OF BUS.. ITS A RIP OFF. Stop fucking over the fans.

Admin - Thanks for the info. Kid - Thanks for keeping the fight against scalpers going for your true fans. I have never been front row center, but I have been in the first 20 rows a lot of times - at cost! If I miss out on a buying tix here for a show, I always check "by owner" tickets first. I usually just get in the lower bowl, which is fine with me. Sometimes I can see the show better that way. The scalpers know they only make real money on the first 10 rows, so they normally stay away from lowers. To me scalpers are just like any other business. If you don't like that type of business, don't spend your money there. They will go away if there isn't any demand.

All I can say is HOLY SHIT!!! Thank you, Adin for some good information. I've seen several posts now about your fans not being able to purchase more than two ticks. I try to explain, it's what WE asked for in getting the scalpers out of the mix. Wonder if Kid might consider some kind of ID card of his very own to identify his KRC fans. A credit card of sorts....I dunno, these f*krs piss me off. Thank you for all your doing to try and curb them a little. Time to start a brain storming discussion. Thanks again for the info.

Jake says (14 hours ago) You people are funny. If you didn't have businesses running sites to sell tickets that people couldn't or didn't want to use then you would have to buy them from an "extra shady" guy on the street. KR and other artists, teams, etc price their tickets the way they do to hopefully sell out a show as quickly as possible. They don't want to play to an empty house. They just get a little perturbed when they start thinking that they left $$ on the table. You OBVIOUSLY HAVE NOT PAID FUCKING ATTENTION---go look at all the shit this Band has given away---and after you get done going over that, Jake---FUCK OFF.
Rowan68's picture

If it wasn't for Stub Hub and scalpers I would be stuck in the back of the crowd in bad seats...I pay extra, but center 11 rows back at most... ??? I will take it for $150* any day Even presale and standing in line doesn't gtd me that!
Bobannie313's picture

i hate scalpers too but im bummed i payed triple to one and didnt get any of the goodies....i broke down, need to be front row...haha but bummed

Clara Ray-the same thing happened to me last November in Detroit for KR 40 bday... Tried day of sale and 2 presales...no tickets. Ended up having to go to ebay cuz I HAD to be there! Anyhow, for the August Detroit show at Comerica Park, I tried KRC again and then was able get great seats at a good price and had the best time at a show ever! The KRC was on top of the BS that had happened and continue to be. Keep trying... it's so worth it!

we are all honest fans. What a shame

"The last thing I want is some bottom of the barrel lazy fuck who wont get a real job ripping off my fans to get rich." -- Kid Rock Most venues have exclusive agreements with THE selling agents Ticketmaster, aka Live Nation, so there is no competition out there that would help keep this particular selling agents in check; making their markups like, Service Charges, Building Facility Charges, Processing Charges and Shipping/E-Ticket/Will Call Charges less excessive. Ticketmaster is a monopoly and has been since the 80s. It's bad enough that they make the event goers "bend over" with fees, but these greedy bastards are in bed with the scalpers (aka lazy fucks) -- hmm -- can anyone say "conflict of interest"?!! The U.S. states do not have laws in place to limit the value placed on the resale amount of event tickets or where and how these tickets should be sold. This certainly needs to change!! Looks like it's gonna take some laws (at a national and international level) to break up this monster and it's ever-growing family of ne'er do wells. Here's TM's selling policies off THEIR secondary ticket reselling siteTicketExchange: Setting the Posting Price; Your Proceeds from a Sale: You will also be asked to set your per ticket "Posting Price" for the tickets in the posting. The "Posting Price" is not the total amount that a purchaser would pay, or that you would receive, in connection with a sale. Instead, you would receive "Your Proceeds," which will equal the Posting Price minus a seller fee which Ticketmaster will deduct and retain. The purchaser would pay to Ticketmaster an amount that equals the Posting Price plus additional amounts. Other than Your Proceeds, we will keep all other amounts associated with a purchase and may share such amounts with tax authorities and other third parties.
LK's Soap Box's picture

Since ticketing laws vary by state to state, many ticket resellers use a loophole and sell their tickets outside of the state of an event. And, the advent of presales has allowed more individuals to participate in reselling tickets outside of a broker's office. Hopefully there will be legislation against this type of business practice; and, efforts need to be made to get all countries to adopt similar legislation so that there can be no hiding places -- either on the street corner or on the internet.

Yeah, the Nashville show was sold out before they even went on sell. I was trying at 10 am, boom, boom, boom....tried all day and the next. I know you can't "police" everything, it just sucks for the real people who love to see you perform. Maybe next time. Love your music, keep the faith.
Sharon_2's picture

Amen brother, my husband and I always see you when you come to Nashville. We want be going to the Ryman, your show sold out before we got tickets. I would never, ever purchased a ticket from StubHub. I sure it will be a great concert!!!!!!! pissed off, we want be going!

On # 5.. Daaam ain't that some shit. On #4.. That explains a lot.. as I was hearing ppl were getting emails that they were mailed and I was getting all worried like..lol. Thanks for the explanation. Can't wait NYC 8th row : )

The same thing is happening with the T-shirt sales.....people standing outside the venues trying to sell the screwed up copies of T-shirts. Every show I've seen I buy my shirts INSIDE and then when these guys come up to the truck trying to sell me a t-shirt I HOLD MY "AUTHENTIC Kid Rock" T up and ask 'em if they WANNA BUY MINE! hahahaha! MAJOR BUZZ KILL for them!!! Everybody's just tryin' to make a $buck$ OR two any way they can. Can't blame 'em for tryin', but the way I see it, is IF we don't buy from them, eventually they will FIND SOMETHING ELSE to SELL!
lionesse65's picture

Bobby we know it is nothing you can do or it would have been done already. We need people to stop buy at least your concert tickets from them, if they lose too much money they will have to cut back on ticket purchases. We love how you care about your fans. I refuse to buy from scalpers. Whenever in the D I get approached I turn my back and let them read my tat so they know Im a kid rock fan 4 life so they know dont even ask me to sell you tickets or purchase they may just end up with my fist in your face instead. Anyway, bring on the Detroit date(s) soon want to go. Dont want to wait til the cruise to see you again.

Thank you for caring guys, making us aware and trying so hard to give us fair priced tickets!!! Hate those rip of swindle tricksters, trying to make dimes out of innocent people!
girl4kidrock's picture

Thanks for keeping us aware and reserving great seats for us, the true fans~!

Scalpers SUCK!!! Thanks for all you guys are doing to keep this at a minimum!!! We need to do our part and not bow to the scalpers and buy their tickets!!!! I think it would be safe to say though that most KRC members know by now not to buy through scalpers, we get the opportunity for that first shot of the good seats being part of the congregation!

Thank-you for caring....it is a frustrating, fukt system......

I salute you for trying everything you can to make sure that the scalpers stay out of the business. I wish more artists would do the same. You ROCK for showing how much you really care about the true fans!
