Hometown hero Jonas has landed a sweet gig opening for Kid Rock when he hits the Montreal Bell Centre on Monday, May 30. The Montreal rocker and his band, The Massive Attraction, will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.
“The boys and I can’t wait to heat up the stage in our hometown for a man who has been at the forefront of rock n’ roll mayhem for the last decade,” Jonas said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Kid Rock is a showman who I’ve been watching, almost studying, for years, and he knows how to tear up an arena like few can.” And here’s our favourite part: “Montreal better call in late for work the next day because this one is gonna hurt.”
Who doesn’t love that all-in-good-fun rock n’ roll bluster?
Jonas headlined at the Bell Centre in 2007. He also plays guitarist John McGale in the upcoming film Gerry, about Gerry Boulet and Offenbach, due in theatres June 15. And his album Big Slice is still selling and spawning singles.
All in all, a good year for the city’s favourite rock strutter.
