Here is an excerpt of an article from CMT.com of host Kid Rock visiting the 'CMT Music Awards Pressroom.' The interview took place backstage at the 2011 'CMT Music Awards' on Wednesday, June 8 in Nashville, TN.

Without warning, Kid Rock bounded on the press platform, causing photographers to scramble for their cameras and reporters to reach for their recorders. First he fielded a question about when he's going to make a country album.

"Man, that's tough. I just enjoy music, so to narrow it down and say I'm just going to go country ... plus, man, they do so much stuff in country I'm kind of amazed about. I've been touring my butt off for 25 years. They're signing autographs for 24 hours and talking to radio shows. You can't play a show until 11 at night and then get up and go to a radio station and beg them to play your song," he said. "I just like being me. Whatever that is, I own it."

Asked for his reaction to Jason Aldean's rap-infused "Dirt Road Anthem," Kid Rock teased the reporters that he should be thanked for being one of the first artists to blend those styles. Then he noted, "Country and hip-hop are not that far apart in spirit. It's all blues music. Country's really been good about it, especially in my lifetime, about opening up to a lot of genres. ... Country's kind of opened its arms and said, 'If it's cool, we're going to embrace it.' There are so many artists who never get their due who could be rock, could be country, and country's blazing the trail in being open-minded."

My son just bought a Colt Ford CD......talk about country rap. There is such an infusion of the music! Bob should definitely be thanked for helping to blend music styles! No one should ever give Kid Rock shit about not being "country".

I agree with Kid Rock. I have always been a country fan, but listening to his albums, I hear a little of everything. What makes it so good is the fact that there is no pretentiousness there, either you love it or you don't and it makes no difference to the Kid. Thanks so much for being the kind of person who can say how you feel and not be bothered by what others think. You seem like you are an honest and caring person, but try to hide that behind your bad boy image. It makes no difference to me, I love you anyway and love the music!!! Looking forward to seeing you at Comerica Park on August 13. Stood in line for 3 hours to get ok seats, but I don't care as long as I get to be there and join the party!!!! Hope to see you at DTE soon too. That is a great place to hang out on a summer night, and enjoy the music!

Does anyone that posts the links to advertising pages actually expect ANYONE to buy their stuff? They's be just as lucky to throw a rock through your window with their link pasted to it and have you buy their stuff as a result. Seriously.

I sooo get that. It's funny cause I grew up listening to Led Zep, Ozzy, then CCR, Skynard and even little old school rap. Then got hooked on country. I just love music and it's nice to have that variety especially for the mood ur in. I've got to say u def got ur style and it's got me hooked! U just keep doing what u love doing cause it's working for u and us fans are lov'n it! Luv ya and keep it real.

I am a Kid Rock fan from back when it was far from cool to be a Kid Rock fan, and I have to say, I was extremely jealous not only of the dance he and Sheryl Crowe had, but of her grabbing his ass! Mama Mia!!!!!!

Country is the heart of all music. It goes back many years. I have been a huge country fan for years, but also liked Dillon, Seger and many other artists that weren't country. What I appreciate is talent, and talent covers all genres of music. Thanks to the kid, I also enjoy rap which I never was crazy about until now. Maybe I just didn't understand it. I has alot of qualities like blues, soul and country. Keep up the good work, as I see you have worked hard to get where you are. Forget all the times when people didn't believe in you, cuz they sure do now. You have made me a believer and have helped me to understand things I did not understand before. Keep up the good work and the music. Forget the past, at least the bad parts of it and enjoy life. Love ya Bobby!!!!
