A rainstorm threatened to snuff out Kid Rock's concert at Comerica Park Saturday night, but Rock and some 40,000 hometown fans won out at the second of two sold-out weekend shows.

In all, Rock performed to more than 80,000 fans at the Detroit Tigers' home this weekend. Add in the 60,000 he performed for at Ford Field in January, and Rock's 40th birthday year has definitely been one worth celebrating in Detroit.

After at 30 minute break in the action during which fans cleared the field, a message on the Comerica Park scoreboard said the show would resume at 8:55. Finally, at 10 minutes after 9, the lights went down and the familiar opening chords of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" filled the stadium, and Rock and his Twisted Brown Trucker band emerged on stage five minutes later, after a brief opening video set the stage for the evening.

From there, the two hour, 20-minute concert followed largely the same blueprint as Friday's show, with a few twists and turns thrown in for good measure. Fittingly, "When It Rains" - a track from Rock's 2010 album "Born Free" - was added into the set; while introducing it, Rock said he decided to throw it in 15 minutes before going on stage. And while Hagar joined Rock on stage during Friday's show, the Red Rocker was nowhere to be seen during Rock's set Saturday night. Before his set was cut short, however, Hagar made the most of his time on stage, playing a loud, raucous set that he kicked off with "I Can't Drive 55."

Not to go on the negativity.. but there are Kid Rock n TBT fans that would of did anything to get to this.. and couldn't cuz perhaps they got laid off due to the economy or something. To read things like 'pathetic' and a 'travesty' when ya knew what you were getting into.... Detroit City.. Tiger's Stadium.. 80,000 fans.. Ty Stone, Sammy, and Kid Rock ... and the unforeseen rain. Would of you rather Sammy come back on and finish out so that Kid would have to cut his part of the show short? One of my favorite shows was back in 2005 in a hurricane down in Alabama.. no lie.. Jackson Mississippi sounds real good with the rain falling down on you ; ) And the Kid always makes sure you get your show.. come hell or highwater.. gotta appreciate that man. Thank God things weren't worse.. like them poor fans at that Sugarland show... RIP

Amazing show, and great experience (4 seats VIP 1st row stage left). Saw you in Toledo in February , but nothing like seeing you in Detroit. My wife was very dissapointed she wasn't able to go in Toledo but it made it that much better that she was with me for this show. I had my brother and a friend with us also and everbody loved the show. We love your music, diversity, loyalty to your community, your good heart , and especially to me and my family your committment to our troops. I lost my cousin who was an Airborne Ranger in war exercises years ago and to many people don't take the time to appreciate what these people do everyday for our country. Also I think it means alot to all your fans when you always sincerly recognize and thank us for spending our hard earned money to come out and see you. I've seen hundreds of concerts and watched many performers only say goodnight and walk off stage. A little appreciation and common sense goes a long way. (I only wish our politicians cared as much as you do.) The only bummer was (and I should'nt even be mentioning it because the show was all that mattered) that they denied us from those cool Kid Rock Tigers jerseys for not having the same name on our tickets. Oh well it was worth every penny and then some. Thanks and ROCK ON brother. Oh yeah I forgot I saw Ted Nugent on Friday night in Toledo and then first row at your show on Saturday and then Waffle House with my family on Sunday morning. What an awesome weekend and my ears are still fucking ringing.

Great show, and personally I had no problems with any of the Comerica staff. I guess some of these people expected the staff to be ready for 40,000 people in the concourse all at once. As for the crowd, I was in G.A. and everyone got along great no real pushing and shoving. Even when they let us back down after the storm, everyone just kinda went back to the spots they were in. I was about two people deep off the rail when they cleared us out, and I was in the same spot when the show started again. Thanks for a great show!

If you're a true fan you're not disappointed. The Friday show was toned down a bit but Saturday ROCKED COMERICA OUT. We've been going for about 12 years now haven't missed a Detroit show yet and Rock you always deliver. F the Haters! No apologies necessary. Get over yourselves and please don't attend the next show so that the people who will stand in the rain, lightening and wind to see this man perform can attend. Stop being cry babies about rain and the staff at comerica and whatnot. He came on and still performed a lot of artists would have canceled. Kid, thank you for your dedication to the city and to your fans and always showing us mad love in the D.

I can't belive the things I read... People choose to use words to describe the character of people they don't even know with such words as "pathetic, old and clueless". Then go on and continue to complain about venue location. Please, 'NEGATIVE NANCY/NICK' needs to thank their lucky stars they weren't at the Indiana State Fair and be grateful to have been at Comerica Park listening to artists that I'm certain are more talented and gifted than 'NEGAGIVE NANCY/NICK'. As far as continuing to complain and droan on about 'feeling owed an apology for that travesty of a concert of Saturday'. I could be diplomatic and just say, "what?" and ask you please to get over your sense of entitlement but instead.... I heard rumblings of a tornado warning on Saturday night. Too bad the funnel cloud didn't pick 'NEGATIVE NANCY/NICK' up outta that ball park crowd and drop him somewhere in the land of Oz under a house. Detroit would already be a better place without all that negativity.....

Love that picture!! Never a disappointment!! Even though the weather on Saturday didn't cooperate it was a great show!! I was there for both of them and would have been there for a 3rd if it was scheduled!!

Great shows VIP both nights!!!!! Glad I brought my rain poncho for Saturday it was really unorganized trying to get off the floor than back down to the VIP section but both shows were awesome!!! There Ain't No Party Like A Detroit Party Cause A Detroit Party Don't Stop!!!!!! xoxo

I think you should go back to ford field...... We had nose bleed seats at comeria and it was hard to hear.... Move up a few and we could hear better, but not great... Still enjoyed the show cuz you always ROCK........

I was very disappointed with the entire show. I know the weather played a factor, but for Sammy to not come back out....what else can I say except pathetic. You know he was hung over. Way to hang "party animal". I guess that happens when you get old though. Kid Rock was great, and I know he shortened the show because of the weather based on the people I talked to from Friday. Comerica park. What else can I say other than I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, attend a concert there again. The staff was clueless and rude. Services were poor at best. They simply FAILED. Oh and I was in the VIP section and was treated as if I bought bleacher tickets. Kid Rock, you owe me and your fans an apology for that travesty you called a concert on Saturday.

As always a great show! However, SOOOOO disappointed Sammy never came back on! Not even for a jam together? WHAT? I was really lookingt forward to a dynamic duo, HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Still great show, great guy!

As always Kid Rock was awesome! I never miss a hometown concert with the man! I do have a question after I explain what I went through last night. I purchased VIP tickets for his show last night (8/13/11) at Comerica Park through his fan club presale. Yesterday, I picked up the tickets at will call, picked up the jerseys at Fox Theatre. I went through the storm, fought the crowds to get back down on the field. Went through h*** and back once we got down to the field because we were never given VIP wristbands! I had my hard tickets in hand, not just an email confirmation, the actual $250 VIP tickets in hand and had to argue with everybody and their brother down there to let us to our seats! It was the most ridiculous fiasco I have EVER been through and missed a big portion of the concert because of this! They would not allow us to go to our seats without the stupid wristbands and every Comerica employee that we asked for help said they didn't know where we can get them but we can't go to our seats without the wristband. I was threatened to be kicked out 3 times by one employee because I was trying to explain to him that I have my tickets, I paid almost $600 for them and he was not allowing me to go to my seat without a wristband!!! Did I say I had my tickets? Yes, I did ... OMG, I had the actual tickets in hand!!!! In no way whatsoever, do I Blame Kid Rock for this and no matter what I WILL ALWAYS GO TO A KID ROCK CONCERT but it was the most awful experience that a VIP ticketholder and Fan Club member should never have to go through that at a concert. I argued with so many people that I truly had tears in my eyes and could not believe that I was threatened to be removed from the area when I had actual tickets in hand!!! Tell me what to do, do I write a letter to Comerica or what??? And one more time, I want to reiterate, I love KID ROCK!!

Half expected you to come out singing "When it rains, it pours" for your first song. It definitely was a cloud burst, but it was really cool to see the rainbow come out between the stage and Fisher Building! It definitely made it a night that I'll never forget!

Yup, definitely got rained on, but it was SOOO worth it!! I even lost my hubby during the rainstorm; we watched Kid separately (our cell phone batteries had died), but it was still an AMAZING concert!! WTG Kid and TBT!! :)

Omgosh - it was raining here in the carolinas & just in case it was all east cost type, I prayed that God would lift for You all :) I went out and looked up, I saw one Star, no kidding & I felt God put in my Heart that Your show would have at leasted lifted rain, with maybe one Star... guess the one Star was You :) So glad it all worked out, Thank God!!! :))) - me :)

WOW what a night...first the rain ( gotta love Mi weather) and 20 minutes into the show a fight broke out in front of us and someone punched my daughter in the head-and faster than you could blink an eye here come Detroit's finest (CADETS) who dropped me to the floor face first and the man-handled me out the door stating "keep moving bitch" I have never been so embarrassed or humiliated in my life-listened to the rest of the show outside by the limo -should have stayed at the block party! NEVER AGAIN IN COMERICA : (
