Here are more highlights from a phone interview Kid Rock did with 'Michigan Live' prior to his performance at the 'Allegan County Fair' on Saturday. Kid Rock said he never wanted to be a businessman just "sing songs and drive a cool car." "But I'm more in the mix than I've ever been," Kid Rock said of the business side of his career. For example, he said he thought the prices of concert T-shirts were too high. For the last few shows of his "Born Free Tour," he slashed the prices in half on some merchandise items, as will be the case at the Allegan County Fair. He said some merchandise booths have a sign reading, "F--- the economy, all shirts are half off." It's part of his own mini-campaign to make his shows more affordable for fans, something he plans to address with the powers that be. He said costs needed to be lowered, including his own take. "We don't have to rip everybody off," he said. "I know I'm overpaid." And it didn't sound like Kid Rock is paying lip-service. He said he'd also like to toss out convenience charges on ticket orders, another battle he plans to pursue in the future. "The next couple years are going to be interesting," he said, as if making a promise. Musically, Kid Rock said he's getting "mentally prepared" to record another album. "Born Free" was produced by Rick Rubin and although Kid Rock said in a Rolling Stone magazine interview that he'd like to work with the famous hitmaker again, the location of the process may be a sticking point. Kid Rock wants to record in Michigan; Rubin doesn't like the idea, Kid Rock said. "We might not be doing the next one together," he said. In the meantime, Kid Rock sounds as if he's twiddling his thumbs at home. He has plans to build a barn on his property. Actually, to "smoke cigars, drink beer and yell at contractors." Kid Rock said he's also seriously considering a tour of small clubs - in the neighborhood of 1,500 seats per venue. He's eyeballing November and December for the tour. Why? "I'm just bored. I have nothing to do right now," he said. "It's been so long since I've done that stuff ... play some obscure stuff for the long-time fans." Kid Rock said he wants to play these small gigs all over the U.S. and create a "shit storm in each town." Read the full interview of this great article at MLive.com.

I love the way he's cutting his prices for his merchandise. I'm just a poor ole country girl that loves me some Kid Rock. But even thanking him for cutting his prices. I still couldn't afford one. I've gone to see Kid Rock at least 10 times and have never been able to afford his t-shirts~~~ Thanks for lowering the prices though. I really appreciate it~~~ Have a great day~~~ If you're really bored my 84 year old mama would like to meet you~~~ She likes your music and thinks you're sexy~~~~

I was lucky enough to see one his shows on 01/28/12 in a small venue, the House of Blues in Las Vegas. Only 1500 people. I was lucky enough to find and get VIP tickets 4 days before the show. Worth EVERY penny. It was like fate intervened and all the stars aligned - my first trip to Vegas, my first day in Vegas, my first Kid Rock concert, and I was maybe 10 feet from him. I guess you could say Kid Rock took my "Vegas Virginity", but damn it was worth it and I enjoyed every second of it. I had always heard he was multi-talented and put on a great show, but I was absolutely amazed and awed. Definitely the best night of my life! One of my favorite parts was that he did a good bit of his older stuff and it was really funny trying to watch the younger newer fans keep up with us long-time fan on "Bawitdaba." We had to tell them "Picture" and "All Summer Long" wasn't his first songs. Thanks again Kid Rock for a great night.....

I got tossed from the KFC Yum Center in Louisville, Ky last February..........so what are my chances @ the Egyptian Ballroom? Just adore everything about you, love that you're doing the small venues, but hate it that you are bored, just saying............well until I get to meet you in person that conversation will have to wait! I've played all my trump cards, so I'll just have to follow suit, until new deal, and new hand. Have I told you "I love you today Kid"?

You've got to come over to the west side and cause some crazy mess in the woodsy towns by the Big Lake. Muskegon might not know how to handle you, but my friends and I sure would! It's past Labor Day, the tourists have left town and now this area needs a little jumpstart before it totally hibernates over the winter. Come play here and let the girls who live along Lake Michigan show you our affection!

great place to find venue (small) listings; www.reverbnation.com my selfish small venue request; The Bamboo Room in Lake Worth Florida, about 25 minutes South of Jupiter Island (wink wink) and then there is the two acre lot with spare party house for the band...

I remember in 1975 when Cadillac got "KISSed" at homecoming. Our homecoming is 10/21. Help me call plays at the game and do a show after.... Create the storm at another town in West Michigan.

The small venue idea sounds great. The Ritz Theatre in Ybor City (Tampa) would be a perfect place. Saw you in Orlando with Jamey Johnson and Indianapolis with Cheryl Crow. You always give 100+ percent. Thank you, you definately give the money's worth.

KID ROCK WAS AWSOME IN VA BEACH THE DAY OF THE EAST COAST EARTHQUAKE,AUG,23RD.HOPE ONE OF THESE SMALL VENUES CLOSE TO US CAUSE WE CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF YOU MR. RITCHIE.MY ONLY COMPLAINT,NOT REALLY,IS THAT T-SHIRT PRICES COULD HAVE BEEN LOWER FOR ALL SHOWS,NOT JUST THE LAST FEW OF THE TOUR,NO WORRIES,GOT MY SHIRTS AND PRICES WERE NOT TOO BAD,BUT HALF OFF WOULD HAVE BEEN EVEN BETTER.GLAD TO HAVE BEEN THERE FOR MY 2ND SHOW WITH MANY MORE HOPEFULLY TO COME.CAN'T WAIT TILL WE SEE YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am beginning to Iike u more and more. I wish there were more people in this world like u. It would be a better place. My apologies for some of the comments made when you had Facebook and said you didn't have time to chat. You showed me huh? Love what u r doing. Don't change and keep staying true. Miss talking on old Facebook but I can see how u could get overwhelmed. Keep on rocking in the free world from the girl in red, white, and blue.
