It was as if everything conspired to make it a perfect rock ‘n’ roll night in Detroit.

With Kid Rock supplying the energy and the music supplying the sizzle, even the visuals did their part: Framed by a full moon over one side of Comerica Park and the Detroit skyline over the other, Rock and more than 40,000 fans were right in the middle throwing a Friday night party to remember.

The Detroit rocker, playing the first of a two-night hometown stand, was in notably fine form as he drove through a 2-hour, 20-minute show for a high-charged sellout crowd. This was Kid Rock the way Detroit knows and adores him – a blue-jeaned, star-spangled, firework-crackling spectacle of a working-class show.

Rock’s onstage arrival had been preceded by a new intro video, produced by Detroiter Anthony Garth: a montage of Michigan scenes with Rock’s taped voice reciting a prayer. “Let’s not forget this is not just another concert in another city,” his voice intoned. “This is Detroit.”

There certainly was no missing that: On a night when roars greeted every onstage reference to Detroit or Michigan – and they were countless -- the boosterish bond was the defining trait. Rock wasn’t just playing for fans Friday. He was connecting with hometown friends.

Rock is no stranger to Detroit concertgoers, and Friday night they were happy to relive this ritual once again, with its familiar barrage of lasers, pyro, patriotic salutes, rap-rock chestnuts and twang-touched hits.

I attended the second show at Comerica Park on Saturday August 13, 2011. I must say it was a great event. However, I purchased 2 T-shirts and a hat from the vendors (cost me $100). Yes, most of the money went to a charity and thank you Kid Rock. However, on the 2 shirts it reads "Made in Detroit." Imagine my surprise when I looked at the label and read it was actually "Made in Bangladesh." I thought "Made in Detroit" was just that made here in the metro Detroit area. If Kid Rock is promoting Made in Detroit, shouldn't the t-shirts state that on the label? Yes, I realize that Kid Rock was made in Detroit and he has done an awesome job in promoting Detroit. He's one of the best advocates for Detroit! Is there a reason his concert products aren't made in Detroit? I challenge Kid Rock to get these promotional items made here in Detroit (or at least Michigan). Come on Kid Rock . . . Step up and lets hire employees in Michigan at least! I'll help you if you help me get these products Made in Detroit!

I loved the concert last night. I especially love Closing Detroit always makes me cry. As a GM/UAW sister, Local 598 from Flint, I know the struggles of the auto workers. I am fortunate to still be employed, so many are not. Kid Rock touches the subject with so much compassion, it shows he is not only a great performer but a great person. The videos of Michigan shows what a beautiful state we live in, we are not the murder/crime capital, there is so much more to our state. THANKS!!! Kelly local 598

Awesome review! Love the pictures and got a favorite quote.... “It’s not only time to rock, It’s time to educate, time to motivate, time to stimulate each other and remember that we need each other. … No matter where you’re from, we’re all here together." To get Detroit back to healthy life, you all have to work together. It will be tough, but surely can be done. If you put your minds together, slowly starting to built up, district by district, then there should be jobs available ( craftsman, electricians, food stores, services etc ), even if it might be slow, dont give up. Economy is screwed up all over the world! So actually we all sit in the same boat! Together, we can fight this draught, and find a way out of it!!! I want you all to rock as hard as you did last night and be proud of who you are and what you do!
