Here are more highlights from a phone interview Kid Rock did with 'Michigan Live' prior to his performance at the 'Allegan County Fair' on Saturday. Kid Rock said he never wanted to be a businessman just "sing songs and drive a cool car." "But I'm more in the mix than I've ever been," Kid Rock said of the business side of his career. For example, he said he thought the prices of concert T-shirts were too high. For the last few shows of his "Born Free Tour," he slashed the prices in half on some merchandise items, as will be the case at the Allegan County Fair. He said some merchandise booths have a sign reading, "F--- the economy, all shirts are half off." It's part of his own mini-campaign to make his shows more affordable for fans, something he plans to address with the powers that be. He said costs needed to be lowered, including his own take. "We don't have to rip everybody off," he said. "I know I'm overpaid." And it didn't sound like Kid Rock is paying lip-service. He said he'd also like to toss out convenience charges on ticket orders, another battle he plans to pursue in the future. "The next couple years are going to be interesting," he said, as if making a promise. Musically, Kid Rock said he's getting "mentally prepared" to record another album. "Born Free" was produced by Rick Rubin and although Kid Rock said in a Rolling Stone magazine interview that he'd like to work with the famous hitmaker again, the location of the process may be a sticking point. Kid Rock wants to record in Michigan; Rubin doesn't like the idea, Kid Rock said. "We might not be doing the next one together," he said. In the meantime, Kid Rock sounds as if he's twiddling his thumbs at home. He has plans to build a barn on his property. Actually, to "smoke cigars, drink beer and yell at contractors." Kid Rock said he's also seriously considering a tour of small clubs - in the neighborhood of 1,500 seats per venue. He's eyeballing November and December for the tour. Why? "I'm just bored. I have nothing to do right now," he said. "It's been so long since I've done that stuff ... play some obscure stuff for the long-time fans." Kid Rock said he wants to play these small gigs all over the U.S. and create a "shit storm in each town." Read the full interview of this great article at MLive.com.

A smaller concert would be awesome! I saw you in chicago for the 3rd time and the shows just get better and better. But a small intimate show would be HOT. I will definatly be waiting for those dates. My only gripe.... Would you PLEASE considering making larger size womens shirts. I have to buy men's and then cut the neckline to make them girly. Hey, I'm a meat and potatoes girl, I need a little more room :)

Oh how I love a small intimate setting for a concert, especially with Kid Rock! I hope he makes it to my hometown for one of these small venues!....Maybe around Dec. 25 for a Merry Christmas with The Kid? He can use my chimney if he has to take a s--t!!!! I'll supply him with the TP and a news paper....he'll have to bring his own cigar. A shit storm is the funniest thing I've ever heard! I've been caught in one for over a year now with my aging mom and prior to that my poor sick dog.....I've been literally knee deep in shit for what seems like an eternity now and I'll take a shit strom from Kid Rock anyday to add to my list! ha,ha,ha. Hey Kid tell those nasty contractors if they have plumbers ass your gonna lite it on fire and pour an ice cold Badass beer down their pants, no pun intended! That'll get 'em! You Go Boy! You gotta fight for you right to PARRRRTY!

I was at the show in Atlanta when you announced that the merchandise booth was half price after what you saw previous nights. My friends who were "virgin" Kid Rock concert goers were very impressed and realized that's part of why I love you so much!

Boy, he is right on the money, today everyone wants to cut their expenses. I Mi we are struggling as costs keep rising, but our hometown hero, just keeps on delivering! He truly is one of us and a darn good man! Thanks Bobby for the concern. The cost of the shirts was a little too high, I did not get one, but I keep threatening my daughter that maybe I should take hers. She did offer to buy me one at the last concert, but I couldn't let her do that, she has her own expenses, raising a family on her own! We had such a great time, it didn't really matter anyway.I was just glad to be there!!! My fiance and I decided it would be our birthday present to each other, as we are both born in August. Had a blast, loved every minute of it and love you Bobby. Thanks for the music and the memories!!!!

I'm so happy to hear he may be doing smaller venues, I can't stand the huge stadiums for concerts. The problem with that though is in Michigan how the hell would he be able to meet the demand? He'd have to play for like a month straight in a 1500 person venue....don't know what it's like in other places but at home it would be hard for everyone who wants to see him be able to get tickets. Still hope he does it though =) Also pleased to hear he may not be working with Rubin on his next album...make it at home with the TBT...YES!!!

GREAT NOW MAYBE YOU CAN COME TO PROVIDENCE, RI!!!

YES! Small clubs! It's where you came from, hell for that matter you can break out a tune in a parking lot (ha)! I can see impromptu surprise concerts for your loyal fans. Found a site that lists hundreds of thousands of venues (small, hole in the wall types too) its called; reverbnation.com. Not sure you'll make it this far South but in Lake Worth, FL, there's a lil local spot called the Bamboo Room. Fucking awesome venue! It's in old town Lake Worth. GREAT SHOW LAST NIGHT! Love from Jupiter, KC

My hometown hero. Driving across the beautiful state of Michigan tomorrow with my 2 best girlfriends to see the show at the Allegan County Fair. Can't wait! We love you Bobby!

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE do the small clubs and come to Columbia, SC!!!!!!! I've been to see you 10 times and always have to go to Charlotte/Greenville/Charleston, which is great, but Columbia would be great too! And if that's not in the mix, well then I'll still go to Charlotte/Greenville/Charleston! So glad you come to the Carolina's as much as you do! It's always a great time and everytime I go I say "now THAT was the best show yet!!!"

WoW!!! Thanks for caring & listening, I've been asking for these things U mention for a while now. It's really nice to read that U R taking the "fans" ideas n' making them happen. Personally, that's why I like U ALL, very much. NYC & please please do Toad's Place in New Haven, CT. I think U prolly already knew this but, Rolling Stones played there years ago. Funny story, U wanna hear it, here it goes... when The Stones played Toad's Place I was like barely 21 and remember a bunch of us going out that night, we walked by Toad's on way to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, yeah, they used to have a theater that played it right around the corner from Toad's. We had unbrellas, rice, water, U know the drill, was getting there early to get back seats so U don't get too wet. Anywho, walked by Toad's Place & heard The Stones playing and said to the guard, is that who I think it is? He said "yes" and it's sold out. The radio stations were promoting Toad's all day, but they were advertising some no name band, well, those who knew, got threw if U know what I mean. PLEASE PLAY TOAD's PLACE IN NEW HAVEN, CT.......Total College location and lots of fun, just ask Kracker, he played there not too long ago, we had a blast!!! Hey, I can sell UR T~Shirts for ya, I need a JOB!!! :) Also, please do more limited edition Kid Rock & TBT posters like U did for Bethel Woods, NY 8/17/11, I was lucky enough to meet the head of operations that evening & they provided me with one. Very Very SweeT!!! :) U all put on a great show last night for the kick off of football season. Perfecto!!!! Like UR hair cut too. It was nice to see everyone get a little camera time too. ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Peace, Luv & Rock n' Roll SherZ

Please do the small club gigs! Those are the best! I was just at one tonight supporting one of my favorite up and comers from Nashville. I've seen you 5 times this year and 3 with Sheryl. It was awesome every single time, but I'd LOVE to hear Prodigal Son live and some stuff off of Grits.
