Here are more highlights from a phone interview Kid Rock did with 'Michigan Live' prior to his performance at the 'Allegan County Fair' on Saturday. Kid Rock said he never wanted to be a businessman just "sing songs and drive a cool car." "But I'm more in the mix than I've ever been," Kid Rock said of the business side of his career. For example, he said he thought the prices of concert T-shirts were too high. For the last few shows of his "Born Free Tour," he slashed the prices in half on some merchandise items, as will be the case at the Allegan County Fair. He said some merchandise booths have a sign reading, "F--- the economy, all shirts are half off." It's part of his own mini-campaign to make his shows more affordable for fans, something he plans to address with the powers that be. He said costs needed to be lowered, including his own take. "We don't have to rip everybody off," he said. "I know I'm overpaid." And it didn't sound like Kid Rock is paying lip-service. He said he'd also like to toss out convenience charges on ticket orders, another battle he plans to pursue in the future. "The next couple years are going to be interesting," he said, as if making a promise. Musically, Kid Rock said he's getting "mentally prepared" to record another album. "Born Free" was produced by Rick Rubin and although Kid Rock said in a Rolling Stone magazine interview that he'd like to work with the famous hitmaker again, the location of the process may be a sticking point. Kid Rock wants to record in Michigan; Rubin doesn't like the idea, Kid Rock said. "We might not be doing the next one together," he said. In the meantime, Kid Rock sounds as if he's twiddling his thumbs at home. He has plans to build a barn on his property. Actually, to "smoke cigars, drink beer and yell at contractors." Kid Rock said he's also seriously considering a tour of small clubs - in the neighborhood of 1,500 seats per venue. He's eyeballing November and December for the tour. Why? "I'm just bored. I have nothing to do right now," he said. "It's been so long since I've done that stuff ... play some obscure stuff for the long-time fans." Kid Rock said he wants to play these small gigs all over the U.S. and create a "shit storm in each town." Read the full interview of this great article at MLive.com.

Okay. . . I have not heard a better idea than a tour of small clubs. . . . I couldn't imagine a better night. . .

The idea of obscure songs for long time fans is very cool would love to see it happen. I thought before a 1 off show in detroit would be good but a mini tour would be awesome. Any tracks from EMSP or polyfuse would be great to hear live.

Oh yeah if it was offered to KRC members only that would be off the F'IN chain!!!!!

You go boy! Keep doing what your doing and thats why we love you so much. do you need a stable girl to take care of your barn? R u going to get horses? If u get bored you can always come party with us on the lake and drink, fish, play pool, swim, or even get in the hot tub. We don't mind.

Yep i do agree the t-shirts were quite expensive this time around! My hubby & I went to see Kid Rock & Sheryl Crow in Indy on August 20th, and we paid $40.00 per shirt! Never thought we would drop $121.00 on 2 t-shirts, 3 beers ($11.00 each!) and $8.00 on a big bag of kettle popcorn. But, I wouldn't trade it for anything! This was our 2nd time watching Kid Rock in concert and he is worth every hard earned penny! Love ya Bobby and what you stand for! Too bad we couldn't afford to go see you last night. Hubby said choose 1 concert so I said Indy it is and I'm so glad I did you ROCKED! Best concert EVER!
Joan34S's picture

Bummed that we didn't see Sheryl Crow at the concert last but was amazed at Kid Rock's energy! Well worth the money for a full blown concert!

I think you should come play in my hometown of Amarillo, Texas we need a good storm here in this hick town and I think Kid Rock is the man to make it rain a storm, BTW great show in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Imagine if Kid Rock took his show to some church grounds? I wonder if the Pope would have to step in? Would he have to get apporved by the Bishop? Now that would be something that I would try to do if I was in that position just to shake things up! No, I'm only kidding, talk about causing a comotion. Rock and Roll Jesus takes over The Catholic Church.....I could see it now....He would drive all the nuns and wanna be nuns CRAZY for sure! I'd pay anything to see that, but at least my parish priest is trying to do a good job at it for now! Amen and Rock On!

ONE MORE THING . HEY BOBBY I AM ON VACATIONS FOR TWO WEEKS NEED HELP BUILDING THAT BARN.

I AGREE WITH MICHIGAN GIRL. THE SMALLER SHOWS SHOULD BE OFFERED TO THE KRC MEMBERS ONLY.
LJ1970's picture

How about a UK/European tour? You know you'd get a warm welcome.

The small shows should be KRC members only........=)

Kid Rock can play any show, anytime, we will find a way to be there! I personally think that it's cool that he is willing to play small venues. Some rockers won't do it, I guess it doesn't boost their ego's... but Kid is a stand up man! He may be bored....but he does it for his fans! Just like the time he takes on the 'Chillin' the Most Cruise" to take a picture with every single fan on that ship, that's one hell of a person and a rocker! Keep on doin' your thing! Love your music and all you do, ready for another album too! Can't wait!!

I am not sure that Kid Rock could do a planned small show. If someone hears he is coming to town, they will be there from miles around,so how small is small? You are in the thousands now. However,if You did small shows again, maybe several in an area,You know do a rotation in an area. People would not have to go to You,You could go to them kind of thing. Small/Kid Rock, somehow those two words do not go together. And once again,my unsolicited opinion. Maybe do just Your state MI for a year. That would keep You close to home AND Your states economy. Maybe all rockers should do that. Play their home state for a year. Spend time with family and improve their states. Will that work? I do not know,You are the Rockstar,Will it? Or maybe just do Your state and the bordering states around You for a year. Just a wild loose running thought.

That would be sooo cooool to see you in a small venue, maybe then I could just kiss your a--, oh I mean kiss you hand...I would love that- I get to see you for the 3rd time since March at Allegan County Fair tomorrow night. We're staying at the Grand Haven Holiday Inn if you'd like to have a wonderful dinner after the show!!!

Ha,ha,ha I've been laughing all day about that comment and then I give my mom a shower and .....well I had to hurry her up onto the toilet...you know what I mean jelly bean? So true! Wait sad but true! I just wish it was Raining Men from The Weather Sisters, that's all I ask....It's one of my favorite songs in the whole wide world....maybe someday. If not in this life then I'll shoot for the next! I'm gonna die try'in! P.S. No priests or cousins allowed!
